OU Team: Not the most creative, but at least decent!
So yeah, this is not only my first RMT here, but also my first post here :P The sets could be a little more creative, but hey, why change something that works when you hardly know what you're doing :/
Team at a glance:
Any changes made will be in red and bold.
For those of you who are interested, here's a nice chart showing my weaknesses and resistances:
So yeah, no glaring weaknesses in this team, and a LOT of resistances.
Lead: Relaxed Swampert @ Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Moves:
-Stealth Rock
-Earthquake
-Ice Beam
-Protect
SR for obvious reasons...it's a lead...anyway, Earthquake and Ice Beam deal with other leads...Protect ensures that I survive any Explosions from suicide leads and also gives me an extra turn for Leftovers.
Sweeper: Adamant Scizor @ Life Orb
Ability: Technician
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Moves:
-Swords Dance
-Bullet Punch
-Brick Break
-Bug Bite
So since I'm not that great with Choice items, I'm picking this set. Life Orb + Swords Dance make for a nice little power boost, and if I choose Bullet Punch or Bug Bite, that's coupled with STAB and a boost from Technician. Brick Break handles Heatran and Magnezone without the penalty of Superpower, although it wouldn't really be my FIRST choice against Heatran for obvious reasons.
Sweeper: Jolly Flygon @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Moves:
-Earthquake
-Roost
-Dragon Claw
-Stone Edge
So this is a physical set on Flygon because it's base Atk is higher than it's base Sp. A, so I gain a little more from STAB and Life Orb. Earthquake deals with Fire- and Steel- types, while Roost heals off Life Orb recoil without costing me Ground immunity like it would on a Flying- type. Dragon Claw is better than Outrage for this set because I already eliminated the Choice item, so why get locked into Outrage? Lastly, Stone Edge deals with Flying- types, and is physical unlike Fire Blast, which my Heatran already has, so it would be redundant on Flygon due to not only that but no STAB on Flygon either.
SubPasser: Timid Jolteon @ Leftovers
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Moves:
-Substitute
-Baton Pass
-Hidden Power Ice
-Thunderbolt
I use Substitute on Starmie, so people get scared but don't want to switch because there's a nice little substitute right in front of them, so Starmie stays in, and ta-da! Thunderbolt. Baton Pass allows me to get out of there w/o losing Substitute if I happen to have one up, and then I can switch to a more appropriate Pokemon, but if it's a Ground- type and I have Substitute, Hidden Power Ice deals with them just fine.
Annoyer: Timid Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Sp.A / 252 Spe
Moves:
-Fire Blast
-Earth Power
-Hidden Power Grass
-Taunt
So at the suggestion of Faladran (big thanks to you, by the way), I changed this to a set that can shut down stallers, such as Blissey. With Taunt, my opponent can't use recovery or status-inducing moves, and then I can get a potential free setup and sweep with Gyarados. Hidden Power Grass handles Water- types outside of Gyarados that may try to take down Heatran, Earth Power deals with Fire-, and Fire Blast is reliable STAB for Steel- types and whatnot. Again, thank you Faladran for your input and also the warm welcome to Smogon!
Sweeper: Adamant Gyarados @ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Moves:
-Dragon Dance
-Waterfall
-Stone Edge
-Bounce
Jolteon and Gyarados cover each other fairly nicely. If the opponent tries to use an electric attack, on the turn it would be used, I switch to Jolteon, where Volt Absorb restores HP. Then I Substitute and Baton Pass back, and proceed with Gyarados if he's the best Pokemon for the job. DD gives me that nice Atk/Spe boost, Waterfall is nice and powerful STAB, Stone Edge deals with other Flying- types, and Bounce is also good STAB along with the most powerful move in the set, and it hits most Grass- and Dragon- types harder than Ice Fang.
I look forward to your CONSTRUCTIVE criticism. Half a team of Sweepers may or may not be wise, but I like to be prepared in case anything happens.
