I love those random quotes in the Wi-Fi Battle Tower.
Anyways, this team has been doing acceptionally well on Shoddy and I'd like some feedback, because I know there are some flaws but I don't know where and how to fix them without ruining the synergy of the team. So, here they are:
Tyranitar (♂) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 60 Atk / 176 Def / 20 SDef
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Crunch
- Taunt
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
I've been leading with this sturdy T-Tar set on Shoddy and it's been working significantly well. He catches many people off guard with Taunt when they try setting up first. If they decide to stay in, I slam them with the harder hitting moves Crunch, Earthquake or Stone Edge; or switch out and proceed to set up, myself.
252 HP allows T-Tar to absorb hits from both ends of the spectrum fairly well. 60 attack EVs and a positive nature gives him a solid 350 attack and 176 defense EVs for a good 300 defense. The remaining EVs went into special defense.
---
Gliscor (♂) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Veil
EVs: 252 HP / 180 Def / 76 Spd
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Aerial Ace
- Roost
- Taunt
He counters Heracross, Breloom, Lucario, and Dusknoir, who would otherwise cause a major problem for this team. EVs generate 246 speed, allowing Gliscor to comfortably outspeed Breloom, Dusknoir, and non-Choice Scarfed Heracross. Lucario almost always runs max speed, so it’s redundant to do the same for Gliscor.
---
Machamp (♂) @ Leftovers
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Dynamicpunch
- Ice Punch
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
Machamp is an absolute beast. He can take attacks from both ends of the spectrum quite nicely and deal back a nice amount of damage in return. Machamp absorbs sleep, and when he’s low on HP or hit with an irritating status, I rinse and repeat.
---
Vaporeon (♂) @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 188 HP / 252 Def / 68 SAtk
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Protect
- Wish
- Surf
- Ice Beam
The standard Wish passing Vaporeon. Wish support is beneficial to this team, especially to those important members on this team who lack a reliable form of recovery.
---
Bronzong @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 152 Atk / 8 Def / 96 SDef
Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Stealth Rock
- Hypnosis
- Gyro Ball
- Earthquake
Provides the much needed support of Stealth Rock and contributes to this team’s lack of special defenses. I also appreciate having something that can throw around status, shutting down those trying to set something up and allowing me to do so myself. Knowing that this important member of the team doesn’t take any residual damage from the Sandstorm is definitely a plus.
---
Dusknoir (♂) @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 76 Def / 180 SDef
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Shadow Sneak
- ThunderPunch
- Will-O-Wisp
- Pain Split
This team requires a bit more Fighting type resistance and, more importantly, Gyarados counter; and Dusknoir here fits into this team almost perfectly. He ThunderPunches those rampaging Gyarados to oblivion and burns nearly any other physical attacking threat to critically diminish their attacking power.
