My Rain Dance Team RMT ^^

My team at first look

I’ve been looking around on smogon for quite some time and I’ve finally decided to post my team. Here is my rain dance team. I’ve been working on it for a while and is probably the first rain dance team I’ve seen work without Bronzong defense and set up. This is my first time posting an rmt on smogon and I'm not so comfortable with calculations so ill fill you in with what I know and I have all the necessary descriptions to my Pokemon. Although Bronzong is very good for rain dancing teams I really wanted to include Jirachi’s wish support and I didn’t feel safe with having two Pokemon with the same weaknesses.

Jirachi @ Damp Rock
Ability: Serene Grace
Nature: Timid
EVs: 240 HP / 56 Special Attack / 76 Defense / 136 Speed
* Thunder
* U-turn
* Wish
* Rain Dance

I placed Jirachi over Bronzong because although Bronzong has so many resistances, I found him pretty much useless other than to sponge a hit or two, set up stealth rock, and then explode. I feel that having wish support can be very important after seeing how fast my Kingdra dies after a few turns with life orb. And the added bonus of 100% accuracy thunder after set up is really nice too.

Swampert @ Salac Berry
Ability: Torrent
Nature: Jolly
EVs: 252 Attack / 6 Defense / 252 Speed
* Waterfall
* Earthquake
* Rain Dance
* Endure

This is a set I’ve been thinking of for a while. I used to run Azumarill but the little rat would die off so fast after one focus punch. So I wanted to make a set that could sponge hits like Bronzong and play my opponent into weakening my Pokemon into the pinch berry and with torrent back-up and rain support I believe I have a powerful attacking force. Rain dance was included just incase my other dancers get taken out do to my carelessness :p I'm still questioning my evs though… should I stick to attack and speed or should I go for defenses and hp?

Kingdra @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
Nature: Rash
EVs: 168 Attack / 252 Special Attack / 88 Speed
* Surf
* Ice Beam
* Dragon Pulse
* Waterfall

I like Kingdra a lot. It was the first Pokemon I saw at a Pokemon tournament and it sweeped a team 6-0 easily with the rain. Ever since I wanted to recreate that force and with the Mixdra I found here on smogon, I found the force I dreamed of :p Although Life orb has an extraordinary kick it also kicks me after a few turns, so I let my wish support keep my king kicking.

Ludicolo @ Damp Rock
Ability: Swift Swim
Nature: Modest
EVs: 252 Special Attack / 252 Speed
* Surf
* Ice Beam
* Grass Knot
* Rain Dance

Absolutely devastating to a team that isn’t expecting it. I'm shocked at how many Pokemon Ludicolo can take out. I'm not too sure of the modest layout though. I just threw this set together in a rush so I never got to examine the ev layout but it has been very effective.

Forretress @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
Nature: Relaxed
EVs: 252 HP / 162 Defense / 96 Special Defense
* Spikes / Stealth Rock
* Toxic Spikes
* Rapid Spin
* Explosion

New addition to my team. I haven’t used it yet but in theory it doesn’t look so bad. I have been trying to decide between Tentacruel and Starmie for the 5th place on my team but I gave it to Forretress for the extra spikes and toxic spikes. I’ve never run spikes before, I used to use Bronzong’s Stealth Rock but hopefully this set will fill its purpose; rid me of enemy entry hazards, spread out my own entrance hazard and explode any major threat.

Salamence @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Attack / 252 Speed
* Crunch
* Rock Slide
* Brick Break
* Ariel Ace

And finally Salamence. When developing my team I wanted only two Pokemon to depend on the rain for power (i.e. Kingdra and Ludicolo) and for my other four to benefit from it. Before Salamence I ran a Garchomp with surf after reading a very interesting warstory here. Although surf caught many people off-guard, my revenge killing Garchomp always got spanked by Cresselia. And because I removed Bronzong I needed a Pokemon that could avoid that popular attack Earthquake, so I picked Salamence out of the bunch. Salamence has Crunch for my Psychic and Ghost hatred, Rock slide for Gyarados, Brick Break for Blissey and Weavile (if Weavile isn’t scarfed itself or sashed) and Ariel ace for STAB and for any Heracross trying to take advantage of my toxic spikes.

Threat List

Many Pokemon can be a threat to my team but I feel I have balanced them out accordingly to fit each others weaknesses and resistances.

Jirachi switches to Salamence in fear of earthquake and fire; Salamence and switch to Forretress for ice defense; Forretress is study in the rain but if not he can hide behind any of my Pokemon. Ludicolo and Kingdra have defenses in Jirachi for dragon, poison, and flying.

Ok well, I cant be arsed to check all of it since its a mess, and a hassle to read, but from what I see I would suggest Draco Meteor on kingdra over dragon pulse.
It looks like your going for the mixed set.
Draco meteor lowers SP.atk yes, but its not a problem, since U can continiue sweaping with Waterfall since its physical,
And kingdra needs DM to be the beast ha can be.

I would also suggest adding Leach Seed on Ludicolo, it enables it to counter blissey and bulky water ALOT better.
And since U have 2 rain starters, maybe replace Rain dance?

Also, U didnt know about spread etc on Ludicolo.
This is mine from my Rain-team (check a few threads below this one)

Ludicolo @Leftovers
Trait: Swift Swim
EVs: 204 HP/ 144 SAtk/ 104 Spd/ 56 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Leech Seed
- Grass Knot
- Rain Dance
- Ice Beam

lol Gammal i just realized you posted your own rain dance team some time ago :p, i was looking through it and was surprised to see someone else that didnt use bronzong and used jirachi as a starter. but personally i prefer having 3 dancers for mostly emergency purposes. ive found myself trapped many times with my old team with only 2 dancers

Then I would suggest replacing surf as I have done on mine... U got Grass to cover most things water covers anyway. And ice helps with the oddeties.
Leach seed is a must ;)
