My Sand Stall Team

Look at the team:
Hippowdon, Cradily, Registeel, Skarmory, Tentacruel, Dusknoir

Ok, this team I made just to stall people and make them annoyed at my team due to all of the walls.

Lead Hippowdon @ Leftovers
Impish
252 HP 252 Def
Earthquake
Ice Fang
Slack Off
Toxic

Gets things going with Sand Stream. I would've like things to get started by using stealth rock but I chose not to as I rather off going for a quick toxic or a switch. He can really take a hit and with a stabbed Earthquake he can pack a nice punch. Unfortunately Taunt kind of hurts this guy due to it crippling his ability to heal and toxic.

Registeel @ Leftovers
Lonely
252 HP 252 SDef
Seismic Toss
Stealth Rock
Explosion
Toxic

He's just... well annoying to face. Seismic Toss or Explosion, each can be used well to take out walls. He's capable of taking both physical and special hits. One disappointment is no recovery move, so I need the explosion to help me out on that situation for when he gets to low HP.

Tentacruel @ Black Sludge
Calm
252 HP 122 Def 136 SDef
Surf
Toxic Spikes
Sludge Bomb
Rapid Spin

Toxic Spikes can help me out with the stall, helps get rid of spikes and stealth rocks decent Special Wall as well. Also, he is really useful if an Alakazam tries to trick another one of my pokemons. He's in here to help me as none of my pokemon resist fire, also to clear the way for my other pokemon of toxic spikes and rapid spin. Surf and Sludge Bombs are both nice stabbed moves and Sludge Bomb has a nice chance to poison the opponent as well.

Dusknoir @ Leftovers
Impish
252 HP 28 Att 230 Def
Will-O-Wisp
Pain Split
Shadow Sneak
Ice Punch

Ok trying to get some burns in on those darn poison pokes and steel. He can takes special and physical hits. A nice priority move as well. He comes in handy as he blocks rapid spin and fighting and normal attacks don't effect him. He's really in here to mainly wall the fighters out there.

Skarmory @ Leftovers
Impish
252 HP 252 Def
Stealth Rock
Roost
Drill Peck
Whirlwind

Standard Skarmory a real pain in the ***. He can whirlwind pokemon around and just add up the Stealth Rock Damage. I like this guy a lot main problem is with this guy is when a pokemon with a wide variety of moves come in with both fire attacks and electric attacks. Along with magnezone as a threat. Drill Peck is less than Brave Bird, however I need him to receive less damage a turn and try to save the roosts when I really need them.

Cradily @ Leftovers
Careful
252 HP 160 Def 96 Def
Stock Pile
Toxic
Recover
Energy Ball

Such an amazing Special Wall in Sand Storm. I set up with the Stock Piles and he becomes a hard to stop mix wall. Cradily gets the boost in special defense from sand storm so that helps me out a little bit. Cradily is probably my best Toxic staller on my team as he can wall both types of attacks and only crits can take this thing down with 3 stock piles. Energy Ball is just mainly for a stabbed move.

Please help and rate it and give suggestions!

I would have barrier>stockpile on Cradily. He doesn't need the special defense boosts that much after the sandstorm. With barrier, recover and sandstorm Cradily is a true monster.

I'm not a great stall player, but since you asked for my help, I'll try to point out some obvious weaknesses:

1) this team is massacred by Gyarados, taunt Gyara as plenty of opportunities to set up and procede to sweep. I'd replace Dusknoir with a defensive Rotom:

Rotom@leftovers
nature: bold
EVs: 252 HP / 168 Def / 88 Spe
-thunderbolt
-will-o-wisp
-rest
-sleep tallk

the Spe EVs are to outspeed every Scizor and bun them before they can hit with pursuit.

2) Another quite evident weakness is Lucario, again it can set up on a lot of your pokemons and Hippowdon must be almost at full health to survive the +2 close combat. I've seen a lot of stall teams running a sleep talk Gyarados to counter both Lucario and Scizor, among the others. So, I'd replace Registeel, which seems pretty useless with:

Gyarados@leftovers
nature: impish
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
-rest
-sleep talk
-waterfall
-roar

pretty self explanatory, with this set Gyara can sponge a lot of physical hits and roar prevents other pokemons to use it as set up fodder. Replacing Registeel, you can give stealth rock to Hippowdon in place of toxic, which is quite redundant with toxic spikes on the team. Gyarados would also give you a second answer to Infernape, should you lose Tentacruel.

Another option would be running Gliscor in this place, so:

Gliscor@leftovers
nature: jolly
trait: sand veil
EVs: 252 HP / 40 Def / 216 Spe
-roost
-earthquake
-stone edge
-u-turn / taunt

note that the Spe EVs are there to outspeed even jolly Lucario which usually carries ice punch just for Gliscor.

3) I don't really like Cradily, that set is an invitation to every steel type in the game to come in and set-up, and also it looks like a dead weight for the team, I think that a wish Blissey would be a lot better there, providing wish support for the team - though most of your pokemons have recovery moves - while still sponging special hits. So:

Blissey@leftovers
nature: calm
EVs: 252 Def / 80 SpA / 176 SpD
-wish
-protect
-flamethrower
-toxic

Hope this helps.

GL!

Thanks a lot on the first two. I knew of those weaknesses. However, Cradily won't go but I am testing different moves on it.

ive done sand stall before, and i recommend you use knock off over sludge bomb on tentacruel to kill leftovers

i would put blissey instead of registeel, i dont really get why registeel is there

blissey is a cleric, as your team can get slaughtered by status, and if you dont think blissey can stall then -___-
Blissey@Leftovers-Natural Cure
252 Def/252 SpD/4 Spe Calm
Aromatherapy/Heal Bell
Softboiled
Seismic Toss
Thunder Wave/Toxic
Twave can help stall but toxic actually does damage
twave can actually hit gengar tho

if you want SR use that instead of toxic on hippo, theoretically your tentacruel has the toxicing covered w/ tspikes

hippowdon also learns stockpile and my old stockpileopotemoas was amazing. Set up on a physical attacker then after 2 stockpiles you can take mix hit's and slack off damage (note it did not worl as a lead though). so stealth rock is good, and leave toxic to cradily.

Then your registeel can be free of stealth rock and learn rest, sleep talk, siesmic toss and a filler attack move, toxic is good, but could be anoying if used when asleep at the wrong moment.

You could always trade for a different one/catch a new one.

If you're setting up Toxic Spikes why do you have so many 'mons that can Toxic?

Metagross can replace Registeel and do the job better. Besides, you already have Skarmory.

Typical stall teams involve "SpikeStacking" in other words SR and Spikes is a must on a Stall team (Toxic Spikes is usually optional though because it is the easiest to get rid of). Skarm could use Spikes over SR. I would also recommend Shed Shell on Skarm, otherwise you might not be able to set up.

Cradily will have a hard time in an OU environment because Scizor is everywhere, you could get Toxiced yourself, watch out for Trick too.
Grass Knot will do more damage on average in OU than Energy Ball.

Be weary of Heatran too because nothing is really a safe switch into it and it'll just omnomnom on a Wisp from Dusknoir. I agree with some of the above posters in that Blissey and Rotom will help a lot. Other Stall/Defensive teams have a lot of trouble against Stalk Rotom.

You might also want to consider having two or more phazers because delviering constant damage from various Spikes is essential in Stall these days.

This team needs a lot of work... Hope this helps.

A mixape is pretty much guaranteed at least one kill against your team. You don't really have anything that I can see that can switch into ape and take less than 1/3 damage, except maybe Tentacruel, which will be already weakened most likely as Mixape is a late game sweeper, and Tentacruel can't lay down Tspikes without taking some damage. Mixape is often Life Orbed, meaning he isn't locked into a move and if he has the right nature and evs etc., then you are pretty much guaranteed to lose a pokemon, maybe two. I would recommend throwing in a Suicune or Cresselia over the not very great Cradilly, they can deal more damage as well as force more switches. They are hurt by sandstorm, but can both learn protect and effectively wall and possibly land a ko against most sweepers that threaten your team.

Cradily once again stays, you're forgetting the 1.5x boost to special defense he gets. Cresselia over Registeel, I would do. Possibly remove Tentacruel for a Gengar. Then remove Dusknoir for a Swords Dance Lucario.

Cradily is a beast, especially in sandstorm.
But shuckle is a freaking god in sandstorm, unstoppable.
You can test it to see how it works ;)

OK, if you insist on keeping cradily, make some changes.

1: If cradily gets the 1.5 boost in Sp. Def, why raise it more with stockpile when you can have barrier, to become a true mixed wall?

2: Energy ball isn't really needed, as it won't dent much. If you don't mind the lack of pp, Ancient power is a viable option, as it potentially raises all stats. If you're willing to lose the STAB, Earthquake can make a mark on the steel types that switch in expecting a toxic.

And I love the idea of replacing Dusknoir with Lucario.

Suggestion 2 I like. However, suggestion 1 I'm not too crazy of. As stock pile doesn't ware off and it raises it amazing defenses even more.

Barrier does not wear off o.o
You should replace energy ball with earthquake on Cradily because Hetran completely walls it.

OK , if you insist on having Stockpile, then swap the def and sp. def evs. That way, you can still effectively wall while getting a boosted sp. def and then also getting a higher defense stat.

Ok, that'll do. Now Swords Dance Lucario in for Dusknoir and Scarf Gengar in for Tentacruel. How is this sounding?
