My Stall Team

I've had this team for a while, but I never bothered to get it rated. Stall is my favorite style of play, so I would really appreciate any and all help.

200px-450Hippowdon.png
@ Leftovers
Trait: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 252Def / 4 SDef
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Stealth Rock
- Slack Off
- Roar
- Earthquake

Hippowdon is my lead because it gets up my weather. If I see a lead politoad, my weather stays over theirs. Stealth Rock is a must for this team. EQ so I can hit things like lead TTar. Slack Off is a must for recovery, and Roar over Ice Fang so I can phaze late in the game. I'm considering changing to a TTar of my own because Reuniclus is such a problem.

Blissey.bmp
@ Leftovers
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Wish
- Protect
- Toxic
- Flamethrower

Blissey is a must on any stall team because it's such a good special wall. This is the same set I ran in 4th gen because it works so well. Wish/Protect for recovery, I can also pass wishes to Foretress if it is weak. Flamethrower over Seismic Toss so I can beat Gengars, and catch Scizor and Breloom that think they can switch in and set up.

@ Leftovers
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SDef
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Spikes
- Toxic Spikes
- Rapid Spin
- Payback

Forretress is a very important part of this team. It is my spinner, and it sets up my spikes and toxic spikes. I've also had to use it as sleep/trick fodder though. Payback is for ghosts that try to switch in on my rapid spin and block it.

latias4.gif
@ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Dragon Pulse
- Roar
- Recover

CM latias, it's a sweeper but also serves as a second phazer. recover helps with toxic stalling.

jellicent.jpg
@ Leftovers
Trait: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 6 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Shadow Ball
- Surf
- Toxic
- Recover

Jellicent serves as my spin blocker/another toxic staller. Surf over Scald for the same reason I mentioned with Vaporeon. I've considered changing Shadow Ball and using Taunt instead. Toxic and Recover are for stalling. Tentacruel is one of the spinners that give me some problems because I can't really hurt them, or stop them from setting up.

479Rotom-Wash.png
@ Choice Scarf
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Volt Switch
- Hydro Pump
- Trick
- Hidden Power [Fire]

choice scarf gives rotom a chance to be an offensive threat. trick is for walls and things that think they can set up on me. hidden power fire is to deal with things like breloom, scizor and forretress.

You need some offense. Something like a Sub moxie scrafty. 6-0s you.
Sub-moxie Scarfty? Never heard of it or seen it.

Hey, decent team man, its always great to see a fellow staller. The first problem I see off the bat is Rotom-W, if its a trick version, it will ruin Blissey and at that point the only thing that has a chance of taking it down is Zapdos, and all it has to do is volt switch out. The uncommon calm mind Jirachi could be a massive pain, especially in the rain. But more importantly calm mind Reunicles outright sweeps you. Magic mirror espeon is a massive pain, it might even outright sweep you. Finally stall breaker Mew could be a huge pain in the ass.

First then I suggest is switching Vaporeon out for Latias. Vaporeon is currently doing nothing for this outside of wishing, while Latias would solve a lot of those threats and possibly add one of your own.

Latias (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Dragon Pulse
- Recover
- Roar

Unfortunately I can't think of a way right now to deal with the rest of your threats right now, that wouldn't either deconstruct this team to much or add even more threats.

As for the moves, you might want to consider using ice fang over roar on Hippowdon, as a few air balloon users without it will be an annoyance. If you still want roar though, consider using ice fang over stealth rocks instead, and switching spikes for stealth rocks on Forretress. For Blissey, I suggest you run the following evs spread: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SDef this will add substantially more special bulk, which you need, while still keeping the physical bulk at a level that is acceptable. Flamethrower is kinda weak on Blissey, I bet you will often find seismic toss much more useful. Jellicent needs taunt to beat other walls, over shadow ball easily.

Also all your pokemon would like 4 more evs.

You need some offense. Something like a Sub moxie scrafty. 6-0s you.

Not really because Moxie Scrafty DD
are usually life orbed meaning Forrestress walls it. CM Jirachi can solve your Scrafty problem because
with Bold nature it can take every physical attack, after two CM you can OHKO or 2HKO Scrafty with T-Bolt.

Thanks for the suggestions. Are there any pokemon besides vaporeon that I should change? Reuniclus is the biggest problem that I have because I can't touch it. Should I change Surf for Scald?

Reuniclus problem? Maybe Choice Band Scizor (since it has synergy with Vaporeon + Jellicent if you keep it), and it allows you to have some offense and momentum.

Scizor @ Choice Band
Adamant Nature (+Atk - Sp. Atk)
Ev's: 248 HP, 252 Atk, 8 Spd
~ U-turn
~ Bullet Punch
~ Pursuit / Quick Attack
~ Superpower

what do you think that i should replace it with?

I would say Blissey, because you already have a special wall in Forretress. Also, a few nitpicks -
1. Run Volt Switch on Forretress. This may be weird, but trust me, it's godly. Predicting the obvious Jellicent/Gengar/Ghost type switch in? Volt Switch to CB Scizor.
2. Change Surf on Vaporeon for Scald. Scald may have less power, but the burn chance is more than worth it. Same with Jellicent if you keep it, and it doesn't conflict as much as with poison than you would think.
3. Change Roar on your Hippowdon with Whirlwind. Reason? Soundproof Pokemon. Yes, I know, very rare, but you wouldn't want it to actually happen, would you?
4. Maybe Substitute on Zapdos? Probably get rid of Roar...
5. You need Stealth Rocks. Maybe on Forretress? It does loads of damage on the biggest threats in the metagame currently (Volcarona and Dragonite), and effects all Pokemon (except Magic Guards, but you get the point).

You could use Sableye as your spin blocker over Jellicent. It's Ghost / Dark typing makes him immune to the attacking moves of CM Reuniclus (Blissey can outstall the TR variant). Prankster Taunt is useful against opposing stall teams.

idk about getting rid of blissey, i have stealth rock on hippo. should i make my zapdos a sub/toxic set? thanks for the suggestions.

@Delko
Or, you could be cool and run a CM Sableye set XD

Sableye @ Leftovers
Bold Nature (+Def - Atk)
Ev's: 252 HP, 252 Def, 4 Sp. Def
~ Calm Mind
~ Snarl (STAB Snarl is pro. Don't argue.)
~ Will-O-Wisp
~ Recover

EDIT: Why not get rid of Blissey? You don't really need it. And I believe you should use SubRoost Zapdos, PP / Toxic Stall them to death.

Spiritomb is a much more better spin blocker than Sableye.
Spiritomb stats are very high and it has dual stab. It is Dark/Ghost which means you will never see supereffective hit on spiritomb.

I haven't played for about a million years, but doesn't this team just get raped by Breloom? The only "counter" you have for it is Zapdos and even then, its slower at the moment and will just be put to sleep. Moving a few Ev's from Def (32?) to Speed should patch this up a bit.

I would like to know why you have both Jellicent and Vaporeon on the same team, don't they wall the same things? I suggest replacing Vaporeon since Jellicent is your spin blocker Wish isn't exactly needed since 5/6 have reliable recovery anyway.

Celebi is a good option (I'm sure there are better ones out there). Try this set

Celery
Celery_big.jpg

@Leftovers
Bold
252 HP / 220 Def / 36 Spe

-Giga Drain / Grass Knot
-Hidden Power Fire
-Perish Song / Heal Bell
-Recover

It's a surefire Breloom counter, and adds Perish Song / Heal Bell to your team (Heal Bell can also be added on Blissey by dropping Wish and Protect for Softboiled). The Standard set has Leech Seed / Thunder Wave over Perish Song / Heal Bell, but I think those are poor choices for your team seeing as once again added recovery from Leech Seed isn't needed too much seeing as your team has tons of recovery methods, and Thunder Wave is a meh option as a full stall team shouldn't really give two shits if its faster than the opponent (in most cases).

TL;DR: Drop Vappy for Celebi, 32 Speed evs on Zappy, Softboiled/Heal Bell over Wish/Protect on Blissey.

Overall pretty good I must say. Good luck with the team, I <3 stall.

hey thanks for the suggestions. i'm trying out celebi over vaporeon but i just wanted to know if there was any way to help my obvious reuiniclus problem?

edit: dragonite looks like it could be a problem too now that i got rid of vaporeon.

bump again. i find myself just using perish song to deal with reuiniclus, but is there any other pokemon i can use over celebi to help with that? also updated the original post.

Don't replace Blissey. It's your only special wall. yeah, forretress is EVd and everything, but it lacks recovery, and still even with a +nature and 252 EVs, it hits 240 special defense... Speaking of Blissey, why do you run almost minimal HP? I know you said it's 4th gen, but the sets 4th gen to 5th gen are the same. (the wishing ones) So I think you should run 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD

I suggest you make Forre phyicsally defensive, with an Impish Nature and 252 Def evs. Also, running 52 speed EVs on Jellicent allows you to outpace SD Scizor, even the ones that speed creep by one. Running Taunt on Jellicent helps you against opposing stall teams, so I suggest putting it over Shadow Ball. The Hippodown EVs you're using are the 4th gen spread. Switch over to the 5th gen one, which is Impish, 252 HP / 252 def / 4 SpD

someone earlier had suggested 252 def 252 sp.def so i changed. it's worked pretty well and i've been able to take powerful special attacks a lot better, but i'll consider going back. i have shadow ball for starmies that i try to spin block. i'll change my hippos EVs.

any suggestions for my reuiniclus problem? i still don't really have a sure fire way to deal with that.

Latias (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Dragon Pulse
- Recover
- Roar

I'm not the most experienced, but I run Reuniclus on one of my own teams. I have a hard time dealing with Latias. After a calm mind or two the thing is fully capable of sweeping, and there isn't too much Reuniclus can do to stop it.

i tried out the latias set and calm mind reuniclus were able to set themselves up and do a lot of damage with psychoshock. i'd say with celebi i just perish song and keep them from setting up on me. but are there any other suggestions? or did i do something wrong?

Hey there!
I'd reccomend switching Celebii for Roar CM Latias
Latias@Leftovers
Bold Nature
252HP/252Def/4SpDef
-Roar
-Calm Mind
-Dragon Pulse
-Recover
So now you got not only a shuffler, but a sweeper
Also I'd try switching Zapdos for Scarf Rotom-W so you have something for switch advantage
Rotom@Choice Scarf
Modest
Evs 252 Speed/252 SpA/4HP
-Volt Switch
-Hydro Pump
-Trick
-Hidden Power Fire/Ice/Grass
Hope I Helped :]

i tried out your changes and i like the way the team plays now. i'm using hp fire on rotom. i haven't seen any reuniclus but i guess the specially defensive sets have an easier time with the calm mind reuniclus?

edit- i feel like brelooms would be a big problem now though.
