SV OU My take on bulky hazard stack!

Hello everyone, welcome to my first RMT and my first teambuilding experience :)

I wanted to share with you my attempt at bulky hazard stack. Looks like this playstyle is the best in the current metagame.

Descriptions:

LANCELOT the hazard setter

First of all any hazard stack team will need a hazard setter obv. I decided to go garchomp because it is not very common on these type of teams despite being very good imo. This is a standard tank chomp set with both spikes and rocks. My decision for running dual hazard will be explained with the following mons. earthquake for good STAB damage and dragon tail for potentially phasing out set up mons. EVs are also pretty standard; max hp, 40 spe for outspeading Raging Bolt and rest in def. rockey helment to do more passive damage along with rough skin. Garchomp pretty much plays a defensive role to punish contact mons. Tera water becuase its a good defensive type.

ALONEAMOLA the wish spammer + spd pivot

Running Garchomp on hstack requiresto have Alomomola. These 2 mons make a good core because it create a def + sepdef core. Induvidually, Alo provides wish support to the whole team, making the team more sustainable and consistent. Scald for fetching burns on physical mon. flip turn to keep the momentum going. protect to scout opposing moves + stall out either Trick room/Sun/Rain/Sand turns. EVs are also very standard; wanted a more spd but still be a good physical mon check, 0 spe for slow flip turns to tank a hit, switch out and heal up with regenerator. Heavy-Duty boots because im running hstack and facing a Court Change Cinderace will be sad with out Heavy-Duty boots and also running a hstack team allows the opponent to find opportunities to set up hazard. Again, the role of Alo is to provide wish support + be a tank. Alo also is a decent knock off absorber which makes its role on the team even more important.

Now i have my setter + best mon to support it. Further building an hstack will require to have a spin + defog blocker.

BLONDE the spin + defog blocker

Gholdengo is the best at that spin blocking and defog denial. Gholdengo's ability allows to block and punish Corviknight. He gets a free switch in on Corvi and is able to dish out t-waves to punish the switch in and make them slower and a easier matchup. STAB hex is good synergy with t-wave in dealing consistent damage without boosting. Dazzling Gleam for dragon types. Recover helps Gholdengo to be self sustainable. On the item, it was a toss up between Air balloon or Heavy-Duty Boots. Air balloon for completely blocking spinners and their common stab damage by ground type moves. But, I eventually went with Heavy-Duty boots because, as mentioned, helps with Court Change Cinderace or other hstack matchups. EVs are standard smogon EVs but im not sure what they are for :skull:. Tera Fairy for make the Dragapult matchup better.

Now ive got my setter, knock off absorber, and spin + defog blocker. Now im just looking for mons which can sweep with hazards or good knock off mons.

WOOPA the spd wall + knock offer #1

I decided on Hoopa U because it is such a cool mon + it fills a role on my team. Until now ive not had any dedicated special wall. Alo is alright but does not take strong spa moves. Here comes AV Hoopa-U. AV to boot Hoopa's already high spd stat. Knock off to remove opposing Heavy-Duty boots to make my hazard impactful; Psychic Noise for my stall matchup, denying healing; Ice Punch for gliscor + lando type mons; Thunderbolt for bulky waters. Again, EVs are from Smogon. Please lmk if they are ideal for the role hoopa is trying to fill. Tera Poison for resisting strong u-turns in certain situations.

GEKKO the knock offer #2

Next, I decided to go with Scizor because at this point I look very slow + very weak to fairy. Scizor provided strong priority with STAB + Technician boosted Bullet punches, Swords Dance allows Scizor to set up to deal even more damage. Close Combat as a strong physical move and Knock off to remove opposing Heavy-Duty boots, making hazard more impactful. EVs are just Max attack for maximum damage output and 248 hp to make scizor take hits easier. Tera Fire to avoid burns from either will-o-wisp or Moltres Flame Body. Shiny because GREEN. Scizor also works very well with wish support, making it stick out for longer, making it have goo synergy with the team.

VALEDICTORIAN the fast sweeper + knock offer #3
1725065338946.png

Finally, we have Iron-Valiant, my final knock off abuser. IVal is just a crazy good mon in general. Nothing can safely switch into mixed sets. Moonblast and Close Combat for crazy strong STAB moves. Once again, knock off to remove Heavy-Duty boots. and Encore to let it lock passive or set up mon into unfavorable moves. Booster Energy is spe boosting which helps with revenge killing by out speeding every mon in the tier(i think). Very very standard EVs and Tera. Max spe spa for maximum speed and damage. Tera Steel for resisting fairy and poison.

Thank you for reading it all!!! Im open to any and all suggestions on my team.

Hi there really cool team but there is some changes I would like to suggest.

1. Your team is really weak to :iron moth: so this leads me suggest :slowking-galar: >> :scizor: as much as I like scizor as well it really struggles overall in the meta with all the helmet chip. :Zapdos: , and :moltres: everywhere.

Slowking-Galar @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 16 Def / 240 SpD
IVs: 0 Spe
Tera Type: Water
Sassy Nature
- Future Sight
- Chilly Reception
- Sludge Bomb
- Thunder wave

Thunder wave

2. I would go boots :dragapult: >> :iron valiant: for proper speed control as it’s more in line with your balanced offense team. I decided to go with dual thunder wave as it helps :hoopa-unbound/ be more threatening than its para in its side.

Dragapult @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 76 Atk / 180 SpA / 252 Spe
Tera Type: Fairy
Naive Nature
- Dragon Darts
- Hex
- Thunder wave
- U-turn
3. Last small change I’ll probably suggest a bulky nasty plot :gholdengo: to avoid being too passive on the team.

Gholdengo @ Air Balloon
Ability: Good as Gold
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 HP / 196 Def / 60 Spe
Bold Nature
- Nasty Plot
- Shadow Ball
- Recover
- Make It Rain

you could give these changes a try and see if you like them happy laddering! Paste below

Thank you for your suggestions. I just have a question. After these changes, it reduces the number of mons that can use knock off, making it hard to remove opposing Heavy-Duty boots. Is that an ok trade off? Are there alternatives to the mons u suggested which have access to knock off?

Thank you.

Not really much worry usually 1-2 knock off mons are plenty enough.

Low key u don’t really need 2 ghost types so u can switch gholdengo or pult out for a knock off mon like weavile which threatens great tusk
