XY OU My Unorthodox Team (First RMT)

To preface this team, I would like to say that I enjoy using Pokemon that are not used much in the OU metagame because it helps give me a strategic advantage over my opponent. I did not make this team to be gimmicky or to troll. This team was built to compete in OU battles.

The main goal of this team is to prevent the opponent from doing what he/she wants to do as well as deceive them into thinking they have the advantage when they do not. So, my playstyle for this team varies depending on what the other team is trying to accomplish. I have been using variations of this team for about 6 months and the highest I have gotten is about 1600 on the ladder. However, it usually hovers around the 1400-1500 range.

Crobat @ Black Sludge
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Roost
- Taunt
- Haze
- Brave Bird

Crobat is one of the more standard Pokemon on this team. It is there to absorb hits, stallbreak, neutralize setup sweepers, prevent baton passing, and dish out the occasional brave bird for a revenge kill or damage. Infiltrator is used to get by subs and screens that were put up upon switching in. It is a great switch in after Weavile has finished with a revenge kill because it quad resists fighting and can handle most other hits intended for Weavile.

Weavile @ Expert Belt
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Ice Shard
- Knock Off
- Ice Punch
- Low Kick

For Weavile, the moveset is common, but the item is not. Weavile is a typical revenge killer/ late game sweeper that has added utility with knock off. I use expert belt to bluff a choice band/scarf until I get a chance to OHKO a switched in Pokemon. For example, if I kill something with low kick, players tend to send in gengar to force a switch. Then, I can ruin his day with a knock off.

Vileplume @ Black Sludge
Ability: Effect Spore
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Moonlight
- Aromatherapy
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb

This is when the team starts to get weird. I use Vileplume as a cleric as well as a weak special "tank". Vileplume is also here to block spore, toxic, and take special hits. I call it a "tank" because it helps damage switch ins. Most players figure Vileplume will not have any offensive moves, thus causing a switch in to powerful attackers. Upon switch in, these offensive threats are damaged by a predicted sludge bomb or giga drain. For example, Charizard X takes 40-47% from a sludge bomb. This gives Crobat an opportunity to take it out with a brave bird after it switches in on a dragon dance.

Torkoal @ Leftovers
Ability: Shell Armor
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Will-O-Wisp
- Lava Plume
- Rock Slide

Ok, so I first started using Torkoal in BW UU and it quickly became one of my favorite Pokemon. This thing is an absolute beast. It has a perfect type to deal with common stealth rocks users (Ferrothorn, Skarmory, etc.) and has rapid spin to get rid of them. My favorite Pokemon to counter with Torkoal is Galvantula. On the first turn it sets up sticky web and I bring it down to <10% with lava plume. Second turn, it uses thunder which takes away about 50% and I kill it with rapid spin. Works every time. Since Torkoal is such a beast, it can even take on Pokemon such as Azumarill, Landorus-T, Garchomp, and Excadrill by taking a super effective hit, then dishing out a Will-O-Wisp, effectively neutering the opposing Pokemon for the rest of the battle. Rock slide is for suprise killing Talonflame. Also, Scizor has no chance against this thing. If you remember anything about this RMT thread, remember that Torkoal is an absolute boss.

Cradily @ Leftovers
Ability: Storm Drain
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Recover
- Ancient Power
- Giga Drain
- Earth Power

Torkoal's biggest weakness? Special water attackers. This is where Cradily comes in. Cradily switches into any water attack (except Mega Gyrados waterfalls) and gains a 1.5X special attack boost. Cradily is here to absorb water and special attacks. While weak, Cradily's attacks have great coverage and wear down opponents that do not have access to recovery moves. Plus, it's always fun to beat a fire type with a grass type. Suck it, Heatran.

Relicanth @ Leftovers
Ability: Rock Head
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Head Smash
- Waterfall
- Yawn
- Earthquake

Finally, there's Relicanth. Relicanth is here to absorb physical hits and hit back HARD with head smash. Even unboosted, head smash does a lot of damage. It also has two coverage moves that could come in handy in a tight bind. However, this set's bread and butter is getting free head smashes on Pokemon by using yawn. The most effective strategy is to switch it in on a Pokemon it can easily beat (like, Talonflame). When Talonflame switches out, use yawn. Now, that team's best counter to Relicanth must switch out. Whatever switches in gets a massive head smash in its face (unless it misses).

That's pretty much it. Let me know if there's anything you'd fix.

Thanks
