This is my first team ever. I am a big pokemon fan but never got into competitive battling until now. Anyways, appreciate any help you can give me.
Steelix@Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP/4 Attack/252 Speed/
Nature: Careful
Ability: Sturdy
Moveset:
-Stone Edge
-Earthquake
-Stealth Rock
-Explosion
This lead has worked out great so far with this team. Most UU Leaders are weak to either stone edge or earthquake and of course stealth rock is great for not only weakening the opponent but for Drifblim to get a safe switch in on a Rapid Spin. Another use for Steelix is his potential as both a Flash Fire lure and a Fighting lure (another free switch in for Drifblim).
Donphan@Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP/188 Attack/68 Defense | 52 HP/252 Attack/204 Defense
Nature: Impish | Adamant
Ability: Sturdy
Moveset:
-Rapid Spin
-Assurance
-Stone Edge
-Earthquake
With a team like mine, I need a rapid spinner for sure (I stealth rock equals one less substitute right off the bat). Also, with out Donphan, Raikou would destroy my team unless I somehow miraculously set up before it. Stone edge is for Moltres. Assurance is for a predicted spin block. Earthquake is good old STAB. I have seen both of those EV/Nature configurations and after light testing, I haven’t seen much difference. Could some one explain the pros/cons of each?
Milotic@Leftovers
EVs: 248 HP/252 Defense/8 Speed
Nature: Bold
Ability: Marvel Scale
Moveset:
-Recover
-Hidden Power (Grass)
-Ice Beam
-Surf
Milotic takes care of water pokemon, dragons, grounds, fires and some flyings! In my opinion Milotic is one of the best UUers out there. She can take pretty much anything thrown at her and hits back pretty hard for a defensive pokemon.
Driftblim@Leftovers
EVs: 80 HP/176 Speed/252 Special Defense
Nature: Calm
Ability: Aftermath
Moveset:
-Hypnosis
-Shadow Ball
-Substitute
-Baton Pass
Drifblim makes the meatiest substitutes in UU. It’s not even a contest. Basically I try to get a good idea of my opponent’s team, get rid of entry hazards and wait for a predicted safe switch. Once Drifblim is in, she uses a fast hypnosis that hopefully sleeps the opponent. If not, either Drifblim has shrugged off a hit and I am ready for another hypnosis or I have made a terrible mistake on who to switch in to and Drifblim is done (barely ever happens now). Once the sleep hits, I get at least one free turn to substitute which I baton pass to either Toxicroak or Houndoom depending on their team.
Houndoom@Life Orb
EVs: 4 HP/252 Speed/252 Special Attack
Nature: Timid
Ability: Flash Fire
Moveset:
-Nasty Plot
-Flamethrower
-Dark Pulse
-Hidden Power (Electric)
If I use Drifblim correctly I may get two nasty plots (guaranteed one) or I may get to put Houndoom in early with Flash Fire. Flamethrower and Darkpulse are STAB. Hidden Power gets water types and flying types. If I get Houndoom setup properly, his sweep runs through pretty much everything but Chansey and Chansey is pretty much a safe switch for Drifblim set up Toxicroak.
Toxicroak@Life Orb
EVs: 4 HP/252 Attack/252 Speed
Nature: Jolly
Ability: Dry Skin
Moveset:
-Sword Dance
-Sucker Punch
-Cross Chop
-Stone Edge
Again, if I use Drifblim correctly I get 1-2 swords dances and usually one is enough. He runs through pretty much everything but steelix. Steelix though, will probably go for super effective earthquake, which is a free switch in for Drifblim to set up Houndoom (Sensing a pattern here?).
One major problem with this team is if some one sends out a Mismagius early-game, while I'm still weeding out problem members of their team, I'm forced to send an unboosted houndoom to try to take care of things and he only survives about half the time.
