my very first d/p team =)

so I went onto shoddy battle for the first time ever today, and I made a team all by myself without looking at any guids or anything... and probably not knowing all the names of the d/p pokemon. Anyway I'm sure it has lots of weaknesses but I like it and think its alot of fun. Had some success on shoddy, not great but some =)

Blastoise (M) @ leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP/152 Atk/104 Def
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Avalanche
- Earthquake
- Rapid Spin
- Aqua Jet

Because Blastoise is cool =) Aqua Jet has saved me from things often enough... but I am thinking of swapping it out for hydro pump
---
Arcanine (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 116 HP/252 Atk/140 Def
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Extremespeed
- Flare Blitz
- Agility
- Iron Tail

EDIT: Life Orb has treated Arcanine wonderfully. However I'm now begining to question the utility of Agility. Against competent people I am seldom able to get one off, as such should replace it? I still have extreme speed to hit fast. so I'm leaning twords running overheat or hp ice once again. I'm hesitant to remove Iron Tail for hidden power erf. After a passed swords dace Arcanine will OHKO Tyranitar with Tail. I doubt hp erf can say the same for itself... If I do drop agility how much speed should i have him? enough to outrun jolly cb ttar?
---

Leafeon (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Leaf Guard
EVs: 252 HP/6 Atk/252 Def
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Baton Pass
- Swords Dance
- Leaf Blade
- Aerial Ace

This is neo ldpb celebi, for me at anyrate... takes hits like a pro, and gets the dance passed to arcanine or snorlax. I've been thinking of going chesto rest over Aerial Ace, so that Leafeon can get another couple passes in before she dies. she also does a decent job of combating gyradoses and other nonsense... especially if they don't taunt the first dance
---
Snorlax (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 208 HP/200 Atk/100 SDef
Careful nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Body Slam
- Crunch
- Earthquake
- Sleep Talk

So I kinda figured my special defense was reallllllly lackign on this team. and he'd do allright with some dances passed to him. I'm thinking of running self destruct over rest? D/P seems really fast paced...
---
Salamence (F) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Draco Meteor
- Flamethrower
- Hydro Pump
- Dragon Pulse

I don't even play d/p and I know what this does
---
Gengar (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Substitute
- Focus Blast
- Explosion
- Shadow Ball

standard blah blah blah... or at least I'd imagine this would be standard... maybe focus sash would make it more standard... with hypnosis over sub but you get the goddamn idea

---

So looking over this I think I may have some gengar issues myself especially ones packing sludge bombz shadow ball on lax? or will pursuit suffice...

if you haven't allready noticed I have no idea what I'm doing... but am I at least on the right track?? ;)

EDIT: my knoweldge of items is super lacking, so I could use some help with those as well...

Eh just give Yanmega the Speed Boost HypnoTect Set. A lot more useful then what you are running. Magnezone would rather have leftovers or petaya berry since dugtrio is getting somewhat uncommon and change the evs to 252 SpA / 184 Spe / 72 HP. Consider Sub over Aerial Ace on Leafeon. Make Arcanine mixed with OverHeat, Hidden Power Ground, ExtremeSpeed, Flare Blitz/Agility to let it sweep better. He could use the Life Orb. Overheat would beat Gliscor easily enough so for HP Ice.

I'm a little put off by that Yanmega set. There's really no need to go for a physical/special split like that. The standard Yanmega (Air Slash / Bug Buzz / Hypnosis / Protect or Hidden Power Ice) would suit your purposes here. Tinted Lens won't be increasing your damage output by that much.

I'd definitely go with Hidden Power Ice on Magnezone - you don't have that much trouble against Swampert. Hitting those Dragon-types would be much more desirable. If you're worried about being hit with Earthquake, you can always run Magnet Rise. I don't think you need Shed Shell here, the odds of another Magnezone trapping you are fairly slim.

Leafeon could use Substitute or Wish over Aerial Ace, you'll find yourself wondering how you ever got by without that extra support.

Jolly Life Orb Mamoswine can give this team a fair bit of trouble once Leafeon has been weakened.

Once Infernape switches in, you're really on the ropes. You don't really have anything that can consistently take its attacks, and although you can revenge kill it, having to sacrifice another Pokemon to do so is far from ideal.

Speaking of Infernape, is there any reason you're not using it over Arcanine? I understand that it may be faster after an Agility, but Infernape just has a higher damage output from the get go. I'd consider running Flare Blitz / Thunderpunch / Stone Edge / Close Combat if you're really after making use of Swords Dance being passed around. Otherwise just go with Flamethrower / Close Combat / Grass Knot / Hidden Power Ice to give you excellent coverage against as many options as possible right from the start.

How does your team react to status? You don't currently have a status absorber, and Snorlax seems pretty primed to do so, carrying Rest already. In this case, I think you can probably afford to drop Pursuit in favor of Sleep Talk so you can still pose some sort of a threat while you're sleeping. You can also be a little less careful when switching Snorlax into status moves, knowing it can sleep them right off.

Physical moves are shit on Yanmega unless you are running U-Turn specifically because you can't get a good Hidden Power and want to escape dragons, Magnezone, Weavile and Heatran without taking a huge hit.

IMO Tinted Lens is fine if you run the Choice Specs set, which allows you to 2HKO steel types with just your STAB attacks, meaning anything that doesn't resist is pretty much dead unless it is Blissey.

Gengar wants Hypnosis or atleast Thunderbolt over Substitute. If you use Substitute put more attack EVs in and just use Focus Punch, then use Hypnosis or Thunderbolt>Explosion since Blissey gets raped by FP too.

Arcanine is outclassed by Infernape, but w/e.

I would drop Flash Cannon for Magnet Rise, or drop HP Grass for Magnet Rise. HP Grass only hits grounds harder than Thunderbolt would, which the ones you can fight are slower than you, making Magnet Rise better. Flash Cannon hits rocks and ice types harder than Thunderbolt, which could be useful but Magnet Rise again can make Rhyperior/Tyranitar angry.

Snorlax will want Sleep Talk or Curse or else you'll find it a dead weight in most situations.

Does Leafeon even learn Aerial Ace? Either way, use X-Scissor to hurt other grass types harder, like Celebi, while also hitting psychic/steels decently too. Maybe Wish since you have no spinner?

I've made several changes to how this team works

First I've replaced Yanmega with Blastoise, cause hes cool

Blastoise (M) @ leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP/152 Atk/104 Def
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Avalanche
- Earthquake
- Rapid Spin
- Aqua Jet

I dunno, sometimes it does cool things. and its nice to have against spiker heavy teams. I may give it surf or hidden power fia so it can bother forrey's better, but Aqua Jet has nailed me some suprise kills on very dangerous pokemon many times...

I also replaced magnezone with specs mence. I forgot about him. hes a special monster. With toise spikes aren't that bothersome.

Salamence (F) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Draco Meteor
- Flamethrower
- Hydro Pump
- Dragon Pulse

I've decided on running sleeptalk and crunch on lax. with the massive strengh of special sweepers these days I figured it would be worthwhile to be able to absorb status and still hit the even MORE popular gengar >_> its scary how much damage stuff does these days

EDIT: the primary reason I have Arieal Ace on Leafeon is to predict a heracross swich in. I suppose with mence and gar I shouldn't worry that much about hera, but with arcanine I'm not terribly afraid of celebi.
