My Very First OU team

Hello guys Im new to OU and 4th gen in general and Ive decided to assemble my own OU team. Im pretty pleased with it as a first team and a couple of people have analysed it for me

Metagross (METABOSS)
Role: Lead
Item: Occa Berry
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 248 HP 232 ATK 28 SPE
Stealth Rock
Earthquake
Bullet Punch
Explosion

I picked my lead first and Metagross was what came to mind since I like the idea of it as a lead, especially one that can explode. The occa berry seemed like the right choice to me so I ended up picking it but I am happy to take suggestions. This setup in general is pretty standard and I think the moveset can stay, I dont really like meteor mash to be honest and like I said, I think exploding leads are awesome. Metagross is pretty reliable to get stealth rock up and has decent offence. I have been advised to consider a flying/levitate lead however I'm not really sure if that will be better than metagross.

Swampert (Name not decided)
Role: Tank/Roar
Item: Leftovers
Nature: Relaxed
EVs 240 HP 216 DEF 52 SPD
Surf
Ice Beam
Earthquake
Roar

Swampert was something I considered when picking a lead, I like it because of its only 1 weakness. He fits into the team as a tank but also offers roar to force the oponent into taking more entry hazard damage and getting unwanted opponents out or even revealing the enemies team when used early on. His moveset gives him 2 powerful and reliable STAB attacks to get damage out and Ice Beam is a way to shoot down those pesky Gliscors, Zapdos' and Dragons. Another great thing is his immunity to electric attacks that do a lot of damage to my gyarados. I dont think theres anything really to change in terms of EVs item and movest for swampert and I would say if anything swap him out.

Gyarados (RAWR)
Role: Offensive DD sweeper
Item: Life Orb
Nature: Adamant/Jolly
EVs 252 ATK 4 DEF 252 SPE
Dragon Dance
Waterfall
Stone Edge
Earthquake

The first real offensive member to be added to my team was gyarados, he can be very scary once he gets some dances going and begins wrecking through their team. The nature is bolded as I had a tough time deciding on that. For item I chose life orb so my gyarados packs even more of a punch at the cost of recoil damage. I was worried about recoil when combined with the huge ammount of stealth rock damage gyarados takes but as you get to the end of my teams description you will see I have a rapid spinner. Stone edge and earthquake provide additional coverage and either could be replaced with ice fang if necessary. I went for the offensive DD set so I can really put out some damage with this thing. As I mentioned earlier swampert is very good help to this guys 4x weakness to lightning.

Infernape (ENFORCER)
Role: Special Sweeper (Special MixApe)
Item: Life Orb
Nature: Naive
EVs 64 Atk 252 SpA 192 Spe
Fire Blast
Close Combat
Grass Knot
Hidden Power Ice/Nasty Plot

Infernape was the next addition to my team and this is a good choice because of extra coverage and a way to beat down on an enemy physical wall giving my gyarados trouble. The moveset is pretty solid and Hidden Power ice is almost certainly the better option however I left nasty plot as a possiblity just in case.

Breloom (Name Not Decided)
Role: Sweeper (SporePuncher)
Item: Toxic Orb
Nature: Adamant
EVs 12 HP 252 ATK 244 SPE
Spore
Focus Punch
Seed Bomb
Stone Edge

Next up is Breloom an awesome additon. It brings to my team spore a reliable status inducer allowing me to pull of heavy focus punches while my target is asleep. Seed bomb offers more coverage and stone edge could be replaced with sub however I think more people expect the substitute and can be surprised when I land a very powerful stone edge on a flyer.

Forretress (NUTSHELL)
Role: Rapid Spinner, Spiker, Special Wall
Item: Leftovers
Nature: Sassy (+SpD - Spe)
EVs 252 HP 252 SpD 4 DEF
Rapid Spin
Explosion
Gyroball
Spikes

Last of all is forretress, he is there for spinning of stelath rocks for my gyarados to switch in without worrying too much, setting up spikes as even more entry hazard damage and he functions as a special wall. Swampert can already be used as a physical wall or a sort of inbetween but this is pure special defense. Once again I love exploding once the intended function has been acomplished so that earns a slot in the moves.

Sorry if I'm not fully in depth, Im new to this.
EDIT: Also sorry for the lack of pictures :(

I can see life orb starmie and offense suicune giving troubles here by posing immediate threat to every member with wide coverage. A lack of an efficient spin-blocker also hurts. For this case try Rotom-W over swampert to kepp the electric resistance with 252HP 252 satk 4def with the moves hydro pump thunderbolt trick shadowball and a choice scarf to handle bulky waters and trick stat-uppers and now you have an efficent way to handle gengar. The hp evs lets you take gyarados dd waterfall and forretress payback better.

EDIT: yea changed my suggestion

Thanks for the reply. Something I didnt mention is that I feel like I dont have a good way to deal with gengar. You think Ill be alright with then?

Hey zaze I think you talked to me on serebii chat i did an IV battle with you remember? :P I'm agreeing with Rotom-W over swapert as it would help counter both starmie and suicune and block rapid spins of course I'd probably go with Adamant on the gyrados purely because it will outspeed anything that isn't scarfed besides ninjask.

Also If your wanting a pure special sweeper for Infernape Id try this set instead:

Infernape (ENFORCER)
Role: Special Sweeper (Special MixApe)
Item: Life Orb
Nature: Naive
EVs 252 SpA 252 Spe 4Spd
Flamethrower
Vaccum Wave
Grass Knot / Focus Blast
Nasty Plot

This would give you another priority move with stab on top of bullet pucnh which is also good. And Flamethrower over Fire Blast is probably a must. Fire Blast will often miss when you need it the most and if it does its normally bye bye infernape. Im saying nasty plot over HP Ice purely it will make ape hit ALOT harder and you can probably deal with most dragons and what other ice wekaness pokes purely by taking hits on forry and causing switches and what not. Another thing is to sacrifise Grass knot for focus blast while this would give you less type coverage a STAB focus blast will sting like a bitch but of course again it may not always hit and thats always costly for infernape.

I think I battled you earlier today (I just posted my own RMT if you need refreshing). I remember your Breloom gave me tons of trouble, though IIRC your Gyarados wasn't used too well. Don't really want to get too into it, though, as I'm a newbie myself.

please change stone edge on breloom to substitute it really helps for easing prediction and getting free damage of after you've spored other than that it looks solid :)
good luck with the team :)

Thanks for all the posts so far, sorry I havent switched the few suggestions into my original post yet but they will be going into the team.

@ The guy saying he battled me, Ive never used this team yet :P must be someone with a similar team

~

First off, Starmie completely destroys this team with Swampy out of the way. Second of all, the guy from Serebii was WROOOOOOOOOONG about Rotom-A countering Starmie, cuz Rotom-A is 2HKOed by a LO Surf. No switching in, bud.

To remedy this, I would swap out Forry- Who I really feel doesn't fit on such an offensive team- and change it to a Scarfed Tyranitar. I'm way too lazy to spell it out, so you're going to have to go to the analysis. >_>

Second off, I agree Swampy doesn't belong on this team, but I feel that it could be replaced by Vaporeon, who can pass Wishes along as well as patch up the current DD Gyarados weakness you seem to possess after my examination.

Vaporeon @ Leftovers
252 HP/216 Defense/40 Speed/36 Special Attack
Bold

~Surf
~HP Electric
~Wish
~Protect

I HOPE it helps, but I'm brain dead currently, so do whatever you want with my advice.
