Well, I'm releltivly new to battling, and Pokemon in general. I decided I was going to attempt http://www.smogon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3464555. This removes the top ten essential Pokemon for most teams in the OU tier. After some messing around, I put together a team that is not perfect, nowhere near it. So that's why I'm asking you guys for help as to how I can improve my team and make it the best it can be. I've only peaked at around 1100 points on PO so there's definitely room for improving.
As you can most likely see, my team is a little bit messy, that's why I'm going to need your guy's help to make it the best it can be. Thank you if you're reading this and actually got this far (I know, I'm a bit boring.) Please post your suggestions, no matter what it is. You guys are obviously more qualified than me to be making decisions as I just got into pokemon about a week ago. Thanks~
My team at a glance.
A closer look.

Sand Stream
252 HP/252 Def/4 SDef
Impish
Stealth Rock
Slack Off
Ice Fang
Earthquake
I always thought Hippowdon was cooler than Tyranitar anyway. He is usually my lead most of the time, mostly to set up stealth rocks and to get a sandstorm going. I pretty pumped him into def/hp to keep him alive, and keep the sandstorm going for a reason unknown. Stealth Rock is to set up hazards that will hurt the player upon switching out. Slack Off for recovery to stay alive. Ice Fang to take out gliscors/dragons that would otherwise rape my team. Earthquake for a STAB attack that would can do reasonable damage.

Sand Veil
Adamant
252 Att/252 Spe/4 Def
Substitute
Earthquake
Acrobatics
Swords Dance
Pretty much the only reason I have sandstorm on this team for this first place. After one swords dance I'm ready to take on almost anything. EVs are put into attack for more damage capability and speed so I'm able to attack first. Flying gem is to boost Acrobatics power and hit hard. In the sandstorm Gliscors evasion increases 20%, so I set up a sub and hope that the opponent misses and I set up from there.

Levitate
Timid
252 Satk/252 Spe/4 HP
Recover
Calm Mind
Surf
Dragon Pulse
Latios is my go to pokemon. Life orb is for that extra damage to put dents into strong defensive pokemon that would otherwise wall the damage. Recover is used to stay alive. Calm mind to help set up. Dragon Pulse to kill those pesky dragons that would pretty much sweep my whole team if Latios wasn't here to stay. I'm not sure why I put surf on there, but I think it had to do with the fact that I had nothing to kill fire pokes other than Cloyster. I was thinking of changing surf to Hidden Power Fire to take on those annoying steel types coming in to wall the dragon type attacks.

Jolly
Skill Link
252 Atk/252 Spe/4 Def
Shell Smash
Hydro Pump
Icicle spear
Rapid Spin
Cloyster is just a pokemon that I threw in because I thought it would be cool. Plus, I needed a rapid spinner to get rid of enemy hazards. Shell smash is just amazing, with only one downsi- wait nevermind, that's what white herb is for. Hydro pump to get rid of Heatran who is a pokemon that I'm not too fond of. Icicle spear thanks to Cloyster's blessed ability Skill Link. Whenever I see a water type attack coming and my Gastrodon has already been killed, I send out Cloyster because he's the only one that's able to do that, but that majorily hurts Cloyster quite a bit so I'm looking for suggestions on how to handle this problem, because water could really hurt my team.

Iron Fist
252 Atk/252 Spe/4 Satk
Close Combat
U-Turn
Overheat
Mach Punch
Nothing really much to say here, just Infernape. Life orb for that extra damage. Close combat to kill Heatran and put a dent into almost anything it hits. U-Turn for scouting and just to piss people off. Overheat to deal with Ferrothorn and Scizor. Mach Punch for a priority move which could mean life or death for Infernape. He's also for those grass types that would otherwise kill me.

Sassy
Storm Drain
252 HP/252 SpD/4 SpA
Toxic
Earthquake
Scald
Recover
No idea why this thing is on my team. It was recommended to me by a friend. It works well with Infernape switching out on water attacks and absorbing them for a boost in SpA. I use Gastrodon mostly for stalling with toxic and recover. Earthquake and Scald are there for STAB attacks. I was thinking of replacing him with Breloom because I could really like the spore+subpunch combo.
