This is a team that I've used for some time and I have been successful with it, but I think that there's room for improvement. I hope you guys have some useful advice for me :D
Latias @ Soul Dew
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 112 HP / 204 SAtk / 192 Spd
Timid Nature
- Grass Knot
- Roost
- Draco Meteor
- Thunder
First up is latias. I chose her for checking the two major weather starters of the tier, groudon and kyogre. She can switch into anything that kyogre throws at her and proceed to Ko with grass knot or thunder. She can also switch into almost anything by groudon bar banded dragon claw and Ko with grass knot. The given spread allows her to outspeed jolly garchomp and be able to only be 3hko'd by specs kyogres water spout without stealth rock damage of course. Roost is for healing off any damage that she takes, but she must watch out for scarf genesect who can 1hko with u turn.
Skarmory @ Leftovers
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Impish Nature
- Roost
- Toxic
- Whirlwind
- Spikes
Next on this list is skarmory, who I chose for spike setting. Spike stacking is dangerous, especially in ubers and there's no better setter of spikes than skarmory. He can tank almost every physical hit in the game. Toxic is for crippling stallers and the physical attackers that it walls. Whirlwind is to phaze out those who think they can set up on skarmory. I ran a physically defensive spread because he wasn't walling anything note able with investment in special defense.
Excadrill @ Leftovers
Trait: Mold Breaker
EVs: 176 HP / 64 Atk / 232 SDef / 36 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Rapid Spin
- Rock Slide
- Swords Dance
Excadrill is usually seen on offensive sand teams but he can fulfill a role as a bulky spinner. He is probably one of the only spinners that can also pack a punch. Earthquake and rapid spin are staples on this set and rock slide allows him to defeat Ho-oh. The reason I run mold breaker on this set is because of the giratina origin that attempts to check me. The given ev spread allows me to outspeed Base 90s with 8 speed evs while still being able to take a special hit.
Chansey (F) @ Eviolite
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SDef
Careful Nature
- softboiled
- Toxic
- Seismic toss
- Stealth Rock
Chansey is one of the greatest walls of this generation. With an enormous HP stat, she needs almost no investment in hp. This is why I filtered everything else into defense and special defense. The first 3 moves are self explanatory but I'm having her carry stealth rocks for both the surprise factor and because she is all but garunteed to set up stealth rock with her awesome switches that she forces (ex. Kyogre, special palkia, and basically every special attacker in the tier)
Arceus-Ghost @ Spooky Plate
Trait: Multitype
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Judgment
- Will-O-Wisp
- Recover
- Flamethrower
Arceus, the god of pokemon, descends to earth taking a defensive role in his ghostly form. Judgement is for a good stab move that dents most other pokemon in the tier. Flamethrower is to beat ferrothorn and forretress who would otherwise give this set trouble. And Wil-o-wisp is to cripple physical attackers like groudon or zekrom.
Zekrom @ Leftovers
Trait: Teravolt
EVs: 248 Def / 252 HP / 8 Spd
Impish Nature
- Dragon Claw
- Bolt Strike
- Substitute
- Hone Claws
Zekrom is more of a placeholder here meaning he is subject to change. But he is not useless by any means. The set for arceus checks ferrothorn but doesnt counter it like zekrom does. Zekrom just has to set up a substitute and ferrothorn can't do anything to it while it sets up hone claws. It also checks Ho-oh which is also problematic. I ran a physically defensive spread because zekrom's attack is already high. I ran the 8 speed evs for winning the inevitable speed creep between other base 90s.
So that's my team. Feel free to make changes that you feel are necessary :)
