With Nasty Plot, Rotom-C becomes a potent wallbreaker that can capitalize on bulky Water- and Ground-types like Slowbro, Hippowdon, and Gastrodon. Leaf Storm is Rotom-C's most powerful STAB option, threatening Electric-resistant or -immune Pokemon like Raikou and Rhyperior while also KOing Gardevoir after Stealth Rock damage and a Nasty Plot boost. Thunderbolt acts as a spammable STAB move that doesn't remove Rotom-C's accumulated boosts unlike Leaf Storm or Volt Switch. However, it leaves Rotom-C walled by the likes of Cyclizar, Hisuian Goodra, and Wo-Chien. As such, Volt Switch can be used instead to pivot out of unfavorable matchups while also accumulating valuable chip damage. Pain Split lets Rotom-C stay healthy, especially against bulky Pokemon such as Chansey and Wo-Chien, potentially allowing it to beat them one-on-one. Thunder Wave can be used to cripple faster threats such as Noivern, Maushold, and Jirachi while also crippling one of Rotom-C's biggest checks, Cyclizar; however, Cyclizar gains a slow U-turn that can be used against it while still allowing Cyclizar to comfortably switch into Rotom-C, so the move can't be used to beat it one-on-one. Will-O-Wisp cripples physical attackers such as Bisharp and Slither Wing on the switch, leaving them open to being walled by Rotom-C's teammates. Tera Steel allows it to avoid Toxic from the likes of Umbreon, Fezandipiti, and Quagsire while also being a generally good defensive typing paired with Rotom-C's Levitate; this lets it check offensive threats such as Salamence, Gardevoir, and Mamoswine in a pinch.
Rotom-C is great on balance and bulky offense teams, using its unique defensive profile to repeatedly switch in and pressure the opponent. If it opts to use Volt Switch, it can even act as a pivot to bring in big threats such as Galarian Zapdos, Krookodile, and Mamoswine. Galarian Zapdos is a particularly good partner, as it can chain its U-turn with Rotom-C's Volt Switch, putting immense pressure on the opponent, especially with entry hazards in the picture. Other good partners include Slither Wing and Barraskewda, which can use U-turn and Flip Turn, respectively, to bring in Rotom-C against Hippowdon and Slowbro. Spikes users such as Gastrodon and Klefki are excellent complements to Rotom-C, which greatly appreciates checks like Hisuian Goodra and Chansey being worn down by Spikes, especially if it's running Volt Switch. If Rotom-C opts to run Thunder Wave, it can pair up with other special attackers such as Volcanion, Gengar, and Basculegion-F that enjoy facing a crippled Cyclizar. All of them also invite in Hisuian Goodra, making for fierce pairings that pressure and wear it down. Slowbro makes for a nice partner due to its ability to check the various threats that Rotom-C invites in, particularly Entei and Jirachi. In return, Rotom-C can pivot to Slowbro with Volt Switch while also checking Raikou and bulky Water-types like Empoleon and Suicune.
