National Dex AMs General Discussion Thread
art pending
Welcome to the National Dex AMs General Discussion Thread! The purpose of this thread is to have a place to discuss about miscellaneous NatDex AMs, workshop ideas for an NatDex AM, and to serve as a SQSA for both of the aforementioned. Feedback is always encouraged, and anyone is welcome to post in the thread!

Re: Submissions
– Please make sure your NatDex AM follows the guidelines below. As always, other National Dex forum rules and Smogon global rules apply.
– Make sure your metagame idea isn't blacklisted or a current metagame.
– Feedback will eventually come to your post, so please be patient! Rather it be someone you don't know or a moderator, appreciate that you are getting reception.

How to Create a Metagame Idea

General Rules

– All new metagames need to go through the submission process before you can post them. See the steps below on how to do that. Tournaments and projects are approved on a case-by-case basis, you can DM a forum moderator about it.
– You need to have at least 10 posts in the National Dex forum before you can submit an idea. Use that time to become familiar with the community!
Users can submit one new metagame per month regardless of the submission being approved or rejected.
– Every metagame needs a secondary leader (or a council). This is a rule that exists to ensure there is someone able to take over should the host become inactive.

Create Process

Step 1)
Look in the Index (pending creation). Does it already exist? Does something similar exist? Has something similar already been denied? If you see it, don't make it.

Step 2)
Use the General Discussion thread (this thread!) to workshop ideas. The thread allows you to receive feedback so you can tweak your concept before officially submitting it. It is also a good idea to search if similar ideas have been brought up before. If the feedback is mostly positive, continue to the next step.

Step 3) Make sure you follow these guidelines below:
  1. Is the idea feasible? We want to make sure the idea will have good reception with the community; if you feel otherwise about it try to fix that problem before you submit your metagame.
  2. Can it be coded? Sometimes National Dex formats can be a little wonky with additional rules, so just make sure the code you want to use is fully functional.
  3. Is the council active and prepared to host a new metagame? Should be checked beforehand but we don't want anyone inactive on the council of any metagame, please make sure you'll be around often!
  4. Do you have any idea on what can be acted on? A preliminary radar of elements that could be banned would be good to have a clear pathway of the tiering of your metagame and what can follow.
  5. Is your starting ruleset sufficient? Also should be checked beforehand, but please make sure you have the correct clauses, bans, code, etc. in your metagame.

Step 4) Now comes the wait. You will likely get reception from people in say, a few days to 1 week. You are allowed to bump your ideas if there is a prolonged amount of time with no feedback, but please do not pester people about it repeatedly. Be sure to respond accordingly to those who are interested or question your metagame!

Step 5) If you have overall positive reception, check in with your council and go to the submission section of NatDex AMs! Be sure to check the guidelines on how to submit as well.

Besides that, feel free to use the thread as you would like!
