Cycle 32: Pivot Raging Bolt

:sv/raging bolt:

Raging Bolt @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Electric
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 20 Atk
- Thunderclap
- Draco Meteor
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt

Boasting a monstrous 137 SpA and good natural bulk, Raging Bolt functions as an excellent offensive pivot, being able to apply pressure very easily with its good STAB combination, while also being able to utilise its good defensive typing to effectively soft check certain Pokemon while also dishing out great damage in return. How will you build around the longest neck in Pokemon?

:normalium-z: :cinderace:
Cinderace @ Normalium Z
Ability: Libero
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Pyro Ball
- Double-Edge
- U-turn

U-turn lets you pretend to be pivot Cinderace, which invites Raging Bolt in. Then it either dies to +2 Breakneck Blitz or...
252 Atk Libero Cinderace Breakneck Blitz (190 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Raging Bolt: 309-364 (79 - 93%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
Doesn't kill but its still a lot I guess.

:sv/buzzwole:
Buzzwole @ Groundium Z / Muscle Band / Life Orb / Soft Sand
Ability: Beast Boost
Tera Type: Bug
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Bulk Up
- Earthquake
- Ice Punch
- Drain Punch

This is a lure since most Buzzwoles barely invest in max speed and attack, thus the Bolt user will think it's a free Draco/Volt Switch. Bulk Up on the switch, then hit them with the EQ. All items can be used to make EQ an OHKO.

:soft-sand: +1 252 Atk Soft Sand Buzzwole Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Raging Bolt: 446-526 (114 - 134.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
:Groundium-z: +1 252 Atk Buzzwole Tectonic Rage (180 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Raging Bolt: 668-786 (170.8 - 201%) -- guaranteed OHKO
:muscle-band: +1 252 Atk Muscle Band Buzzwole Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Raging Bolt: 408-482 (104.3 - 123.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO
:life-orb: +1 252 Atk Life Orb Buzzwole Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Raging Bolt: 484-569 (123.7 - 145.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
:raging-bolt: 252 SpA Raging Bolt Thunderclap vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Buzzwole: 196-232 (55.2 - 65.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Serperior @ Dragonium Z
Ability: Contrary
Tera Type: Grass
EVs: 208 HP / 252 SpA / 48 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Leaf Storm
- Dragon Pulse
- Glare
- Substitute

Behold the funniest anti-bolt set. Draco Z off of dragon pulse 2hkos allowing for dragon pulse or leaf storm to KO the following turn. Serperior is also bulky enough to live bolt's Draco and thunderclap at -2 SpA. With 48 evs, it outspeeds bolt by 1 point ensuring it cannot be killed by another Draco the following turn.

Onto the next we go:

Cycle 33: Mega Venusaur

:sm/Venusaur-Mega:

Venusaur-Mega @ Venusaurite
Ability: Chlorophyll
Tera Type: Grass
EVs: 252 HP / 156 Def / 100 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Earth Power
- Synthesis

With a great defensive profile consisting of good defences and typing into the meta, Mega Venusaur has cemented itself as an excellent answer to many common Pokemon in the tier. When coupled with its solid damage output and coverage Venusaur can be an extremely annoying Pokemon to switch into for unprepared teams. How will you build around this wonderful frog?
