Venusaur-Mega @ Venusaurite
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 252 HP / 152 SpA / 104 Spe
Modest Nature
- Sludge Bomb
- Earth Power
- Knock Off / Giga Drain
- Synthesis
With Thick Fat leaving it with only two weaknesses and phenomenal stats across the board, Mega Venusaur has blossomed into a powerful force in National Dex UU! Sludge Bomb and Earth Power threaten many of the best Pokemon in the tier, such as Aegislash, Clefable, Excadrill, and Iron Moth, and foes like Mega Latias and Hydreigon can be crippled if poisoned by Sludge Bomb. Knock Off is used to punish Celesteela by removing its Leftovers, as it would wall Mega Venusaur otherwise. However, Giga Drain can threaten foes such as Ting-Lu and Greninja and beat Mega Tyranitar, which would otherwise annoy Mega Venusaur by cutting into Synthesis recovery with Sand Stream. 104 Speed EVs allow Mega Venusaur to outrun Tyranitar and Adamant Aegislash. While it has notable weaknesses to Psychic- and Flying-types, such as Alakazam and Mega Aerodactyl, Mega Venusaur is often seen alongside partners such as Ting-Lu and Celesteela that can cover them. In return, it can take on threats like Tapu Fini, Keldeo, and Zeraora. It can also struggle to break through Celesteela and Skarmory, so options that threaten them, such as Rotom-W and Victini, are notable. Rotom-W and Victini also pivot Mega Venusaur in against their checks, like Hydrapple and Quagsire.
