Hi guys, this is my VGC Nationals team. Was wondering if anyone had other tips/recommendations:
Alakazam @ Alakazite
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Psychic
- Dazzling Gleam
- Taunt
- Protect
He's my only Mega-evolved Pokemon on this team. His Psychic is used to take out Charizards with 1-2 hits and will try to dish out as much damage as I can with him in play. Taunt is used to counter Kangaskhan and Trick Room and protect is needed for the obvious. He has great speed, and will definitely be good for the lategame.
Bisharp @ Occa Berry
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Iron Head
- Stone Edge
- Sucker Punch
- Psycho Cut
I'm thinking about taking Psycho Cut out as I already have Psychic coverage with Alakazam for Swords Dance or something. his STAB's will generally dish out enough damage to OHKO with a Swords Dance boost. Possibly Protect, but I wouldn't know what to take out.
Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 30 Def / 30 SpA / 30 SpD
- Hydro Pump
- Will-O-Wisp
- Thunderbolt
- Protect
Will O Wisp is nice for support and crippling threats like Garchomp and Mawile. He's perfect for taking down overused Pokemon like Talonflame/Charizard which are probably on many every teams at Nationals with Thunderbolt and Hydro Pump.
Talonflame @ Choice Band
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
IVs: 30 Def / 30 SpD / 30 Spe
- Flare Blitz
- Brave Bird
- U-turn
- Steel Wing
Nidoqueen (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
- Earth Power
- Ice Beam
- Focus Blast
- Thunderbolt
It was a toss up between Nidoking and Nidoqueen for me, but I ended up deciding on Nideoqueen due to its moveset. She can survive a Heat Wave from Charizard and knock back almost 90%+ damage. I'm not too sure on the current EV Spread, it should have a bulky spread.
Ferrothorn @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 30 Atk / 30 Def / 30 SpA / 0 Spe
- Gyro Ball
- Leech Seed
- Protect
- Stealth Rock
If I ever use this guy, I will probably use him first. Try to hit my opponent with Stealth Rock which will last me for the rest of the game. My offensive glue and can take down Rotom-Wash. I was thinking of maybe adding Thunder Wave and/or Power Whip as my grass coverage instead of Leech Seed for quick take downs and also good against mega Kangha.
