UU Necrozma [qc 3/3] [gp 2/2]

[OVERVIEW]
Necrozma's unique traits as both a Stealth Rock setter and wallbreaker allow it to fit well on bulky offensive teams. Its high offensive stats, decent bulk, and access to Stealth Rock make it a good offensive entry hazard setter. Necrozma's ability, Prism Armor, lets it mitigate some of the damage from super effective attacks, contributing to Necrozma's overall longevity throughout the match. Prism Armor also lowers damage from Pursuit, allowing Necrozma to switch more freely. Necrozma's strong STAB move in Photon Geyser hits most neutral targets hard, and with coverage moves such as Heat Wave, Signal Beam, and Ground-type options, it can punish the Dark-, Psychic-, and Steel- types that are immune to or resist its STAB move. However, Necrozma's Psychic typing is not beneficial for it, as it lacks a secondary STAB attack while also being weak to many common Pokemon like Hydreigon, Gengar, and Scizor. Necrozma also has a very mediocre Speed stat, which prevents it from flourishing in the metagame, as it is unable to outspeed maximally invested base 80s and above, such as Mega Altaria, Togekiss, and Chandelure.

Moves
========

Stealth Rock allows Necrozma to function as an effective offensive entry hazard setter with a comfortable balance of longevity and offensive presence. Photon Geyser is a consistent and powerful Psychic-type attack that has no drawbacks. Heat Wave allows Necrozma to hit Steel-types such as Scizor, Magneton, and Klefki that resist Photon Geyser. Signal Beam can be run to threaten Dark-types such as Mega Sharpedo and Hydreigon, although is often quite weak. Earthquake can be used to 2HKO Alolan Muk without HP investment, even with a Timid nature.

Set Details
========

Maximum Special Attack investment lets Necrozma hit as hard as possible. With the given Speed EVs in combination with a Timid nature, Necrozma is able to outspeed Pokemon like Scizor, Metagross, and Volcanion. Prism Armor is Necrozma's only ability and reduces damage taken from super effective attacks. Metronome allows Necrozma to beat many entry hazard removers, such as Mantine and Mega Altaria, while also preventing Latias from repeatedly using Roost against Signal Beam. However, Metronome will somewhat limit Necrozma's longevity. Iapapa Berry restores 50% of Necrozma's HP in a pinch, helping it stay alive longer and perform its duties more consistently. Life Orb can be run to increase Necrozma's power, but it wears Necrozma down significantly and also prevents it from coming onto the field as often.

Usage Tips
========

Necrozma should get Stealth Rock up as soon as possible to punish the many switches that it is able to force due to its threatening movepool. If using Metronome, Necrozma should be used to spam Photon Geyser to force entry hazard removers out of play before setting up Stealth Rock and put pressure on them to prevent them from using Defog. When using Iapapa Berry, be conscious of when Necrozma is low on HP to prevent it from being knocked out before its Berry activates. Carefully using residual damage from weather, status, and entry hazards to your advantage can help Necrozma activate its Berry in a controlled manner if it cannot reliably stay in on a foe's attack. Photon Geyser is powerful and should be used most of the time; however, keep in mind that it has relatively low PP. Status conditions, particularly Toxic poison, can cripple Necrozma and put it on a timer.

Team Options
========

Necrozma should be used as a Stealth Rock setter on offensive teams that appreciate its strong offensive presence. Wallbreakers that threaten Dark- and Steel-types, such as Heracross, Scizor, and Terrakion, appreciate the Stealth Rock support that Necrozma offers, since it allows them to secure some KOs they would miss out on without the chip damage. Pokemon that work well on bulky offense teams with Necrozma, such as pivots like Scizor and tanks like Mega Aggron, can be effective partners as well. Necrozma also appreciates cleric support from Pokemon like Togekiss and Sylveon. Other Pokemon that threaten Dark-types, such as Mega Altaria and Cobalion, also synergize well with Necrozma.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Photon Geyser is a powerful and reliable STAB attack. Earth Power allows Necrozma to chunk Steel-types that resist Photon Geyser and lets it hit Alolan Muk super effectively. Heat Wave is a good coverage move for Steel-types that take Earth Power neutrally, particularly Scizor, and it also hits Celebi. Signal Beam allows Necrozma to damage Dark- and Psychic-types, such as Mega Absol, Mega Sharpedo, Krookodile, Celebi, and Latias. Power Gem can be run to hit Pokemon like Mandibuzz and Moltres for more damage. Psyshock is an option over Photon Geyser that allows Necrozma to 2HKO Blissey. Dark Pulse is an alternative option for the fourth moveslot that lets Necrozma hit Ghost-types like Chandelure and Gengar and Psychic-types like Celebi and Latias without having to choose between Signal Beam, Heat Wave, and Earth Power.

Set Details
========

Prism Armor is Necrozma's ability and helps it survive longer by sponging some of the damage from super effective attacks, including Pursuit. Choice Specs boosts Necrozma's Special Attack immensely, allowing it to hit hard with its STAB attack and good coverage. Maximum Special Attack and Speed investment and a Timid Nature allow Necrozma to hit as hard and fast as possible. A more defensive EV spread of 72 HP / 252 SpA / 184 Spe with a Modest nature can be used for additional longevity.

Usage Tips
========

Necrozma can be used as an early-game wallbreaker with its powerful no-drawback STAB attack in Photon Geyser, as it is able to break down teams that lack a sturdy Psychic-resistant or Psychic-immune Pokemon. Necrozma should be used with good prediction, as being able to use the proper coverage moves against common switch-ins to Photon Geyser, such as Scizor, Latias, Hydreigon, and Alolan Muk, can turn the tide of a game in your favor. Necrozma often can be a good lead due to its sheer power, the unpredictability of its set, and its ability to downplay Pursuit trapping thanks to Prism Armor. Necrozma needs to be cautious of Photon Geyser's low PP, as Pokemon such as Suicune, Moltres, and Kyurem can deplete it quite quickly.

Team Options
========

Pokemon that set up entry hazards, such as Swampert and Cobalion, are able to chip foes on the switch and ease Necrozma's wallbreaking. Necrozma enjoys Spikes to help chip down Pokemon like Swampert and Sylveon into OHKO and 2HKO range, respectively, so Spikes setters such as Klefki can be effective teammates. Fairy- and Fighting-type Pokemon, such as Mega Altaria, Primarina, Infernape, Terrakion, and Cobalion, are able to check Dark-types that generally threaten Necrozma. Dark- and Ghost-type teammates like Alolan Muk, Krookodile, Hydreigon, and Gengar can remove opposing Ghost- and Psychic-types for Necrozma, which it appreciates greatly. The former two can Pursuit trap many of those Pokemon as well. Necrozma also appreciates both defensive and offensive pivots, such as Scizor, Infernape, and Mega Manectric, which allow Necrozma to get in safely and hit a foe hard.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

A physical Swords Dance set using Groundium Z and Earthquake can effectively beat a lot of standard Necrozma answers, such as Blissey, Alolan Muk, and many Steel-types. However, this set is easily revenge killed and prone to being crippled by status. A defensively oriented Stored Power set consisting of Moonlight / Calm Mind / Stored Power / Rock Polish can be used as well, but this variant of Necrozma is completely walled by Dark-types and extremely susceptible to Toxic. A set featuring Rock Polish along with a Weakness Policy can be used for Necrozma to instantly gain fast and powerful wallbreaking capabilities, but it tends to be unreliable, as it is overly dependent on getting hit by a super effective move.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Dark-types**: Dark-types, such as Hydreigon, Krookodile, and Mega Houndoom, are immune to Photon Geyser and take significantly less damage from Necrozma's coverage moves; however, all of them except Alolan Muk fear Signal Beam, and both Alolan Muk and Mega Houndoom need to watch out for Earth Power.

**Strong Attackers**: Strong attackers such as Hydreigon, Flyinium Z Moltres, and Dragonium Z Latias can OHKO Necrozma and prevent it from getting up Stealth Rock. Most wallbreakers can beat Necrozma because of its average Speed.

**Special Walls**: Special walls like Blissey and Empoleon take little damage from Necrozma's attacks and are able to threaten it in return with Toxic, though Empoleon has no reliable recovery and takes a chunk from Earth Power and Earthquake. Mandibuzz is also able to cripple Necrozma with Knock Off.

**Faster Threats**: Pokemon that outspeed Necrozma like Gengar, Mega Beedrill, and Chandelure can KO it. Faster Taunt users like Azelf, Krookodile, and Mandibuzz can prevent Necrozma from doing its job effectively.

Hi this is not an official QC check and you shouldn't implement this.
  • Overview
=Remove the mentions of X-scissor and EQ in its movepool because as of right now swords dance is not one of its main sets.

=Mention that the setup options and such aren't all viable in the UU metagame; you can still mention them because one or two of them are in other options, but be sure to clarify that not all options for setup are viable in the UU metagame.

=Mention necrozma's really mediocre Speed stat and how that causes it to struggle somewhat in the meta.

  • Stealth Rock

  1. Set Details&the set itself

=putting aside the fact that you state that timid necrozma outspeeds standard tentacruel and imply that modest max speed necrozma doesn't outspeed Scizor, I would recommend changing the primary spread to 88 HP / 252 SpA / 188 Spe with a Modest nature to outspeed max speed adamant breloom and jolly bewear/timid prima (lol) because Necrozma really does not enjoy being spored/bullet seeded by Breloom and being able to photon it before it does that is really, really nice, referencing the max speed spa timid spread in set details to outspeed jolly Breloom and slower variants of Gliscor and 112 hp / 252 SpA / 144 Spe modest also in set details to just outspeed ada sciz.

  1. Usage Tips
=You state that status puts Necrozma on a timer, but don't say what that means for necro; state that Necrozma should avoid staying in on Pokemon that commonly use Toxic such as Alomomola unless necessary.

  • Specs

  1. Moves
=I don't really see how ignoring the target's ability is at all relevant for Photon Geyser on Choice Specs. I can think of no relevant situation in which an ability can possibly be ignored by Choice Specs Photon Geyser that actually matters. Just say it's a strong, reliable STAB attack.

=This is a nitpick but Heat Wave also hits Celebi.

  1. Set Details
=Replace the alternate spread with 188 speed 252 spa 88 hp modest because honestly jolly scizor isn't that common and that's essentially the only thing you miss out on in that range in all of UU, the investment lets you outspeed adamant Breloom and timid Prima/jolly Bewear. Mention some KOes Modest helps to obtain, such as guaranteeing the 2hko on standard Alolan Muk with Earth Power from full, or 2HKOing 120 HP Scizor with Photon Geyser.

  1. Usage Tips
=When talking about prediction, appropriately timing the usage of signal beam is definitely crucial to mention.

=Eh, specro doesn't care much about burn. The main thing it does in a game is just spam photon until things die. Burn doesn't really stop that goal fast enough for it to matter much.

  1. Team Options
=Include spikes support. Specro enjoys Spikes to help chip down things like Swampert and Sylveon into OHKO/2HKO range respectively.

=Uh, specs necro doesn't "boost up". It's fine to say that it's capable of luring Steel-types with Heat Wave/Earth Power, but like c'mon at least make it not obvious that you copypasted this from when you were writing the SD set.

  • Other Options
=Don't say that SD is "extremely effective". It's in OO for a reason. It struggles pretty hard versus offensive archetypes and needs to worry about burns/toxic vs bulkier ones. Just remove "extremely" and state that it can be effective.

=Mention Earthquake on the offensive rocks set here.

  • C&C
=You're gonna want to make a point for faster Pokemon, as its speed is pretty detrimental to it at times and a LOT of mons are capable of outspeeding and rking/heavily chunking necro.

Necrozma @ Metronome / Iapapa Berry
Timid Nature
Ability: Prism Armor
EVs: 72 HP / 252 SpA / 184 Spe
- Stealth Rock
- Photon Geyser
- Heat Wave
- Signal Beam / Earthquake

I think this is what SR Necrozma should be using. Speed is for Breloom. Metronome is a cool item to beat out some defoggers like Mega Altaria, SpDef Gliscor, and Mantine, the latter two of which not even Mind Plate can beat. It also prevents Latias from being able to Roost up on repeated Signal Beams. Signal Beam also hits Starmie, which means it can't spin on you for free, and Hydreigon. Earthquake 2HKOes 0HP Alolan Muk (the analysis spread) even with a Timid nature, and also 3HKOes Empoleon. I get why Knock Off might be useful, but I think both these moves would come in handy more frequently (Signal Beam hits 3 potential removers hard, EQ hits two common switchins to Necrozma). Iapapa is also fine. There should be a line about Metronome in Usage Tips, basically spam Photon Geyser first to force the remover out, then set up SR.

In Team Options, first say that Necrozma should be used as the rocker on offensive teams that appreciate its strong offensive presence. Get rid of the Heal Bell and Pursuit lines, since Necrozma needs neither to do its job properly. Add some more Pokemon that can be used in bulky offense in general, and that section will be good.

For Specs, I don't like the part about avoiding status because all things considered, it's one of the Pokemon that cares the least about taking a burn or a Toxic. Burn hardly makes a difference to it and it should still be able to fire off a decent number of hits while poisoned. On that note, also take Status out of Checks and Counters. Also I think Psyshock could use a mention in Moves (maybe not a slash though cause it seems hard to give up any move in particular), because it can 2HKO Blissey even without hazards up. Remove the last bullet in Team Options or change it so that it's accurate ("boost up").

Instead of Ghost types, say strong special attackers in Checks and Counters. Stuff like Specs Hydreigon, Z Moltres, and Z Latias can just OHKO Necrozma and prevent it from getting up rocks.

Do what Cake said too except the EV spread stuff (either use max speed timid, max speed modest, or the spread I pasted above).

Ok, now for the intro:

The first few bullets need to be changed entirely. The first one is very generic and doesn't really tell us anything, and oversells necrozma if anything. We also don't need a Pokedex definition of what Photon Geyser does, especially since neither of its unique traits matter in the context of UU. You'd be better off starting it out with "Necrozma's unique traits allow it to fit well on bulky offensive teams. Its high offensive stats, decent bulk, and access to Stealth Rock make it a good offensive entry hazard setter. A strong STAB move in Photon Geyser hits most neutral targets hard, and with coverage moves such as Heat Wave, Signal Beam, and Earthquake, it can punish the Dark and Steel types that resist its STAB move."

Then you can leave the bullet points about its typing, but the next bullet point can be removed since it's too lengthy and isn't even true (both the sets only have one or two moves outside of their main 4). Then you can finish off by saying its speed leaves a lot to be desired, but it's still faster than a large portion of the offensive metagame.

First set looks fine, dodmen covered most of the issues.

In specs, mention Dark Pulse in moves as an option for the 4th slot for the specs set, as it allows you to hit ghosts (chandy, gengar) and psychics (Latias, Celebi) without having to pick between Earth Power, Heat Wave, and Signal Beam.

"An alternate spread with 232 Speed EVs and a Modest Nature allow Necrozma to outspeed maximum speed Scizor while hitting harder, and the remaining 24 EVs are put into HP for added bulk." - I don't think Jolly Scizor should be the benchmark here, I think it's better at 240, so EVs: 72 HP / 252 SpA / 184 Spe Modest Nature

Mention u-turn and voltswitch options, both offensive and defensive pivots, that allow you to bring in Necro and smack something. Hydreigon, Scizor, Gliscor, Manectric, Crobat, etc almost anything with U-turn or Volt Switch works.

In C&C, strong physical attackers threaten Necro just as much as SpAers do. In general, any natural wallbreaker can destroy Necro because of its middling speed.

do this, 2/3

When you're #free, I have check 3/3!

Overview
Remove all mentions of Azumarill in the analysis.

Mention both its Stealth Rock and Choice Specs set in the first line so the reader understands Necrozma's main roles immediately.

When listing its coverage change Earthquake to "Ground-type option", as it runs both Earthquake and Earth Power on different sets.

Mention Prism Armor specifically helping with Pursuit.

Reorder the overview so that this line: "Necrozma's mono-Psychic typing is not beneficial to it, as it leaves it offensively lacking a secondary STAB attack while being weak to many common Pokemon like Hydreigon, Mega Beedrill, and Scizor", goes after you talk about its coverage. This way the positive parts of Necrozma and the negative parts are seperated instead of jumbled together. Change Mega Beedrill to something more relevant like Gengar in that line. Mention Togekiss in Base 80s that can threaten it.

Stealth Rock Moves
Change Earth Power to Earthquake.

Stealth Rock Set Details
Mention the specific number 184 EVs with timid nature. Specify to slower variants of Gliscor (you can add Tentacruel here as well), mention Volcanion Breloom and Metagross as base 70s you are outspeeding. Mention that Metronome limits Necrozma's longevity.

Stealth Rock Team Options
Mention Cleric Support from the likes of Togekiss and Sylveon. Make your Bulky Offense mentions less generic, perhaps focus on pivots and tanks as two seperate entitities.

Choice Specs Set Details
Again mention that Prism Armor lets it survive Pursuits more easily, this is even more important on the Specs set that will often be hitting and running. Your bulkier EV spread goes over the EV limit, I would suggest the 72 HP / 252 SpA / 184 Spe spread with a Modest Nature as an alternative.

Choice Specs Usage Tips
In the following line, add the bolded changes:
Necrozma should be used with good prediction, as being able to Heat Wave a Scizor, Signal Beam Latias or Hydreigon, or Earth Power an Alolan Muk, all of whom could switch into predicted Photon Geyser, can turn the tide of a game in your favor. Necrozma needs to be cautious of Photon Geyser's low PP, as Pressure Users such as Suicune, Moltres, or Kyurem can deplete it quite quickly.
Mention that Specs Necrozma is often a very good lead with its high natural bulk / power, forcing the opponent to guess which move its using, which set it is, and having Prism Armor to avoid being fully trapped.

Other Options

Mention that the Swords Dance set is easily revenge killed and prone to being crippled by status. Highlight the unreliability of the Weakness Policy set, rather than that it has to be hit by a super effective move (this is self explanatory.)

Checks and Counters
Mention Hydreigon, Krookodile, and Houndoom as Dark-types that all outspeed it and hit hard with their STABs.

Mention Mandibuzz in bulky Special walls, also note its ability to use Knock Off to cripple Necrozma.

Change title of Faster Pokemon to Faster Threats. Mention Gengar, Mega Beedrill, and Chandelure as Offensive revenge killers, Azelf / Krookodile / Mandibuzz as Taunt mentions. If you have anymore you can think of they can be added here as well.

Nice work, let's get this up to GP.

Moves
========

Stealth Rock is the primary appeal of this set, allowing Necrozma to function as an effective offensive hazard setter with a comfortable balance of longevity and offensive presence. Photon Geyser is a consistent, and (RC, replace with 'and') powerful Psychic-type attack that has no drawbacks to it. Heat Wave allows Necrozma to hit Steel-types such as Scizor, Magneton, and Klefkei Klefki, which otherwise resist Necrozma's main STAB attack in Photon Geyser. Signal Beam can be run to threaten Dark-types such as Mega Sharpedo and Hydreigon, although is often found to be quite weak. Earthquake can be used to 2HKO Alolan Muk without HP investment, even with a Timid nature. Dark Pulse is also an option that hits both Ghost-types like Chandelure and Gengar and Psychic-types like Celebi and Latias without having to choose between Signal Beam, Heat Wave, or Earthquake.

Set Details
========

Maximum Special Attack investment lets Necrozma hit as hard as possible, and it has enough speed to outpace base 70s like Volcanion and Metagross. With 184 Speed EVs in combination with a Timid nature, Necrozma is also able to outspeed Pokemon like Scizor, (RC) and Volcanion, (RC) and slower variants of Gliscor. Prism Armor is Necrozma's only ability and reduces damage taken from super-effective attacks. Metronome allows Necrozma to beat many hazard removers, such as Specially Defensive Gliscor, (RC) Mantine, (RC) and Mega Altaria, while also preventing Latias to Roost up on multiple Signal Beams. However, Metronome will somewhat limit Necrozma's longevity. An Iapapa Berry restores 50% of Necrozma's HP in a pinch, helping it to stay alive longer and perform its duties more consistently. Life Orb can be run to increase Necrozma's power, but it wears Necrozma down significantly and also prevents it from coming onto the field as often.

Usage Tips
========

Getting Stealth Rock up as soon as possible is useful as since (repeated use of 'as' is suboptimal) it punishes the opponent's switches, (AC) and Necrozma is able to force a lot of switches because of its threatening movepool. Metronome should be used to spam Photon Geyser to and force hazard removers out of play before setting up Stealth Rock, as well as putting pressure on them to prevent them from Defogging Defog. When using the Iapapa Berry, be conscious of when Necrozma is low on HP to avoid it from being knocked out before its berry activates. Carefully using residual damage from weather, status, and entry hazards to your advantage can help it Necrozma activate its berry in a controlled manner if it cannot reliably stay in on an opponent's attack. Photon Geyser is powerful and should be used most of the time, ; (RC, add a semicolon) however, keep in mind that it has relatively low PP. Status, particularly Toxic, can cripple Necrozma and put it on a timer.

Team Options
========

Necrozma should be used as a Stealth Rock setter on offensive teams that appreciate its strong offensive presence. Wallbreakers that threaten Dark- (RH) and Steel-types, such as Heracross, Scizor, and Terrakion, appreciate the Stealth Rock support that Necrozma offers since it allows them to secure some KOs they would miss out on without the chip damage. Pokemon that work well on Bulky Offense bulky offense (capitalization is not necessary here) with Necrozma, such as pivots like Scizor and tanks like Mega Aggron, can be effective partners as well. Any natural wallbreaker can beat Necrozma because of its very average speed.

[OVERVIEW]
Necrozma's unique traits as both a Stealth Rocker Rock setter and a wallbreaker allow it to fit well on bulky offensive teams. Its high offensive stats, decent bulk, and access to Stealth Rock make it a good offensive entry hazard setter. Necrozma's ability, Prism Armor, allows it to mitigate some of the damage from super-effective attacks, (AC) which contributes contributing to Necrozma's overall longevity throughout the match. (AP) Prism Armor also and lowers damage from Pursuit, (AC) allowing it Necrozma to switch more freely. (I split up the previous sentence into two separate sentences to prevent it from becoming a run-on) A Necrozma's strong STAB move in Photon Geyser hits most neutral targets hard, and with coverage moves such as Heat Wave, Signal Beam, and a Ground-type options, it can punish the Dark Dark-, Psychic-, and Steel- (AH) types that are immune to or resist its STAB move. Necrozma's mono-Psychic typing is not beneficial to for it, (AC) as it leaves it offensively lacking lacks a secondary STAB attack while also being weak to many common Pokemon like Hydreigon, Gengar, and Scizor. Necrozma also has a very mediocre speed Speed stat that, (AC) which prevents it from flourishing in the metagame (it's better not to abbreviate 'metagame' to establish clarity), as it is unable to outspeed max-invested maximally invested base 80s and above, such as Mega Altaria, Togekiss, and Chandelure.

Stealth Rock is the primary appeal of this set, allowing Necrozma to function as an effective offensive entry hazard setter with a comfortable balance of longevity and offensive presence. Photon Geyser is a consistent, and (RC, replace with 'and') powerful Psychic-type attack that has no drawback to it drawbacks. Heat Wave allows Necrozma to hit Steel-types such as Scizor, Magneton, and Klefkei Klefki, (RC) which otherwise that resist Necrozma's main STAB attack in Photon Geyser. (Quote from kink's qc check #2, which you apparently implemented incorrectly: In specs, mention Dark Pulse in moves as an option for the 4th slot for the specs set, as it allows you to hit ghosts (chandy, gengar) and psychics (Latias, Celebi) without having to pick between Earth Power, Heat Wave, and Signal Beam.)

Set Details
========

Maximum Special Attack investment lets Necrozma hit as hard as possible, and it has enough speed Speed to outpace base 70s like Volcanion and Metagross. (Why isn't this in the sentence about the speed? Fix this. I'm too lazy.) With Speed EVs in combination with a Timid nature, Necrozma is also able to outspeed Pokemon like Scizor, (RC) and Volcanion, (RC) and slower variants of Gliscor. Prism Armor is Necrozma's only ability and reduces damage taken from super-effective super effective attacks. Metronome allows Necrozma to beat many entry hazard removers, such as Specially Defensive Gliscor, (RC) Mantine, (RC) and Mega Altaria, while also preventing Latias to Roost up on multiple signal beams from repeatedly using Roost against Signal Beam. However, Metronome will somewhat limit Necrozma's longevity. An Iapapa Berry restores 50% of Necrozma's HP in a pinch, helping it stay alive longer and perform its duties more consistently. Life Orb can be run to increase Necrozma's power, but it wears Necrozma down significantly and also prevents it from coming onto the field as often.

Usage Tips
========

Getting Necrozma should get Stealth Rock up as soon as possible is useful as it punishes to punish the opponent's switches and many switches that Necrozma is able to force a lot of switches because of due to its threatening movepool. Metronome If using Metronome, Necrozma should be used to spam Photon Geyser to force entry hazard removers out of play before setting up Stealth Rock, (RC) as well as putting and put pressure on them to prevent them from Defogging. (Defogging is accepted, Accel) When using the Iapapa Berry, be conscious of when Necrozma is low on HP to avoid prevent it from being knocked out before its berry Berry activates. Carefully using residual damage from weather, status, and entry hazards to your advantage can help it Necrozma activate its berry in a controlled manner if it cannot reliably stay in on an opponent's a foe's (opponent=/=opposing Pokemon) attack. Photon Geyser is powerful and should be used most of the time,; (RC, ASC) however, keep in mind that it has relatively low PP. Status conditions, particularly Toxic poison, can cripple Necrozma and put it on a timer.

Team Options
========

Necrozma should be used as a Stealth Rock setter on offensive teams that appreciate its strong offensive presence. Wallbreakers that threaten Dark- and Steel-types, such as Heracross, Scizor, and Terrakion, appreciate the Stealth Rock support that Necrozma offers, (AC) since it allows them to secure some KOs they would miss out on without the chip damage. Pokemon that work well on Bulky Offense bulky offense (capitalization is not necessary here) with Necrozma, such as pivots like Scizor and tanks like Mega Aggron, can be effective partners as well. Necrozma also appreciates cleric support from Pokemon like Togekiss and Sylveon. Other Pokemon that threaten Dark-types, such as Mega Altaria and Cobalion, also synergize well with Necrozma.

Photon Geyser is a powerful and reliable STAB-boosted STAB attack. Earth Power allows Necrozma to chunk Steel-types that resist Photon Geyser, (RC) as well as hitting and lets it hit Alolan Muk super-effectively super effectively. Heat Wave is also a good coverage move for Steel-types that take Earth Power neutrally, particularly Scizor and Forretress, as well as hitting, (AC) and it also hits Celebi. Signal Beam allows Necrozma to damage Dark and Psychic types which resist Necrozma's STAB attack Dark- and Psychic-types, such as Mega Absol, Mega Sharpedo, Krookodile, Celebi, and Latias, (RC) and Krookodile. Power Gem can be run to hit things Pokemon like Mandibuzz and Moltres for more damage. Psyshock is an option over Photon Geyser that allows Necrozma to 2HKO Blissey. (The original is fine here, Accel) Dark Pulse is an alternative option for the fourth moveslot that hits both Ghost-types like Chandelure and Gengar and Psychic-types like Celebi and Latias without having to choose between Signal Beam, Heat Wave, and Earth Power.

Prism Armor is Necrozma's ability and helps it to survive for longer by sponging some of the damage from super-effective super effective attacks, including that of Pursuit. Choice Specs boosts Necrozma's Special Attack immensely, allowing it to hit hard with its STAB attack and good coverage. Maximum Special Attack and Speed investment and a Timid Nature allows allow Necrozma to hit as hard and fast as possible. A more defensive spread of 72 HP / 252 SpA / 184 Spe Spe with a Modest nature can be used for additional longevity.

Necrozma can be used as an early game early-game wallbreaker with its powerful no-drawbacks STAB attack in Photon Geyser, (AC) as it is able to break down teams that lack a Psychic resist sturdy Psychic-resistant or Psychic-immune Pokemon. Necrozma should be used with good prediction, as being able to Heat Wave a Scizor, Signal Beam Latias or Hydreigon, or Earth Power an Alolan Muk, all of whom could switch into predicted Photon Geyser, use the proper coverage moves against common switch-ins to Photon Geyser, such as Scizor, Latias, Hydreigon, and Alolan Muk, can turn the tide of a game in your favor. Necrozma often can make be a good lead due to its sheer power and, (AC) the unpredictability of its set, (AC) and having Prism Armor to downplay the potential of getting Pursuit trapped its ability to downplay Pursuit trapping thanks to Prism Armor. Necrozma needs to be cautious of Photon Geyser's low PP, as Pokemon such as Suicune, Moltres, or and Kyurem can deplete it quite quickly.

Pokemon that setup set up entry hazards, such as Gliscor, Swampert, (RC) and Cobalion, are able to chip foes on switch in on the switch and ease Necrozma's wallbreaking job. Necrozma enjoys Spikes to help chip down things Pokemon like Swampert and Sylveon into OHKO / and 2HKO range, respectively, so Spikes setters such as Klefki can be effective teammates. Fairy- and Fighting-type Pokemon, (AC, completes the part of the sentence up until the comma after Cobalion) such as Mega Altaria, Primarina, Infernape, Terrakion, and Cobalion, are able to check Dark-types that generally threaten Necrozma. Dark- and Ghost-type teammates like Alolan Muk, Krookodile, Hydreigon, and Gengar can remove opposing Ghost- and Psychic-types for Necrozma, which it appreciates greatly. The former two can Pursuit trap many of those Pokemon as well. Necrozma also appreciates both offensive and defensive pivots, such as Scizor, Infernape, and Mega Manectric, that which allow Necrozma to get in safely and hit something hard. (Worth noting that unless you count Scizor, all the listed pivots are offensive; if you mean to have Scizor as the defensive pivot, make it last in the list. If meaning to have it as an offensive pivot, include an example of a defensive pivot at the end.)

Any natural wallbreaker Most wallbreakers can beat Necrozma because of its very average speed Speed.

**Bulky Special Walls**: Bulky Special walls like Blissey and Empoleon take little damage from Necrozma's attacks and are able to threaten it back in return with Toxic, though Empoleon has no reliable recovery and takes a chunk from Earth Power and Earthquake.
