SS OU [Need Help] Bulky Offense Team

:smogduck: Hi all, i'm new to competitive, and i've managed to build a team that looks pretty decent, but gets beat often. Could you guys give me some tips / changes?

Moltres-Galar @ Chesto Berry
Ability: Berserk
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpA / 8 SpD
Calm Nature
- Rest
- Nasty Plot
- Fiery Wrath
- Hurricane

So, I wanted to build this team around Moltres-G. In battle, just get it up against a ghost type, opponent switches, nasty plot, rest, then fiery wrath them out. Hurricane is for hard matchups when I need more power.

Melmetal @ Choice Band
Ability: Iron Fist
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Double Iron Bash
- Darkest Lariat
- Ice Punch
- Thunder Punch

I've seen Melmetal be a underrated threat. Ice Punch is for the usual Melmetal counters,Landorus-T, ect. Thunder punch is to have coverage of more Pokemon like pelipper.

Zapdos @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Static
EVs: 252 HP / 52 Def / 200 SpA / 4 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Discharge
- Heat Wave
- Roost
- Defog

Zapdos. Your standard defog set. Also here for rillaboom / zeraora.

Tapu Bulu @ Assault Vest
Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Horn Leech
- Stone Edge
- Close Combat
- Megahorn

Bulu is here for swampert. Also a great switch-in to any other counters (because of assault vest) of any other pokemon on the team, except it's weaknesses. Great ferrothorn counter.

Slowking @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 220 Def / 36 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Teleport
- Scald
- Slack Off
- Thunder Wave

Great for gaining momentum. Scalding and burning physical pokemon is great too. T-Wave is to cripple more, i'm thinking about toxic instead though.

Weavile @ Choice Band
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Triple Axel
- Ice Shard
- Knock Off
- Low Kick

Standard weavile. Not really much to say here, except it helps a lot with STAB and being a cleaner. Open to suggestions to change it.

If you could give me tips to change this it would be much appreciated. Moltres-G I wanted to build around, so open to movesets on that but not replacing it. Here's the paste if you wanna see it all in one go (or copy it lol)

^^ This shows Goltres sweeping potential to those who don't have a counter

Hello Cangey and welcome to Smogon! Here are some of my thoughts on this team:

1. RestTalk Molters-G just does not work.
:ss/moltres-galar:

With a lot of testing, I can safely say that RestTalk Moltres-G does not do as well as its Double Dance set (tested on 1500-1600 on the ladder). This is why I formally suggest changing the Goltres :moltres-galar: set to a Double Dance Weakness Policy set. With this set, Moltres-Galar :moltres-galar: becomes a powerful sweeper that can destroy teams without a counter. There are a few Pokemon in the tier that resist both Goltres’ :moltres-galar: STAB attacks such as Klefki :klefki:, Bisharp :bisharp:, and Diancie :diancie:.

2. Goltres fits very well on dual screens / veil offense.
:ss/tapu koko: > :ss/zapdos:
Since Goltres :moltres-galar: adopted the Dual Dance Weakness Policy set, hyper offense is the way to go. Goltres :moltres-galar: needs screens to be able to tank super-effective hits and make use of its Weakness Policy. Tapu Koko :tapu koko: is THE current #1 go-to screen setter because of its speed, reliability, and access to U-turn. It also checks Hawlucha :hawlucha:, who can easily come in and sweep your team.

3. Speaking of Hawlucha...
:ss/hawlucha: > :ss/tapu bulu:
Hawlucha :hawlucha:, like Tapu Koko :tapu koko:, is always a go-to for hyper offense. SD 3 Attacks + Unburden is a huge threat to unprepared teams (although most teams and players in higher ladder have a Hawlucha :hawlucha: counter, it is still a good sweeper/late game cleaner nonetheless).

4. HO GOAT Azumarill
:ss/azumarill: > :ss/slowking:

quick side note: dont run phys def slowking :slowking:, if you want to run phys def, run slowbro :slowbro: instead
Slowking :slowking: does not fit on hyper offense. Switch it to Azumarill :azumarill:, who fits very well on HO due to having Belly Drum, and to assist the problem with Heatran :heatran:.

Minor changes:
5. Weavile’s and Melmetal’s set
:ss/melmetal: and :ss/weavile:
Minor change here, switch Weavile’s :weavile: set into an SD + 3 Attacks sweeper; dual screens enhance its bulk.
Also another minor change, give Melmetal :melmetal: a more defensive set so it can check both special and physical attackers who threaten the team like CM Clefable :clefable:.

I apologize if hyper offense isn’t your play style, but in my opinion, its the best way to use Moltres-Galar :moltres-galar:.
Moltres-Galar @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Berserk
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Nasty Plot
- Fiery Wrath
- Hurricane
- Agility

Tapu Koko @ Light Clay
Ability: Electric Surge
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpA / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Thunderbolt / Taunt
- Light Screen
- Reflect
- U-turn

Hawlucha @ Electric Seed
Ability: Unburden
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Acrobatics
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge

Azumarill @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Belly Drum
- Aqua Jet
- Play Rough
- Knock Off

Melmetal @ Assault Vest
Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 128 HP / 116 Atk / 252 SpD / 12 Spe
Careful Nature
- Double Iron Bash
- Earthquake
- Ice Punch
- Thunder Punch

Weavile @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Triple Axel / Icicle Crash
- Knock Off
- Ice Shard
Hope this helped and enjoy laddering! :blobwizard:

I agree hyper offense is best for goltres but you just changed this teams whole playstyle lol. I get it makes sense for goltres but IMO if he’s trying to build a bulky offense you should keep it a bulky offense. Unless he doesn’t care. Then I’ll just look dumb

Goltres really is a better mon in HO rather then BO but Melmetal just feels like it shouldnt be there. Melmetal doesnt belong in HO because its slow speed sets it back alot. I recommend adding volcarona instead with the classic quiverdance set. Volcarona is an amazing wincon when the enemy has no checks amd overall fitd in better in HO then melmetal does.

For a non-HO approach I have a few suggestions that would allow you to keep the Goltres, but a lot of changes will be needed to make it succeed:

:tapu_bulu: -> :tangrowth:
While AV Bulu may look appealing, it is a poor option for checking the stuff you want Grass-types to in this meta, because Horn Leech isn't a consistent form of recovery, with just about every team having something that easily sponges Grass-moves. It's pretty much deadweight against any team with Skarmory or Corviknight, in particular. Instead, use:

:ss/tangrowth:
Tangrowth @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Giga Drain
- Focus Blast
- Knock Off
- Sleep Powder

Tangrowth is a much better option for your set, because it has much better longevity with Regenerator, and it can make progress more consistently with Sleep Powder, Rocky Helmet (particularly good for punishing Pert's Flip Turns), and Knock Off. It also checks Kartana and Melmetal, unlike Tapu Bulu. While you lose some special bulk, the physical bulk tends to be better as just about everything Grass-types can check is a physical attacker in this meta.

:slowking:

Change the set to:

:ss/slowking:
Slowking @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
IVs: 0 Spe
Sassy Nature
- Scald
- Future Sight
- Slack Off
- Teleport

With Future Sight and Teleport, Melmetal and Weavile can get both a safe switch into the battlefield, and they have almost no counters when factoring in Future Sight damage. This is Slowking's main niche in OU. Also, as the above person said, use a specially defensive spread, so you can better check Heatran and Tapu Lele.

:melmetal:
Use Earthquake over Darkest Lariat. The coverage on Steel-types is much better than hitting... not sure what exactly. Also, change the spread to 244 SpD / 252 Atk / 12 Spe. This outruns Toxapex, and gives more overall bulk, as Melmetal's HP and Defense are so massive EVs change nothing.

This does seem more well thought out, but as the person said below I would rather do bulky offense, however I might try this too! Thanks

EDIT: This works better then my normal team!
