Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
Im very new to the whole competitive Pokemon scene so you can assume I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to making a team. I was wondering if any of you could think up a team for me (The Pokemon, their natures, held items if needed, etc). Basically all I'm looking for is a team of offensive Pokemon but ones that aren't glass cannons (strong but easily taken down). I have no preference or any Pokemon that must be on my team. All I need are tanky Pokemon that can deal out big damage. Sorry if this is a daunting task, but I'd greatly appreciate your help!
I do understand that this isn't an RMT, but I could not find any other areas to post this where it would be more appropriate. And PLEASE note that I would like the Pokemon and everything about them to revolve around the official Pokemon competitive rules (the rules used during the championships). I have a picture of the team construction rules for Pokemon championships attached to this thread for reference.
Hi Unbound :)
if you would like a good place to start, mega kangaskhan is a great pokemon that imo is the epitome of bulk, speed and power in the current vgc metagame. it offers fantastic support in fake out, and can dish out massive damage with parental bond boosted returns/double-edges, so i think that it would fit your criteria. if youre looking for inspiration, search around nugget bridge's report archives for vgc teams that you like which were used by professional players to win tournaments etc, and try them out on showdown or build them on xy/oras :)
I think you might like the team amr97 used to come 3rd place at virginia regionals this year. he used a combination of mega kangaskhan and belly drum azumarill to put a lot of offensive pressure on opponents, and his team imo is one of the best examples of a team built with these 5 things in mind:
- bulk
- speed
- power
- support
- switching synergy
Draconid997 gave you some nice advice; this is not an RMT though, so I will lock this. You can check out the VGC subforum to learn more about the metagame.
