Need help improving my OU team

Hey, I’m new to making teams so I’m looking for advice on this one. It’s my 7th try on a team but I still can’t figure out what isn’t working.

Tapu Koko @ Light Clay
Ability: Electric Surge
EVs: 116 HP / 140 SpA / 252 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Reflect
- Light Screen
- Thunderbolt
- Dazzling Gleam

I use Tapu koko to set up for hawlucha with electric surge, light screen and reflect. I also use it for coverage against urshifu and other dark type sweepers. I gave it 116hp to make time to set up light screen and reflect.

Hawlucha @ Electric Seed
Ability: Unburden
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Acrobatics
- Drain Punch
- Swords Dance
- X-Scissor

Hawlucha is pretty simple, I gave it the electric seed for the defence boost and unburden for speed boost while playing a swords dance to sweep with acrobatics because of the double damage upon losing its item and drain punch for healing and to deal with Pokemon like bisharp and tyranitar.

Landorus-Therian (M) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 88 HP / 124 Atk / 72 Def / 60 SpD / 164 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- U-turn
- Knock Off
- Earthquake

Landorus is mainly here for utility such as stealth rock and knock off to deal with choice users. I also gave lando u turn to swap out after using intimidate. I spread the ivs to try give it an even amount of attack and bulkiness.

Slowbro @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpA
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Flamethrower
- Future Sight
- Slack Off
- Scald

I added slowbro to deal with walls by using future sight. Flamethrower was added to deal with ferrothorn and grass type counters. Slack off was added to stall for future sight and the 252hp and regenerator helps it stall with extra hp.

Gengar (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Cursed Body
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nasty Plot
- Shadow Ball
- Sludge Bomb
- Giga Drain

Gengar feels uncommon to use in ou but I added him because gengar turns out to be a great sweeper by playing nasty plot against defensive Pokémon which can’t counter it. Then managing to sweep with good coverage against most Pokémon due to the different moves and the speed gengar has.

Kartana @ Choice Band
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Brick Break
- Leaf Blade
- Psycho Cut
- Smart Strike

I added kartana to play against low hp walls for the added attack stat from beast boost. I gave kartana brick break to counter reflect and the rest of the moves were added for the extra coverage along with a choice band to buff attack.

Hi, welcome to Smogon! I am locking your RMT for the time being as the forum rules require that you provide at least three lines of descriptions for each Pokemon to explain their roles. Please read the rules carefully and look at Team Showcase to see the detail we require. PM me with updated descriptions, and I will be happy to unlock this.

Hello bud I like your team but I could give you some changes that will help it.

Tapu Koko @ Light Clay
Ability: Electric Surge
EVs: 116 HP / 140 SpA / 252 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Reflect
- Light Screen
- Thunderbolt
- Taunt

I suggest taunt on koko as you can stop Defog attempts after setting up screens. It’s optional but you can chose to run Uturn over thunderbolt to pivot in teammates. However if you want koko to have some offensive presence then it’s fine to keep thunderbolt.

Hawlucha @ Electric Seed
Ability: Unburden
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Acrobatics
- Close combat
- Swords Dance
- Stone edge

I opted for close combat over Drain punch as it is more consistent drain punch would be ok but hawlucha has low attacking power sometimes even at plus 2 it falls short of kos, this is why close combat is preferred. Stone edge alows you got hit all the birds such as zapdos bring lucha’ s main check.

Kartana @ Choice Band
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Sacred sword
- Leaf Blade
- Knock off
- Smart Strike

I chose sacred sword over brick break as it is much more useful and can cut through defense boost hitting steel types like heatran and magnezone. Lastly having knock is so useful in this meta and there isn’t really a reason to run psycho cut as you already have future sight on your team. You can bait in physically defensive walls with kart along side future sight. These are my suggestions best of luck my friend!

Thanks, I’ll make sure to add these!

Would using a life orb be a good idea for my Kartana because I’m noticing a lot of the time my kartana dies from being stuck to using sacred sword on a resistant Pokémon
Yes that’s cool but it gets worn down really fast. Band does indeed take prediction. Although not as strong on ho teams I sometimes use pads that would be ok too.
