National Dex NEED HELP - Lele + Zamazenta Offence (Peak: Almost 1600)

:tapu-lele: :zamazenta: :garchomp: :corviknight: :latios-mega: :bisharp:

Hello all! I've been laddering with this team for a decent while, but I can't seem to ever reach the 1600 ELO mark. SO I am requesting all of your help to help me ladder up. Thanks!

Teambuilding
So I started off with a Tapu Lele - Zamazenta - Weavile core. I stole this core from the National Dex Break This Core forum page. So I thought it must be good.

:tapu_lele: :zamazenta: :weavile:

Then I decided to get some bulky mons, so I got a Corviknight and a Toxapex, becayse they're good defensive pokemon.

:tapu_lele: :zamazenta: :weavile: :corviknight: :toxapex:

Then I added a flip turn Latios-Mega, because it a), covered most of my remaining weaknesses, and b), provided an offensive pivot.

:tapu_lele: :zamazenta: :weavile: :corviknight: :toxapex: :latios-mega:

After testing the team, I decided to ask the NatDex chatroom on Showdown for some advice on the team, as it was underperforming. One person (I forgot who) told me that I lacked a ground type and a stealth rocker. So I added Garchomp, as I saw that a rocker that could dish out good damage, as well as tank some hits that my other teammates can't, was a good fit on my team. They also said the Weavile didn't fit, so I replaced that with the chomp.

:tapu_lele: :zamazenta: :garchomp: :corviknight: :toxapex: :latios-mega:

After some more testing, I didn't like how the Toxapex was too passive, so I replaced it with a Bisharp. Why a Bisharp? Well a), I lacked priority, so sucker punch is nice, b), it has a few more useful resists, and c), it fit the psychic-fighting-dark core that the previous core had. So I ended up with this team.

The Team

:tapu-lele:
Tapu Lele @ Choice Specs
Ability: Psychic Surge
Tera Type: Psychic
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psychic
- Psyshock
- Moonblast
- Focus Blast

Here is one of the three mons that I wanted to build around. Even though most people prefer scarf lele (in fact that was the original set in the Break this core page), I chose specs for the raw power it provided, theatening to get the OHKO on many things, and the 2HKO on unsuspecting switch-ins. It can even bluff scarf to scare out the mons that it otherwise wouldn't enjoy staying in on, like :lopunny-mega: and :zamazenta:. With rocks from :garchomp:, it can even threaten to 2HKO some resists, like non - assault vest :archaludon:. This set is a pretty standard Lele set. Psychic and Moonblast for strong STABs, psyshock for the pesky mons like :clodsire:, :chansey: and :blissey:, and Focus Blast for the would-be switch-ins like :heatran: and :ferrothorn: (if it hits). Tera Psychic is for the extra power on Psychics.

:zamazenta:
Zamazenta @ Leftovers
Ability: Dauntless Shield
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Iron Defense
- Body Press
- Heavy Slam
- Substitute

The second of the three mons in the original core. This is my main physical attacker, dishing ridiculous damage with iron defense + body press. It 2HKOs some mons that it shouldn't with enough boosts, like :landorus_therian: and :volcarona:. It also has Heavy Slam, to punish fairy types. It straight up OHKOs :diance_mega: and can even threaten an OHKO on opposing :tapu_lele:s. Substitute was actually suggested by someone in the NatDex chatroom to replace Crunch, and it was the best change for this mon. With sub, it can safely evade pesky status moves like toxic and t-wave, be safe from annoying mons such as :slowking_galar: and defensive :zapdos:, and can turn some mons into set-up fodder, such as :ferrothorn:, :samurott_hisui:, and even physical :landorus_therian:. Tera Steel for the valuable resists and STAB on Heavy Slam.

:garchomp:
Garchomp @ Dragonium Z
Ability: Rough Skin
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Outrage
- Stealth Rock
- Swords Dance

:garchomp: was a mon that covered all the things that I wanted. Rocks. Electric immunity. Immediate power. This mon is quite the beast in the early game, sitting in the face of :landorus_therian:s and just swords dancing. Z-Outrage does insane damage on neutral mons, and +2 earthquakes can deal heavy damage on switch-ins, like :ferrothorn: and fairy types. Not much else here to say.

:corviknight:
Corviknight @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Pressure
Tera Type: Dragon
EVs: 248 HP / 184 Def / 76 SpD
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Roost
- Brave Bird
- Defog
- U-turn

:corviknight: does what it does best: switch in, tank a hit, defog, roost, and u-turn out. It is also a valuable ground immunity, so it walls the fellas like :great_tusk:, :clodsire:, :gliscor:, :garchomp:, and many others. Tera Dragon for the emergency fire/electric resist to safely pivot out, but only when it's really necessary.

:latios-mega:
Latios-Mega (M) @ Latiosite
Ability: Levitate
Tera Type: Dragon
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Luster Purge
- Aura Sphere
- Recover
- Draco Meteor

This originally was a set with aura sphere replaced with Flip Turn, to provide valuable pivoting. It was suggested by some person on the NatDex chatroom to replace to Aura Sphere, so I did so. :Latios-Mega: is a great mon, resisting several types that I didn't have any answers for, like electric and fire, as well as exerting offensive pressure. Draco for raw power, purge for a useful STAB option (though the 50% chance never really helps when its needed), sphere for coverage, and recover for recovery. Overall a really nice mon on this team.

:bisharp:
Bisharp @ Eviolite
Ability: Defiant
Tera Type: Dark
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Sucker Punch
- Iron Head
- Knock Off

:Bisharp: was the latest addition to the team, and it outperformed :toxapex: in every single way. Defiant punishes mons with intimidate (a.k.a :landorus_therian), and threatens with a strong knock off, and eviolite makes it unreasonably bulky. :Bisharp: absolutely crushes stall (I thought Lele was meant to do that), with no stall mon wanting to switch in on its nasty knock offs. It deals respectable damage to mons like :alomomola:, :blissey:/:chansey:, :clodsire:, :ferrothorn:, and many others. Sucker Punch for priority + strong STAB option, and Iron Head to deal with fairies and more STAB. Dark tera type for extra power. This is basically :kingambit: junior.

Threat List

:Iron_valiant:
You probably realise how weak this team is to :iron_valiant:. It switches in a really bad time and the game is over for me. The only mon who is neutral to both STABs of Val is :corviknight:, and even then it's unreliable. Thunderbolt deals massive damage, encore can screw corv up if it switched in on a roost, and destiny bond makes it so that I can't remove rocks anymore. This is one of the many reasons why I want help for this team.

:Pelipper: :barraskewda:

Rain goes brrr. :Barraskewda: outspeeds all my mons under rain. It deals nasty damage with band tera water liquidations under rain. Whenever I see the fish, I feel sad within.

Tera Ghost :ferrothorn: with body press
Straight up walls :zamazenta:. Non boosted :bisharp: can't OHKO with knock off, and falls to body press. Then my team is in shambles when I finally defeat it. One of the many reasons I had to forfeit same games.

So that's all. I hope you enjoyed this RMT, and feel free to give your suggestions! (In fact, I really want you guys to do it. I need an answer to Val!) Cheers!

Very solid. But if I am going national defense why not Kartana over zam for better coverage hits one sword dance and its over zam actually needs time to set up. in fact in ou gen 8 I played a very similar team to this

So - chomp + Lando SR defensive you do not need 2 dragons here and with no scale shot chomp is bad I would play dragonite over this
- zam + kartana
Kartana is a faster sweeper and is all around better plus that crit hit plus grass coverage is insane +1sd and you win this gives you an immunity to seed users lile horn and threaten it to switch because if it stays in you kartana sweep

Weavile is fine Def on SD Adamant nature so tripple axel guaranteed 2hko without SD on skarm and corviknight

Lele has no real use here other then taking dragon hits I would play deoxys speed or a mew taunt over this depending on if mew has roar + Roost there. I know gen 9 national is different

I would do deoxys speed
Spikes set with Terra steel and psycho boost or a fast taunt user and go spikes or cut corviknight use a rapid spin user and go skarm with spikes

Toxapex could also be used here as a Haze user with skarm and go sp defensive and have spikes plus Toxic Spikes

I do not see any use for bisharp and weavile on the same team

Latios can Stay (M) or go scarf

On my profile view my gen 8 team playing a similar team to this for a better reference and calcs I think that is what you are going for and will get more value national dex gen 9 is basically gen 8

Thanks for the advice! I'm definitely changing garchomp to Lando, as lando does everything chomp does but better.

Also if you go Lando and gholdengo may be an issue if allowed to use on national. Like I said I do not play national but glanced at your meta and it seems to be similar to gen 8

So basically if chomp has scale shot play that over outrage because the speed boost after plus one sword dance is respectable for a team like this plus he is faster than Lando and it actually bulkier
