Need help optimizing my “Balanced” team

Hello and thank you for stopping by. I realize this team can be considered “odd” but I see potential.

Rillaboom @ Choice Band
Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Grassy Glide
- Knock Off
- superpower
- U-turn
Okay so I opted not to go the normal adamant natured. This is so if we have to we can sponge some hits before we attacked. This does well countering Urshifu, Zeraora, Bisharp, Psychical drapults, exadrill, kartana, swampert, tyranitar. And that’s all I’ll list for now but as you can see rillaboom is really good with one on ones with a lot of ou’s premiere psychical attackers. Grassy glide is a given hits hard and helps the only thing I will say that having a impish natured hinders and that is with important priority speed ties but they are far and few in between. Knock off to cripple item reliant Pokémon, superpower for coverage and u turn to pivot

Tyranitar @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Payback
- Superpower
- Rock Slide
Mainly here to support rillaboom and to wall the rest of the psychical attackers. In addition to being a stealth rock setter I left sand stream solely to ensure weather based teams mainly rain don’t have there way with this team. Really good at taking care of rillaboom annoying fire, poison and flying counters. Payback seeing how tyranitar tends to be slower then majority of the meta. Superpower over earthquake to take care of heatran when grassy terrain is up. Rock slide is good stab.

Buzzwole @ Life Orb
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 HP / 8 Atk / 248 Def
Impish Nature
- Bulk Up
- Thunder Punch
- Drain Punch
- Ice Punch
This is one of my favorite moms wait for the right time to use bulk up and it can wall most every psychical attacker and take care mons that rillaboom and tyranitar has issue with most note worthy being Landorus T. Thunder punch for toxapexs that think they’ll be able to wall me.

Chandelure @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Will-O-Wisp
- Hex
- Flamethrower
- Calm Mind
I have to say this is one of my favorite sets after a calm mind hex start racking up ko even before a status. Will-o-wisp over toxic because it helps weaken attackers and sets up for hex quite nice after a calm mind. Flamethrower over heatwave for accuracy. This set I think is a lot of fun to use

Slowking @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 8 SpA / 248 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Future Sight
- Flamethrower
- Teleport
This set is pretty straight forward but I have opted for flamethrower over slack off because I mainly set up future sights and for things like ferrothorn Being the special wall of choice that works well with buzzwole and Chandelure.

Ill be honest after creating the rest of the team I had racked my brain trying to fill this spot so I went with an easily slappable mon to put on this team
Kyurem @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Ice Beam
- Freeze-Dry
- Earth Power
- Focus Blast
Pretty standard set
I don’t know how I feel about not having a steel or fairy Type on this team and while I think the rest of the team is okay I think this slot could be replaced by a mon better suited for this team
Thank you for reading i appreciate any help!

Hey there, I’m here to rate your team and propose some changes in order to improve it.

As there are a lot of demand for rates and making a complete and detailed answer takes too much time, I will try to do a short rate and won’t detail everything, so feel free to ask questions about what I said.

This team has some great ideas for a balance team. However, you made some weird and non-optimal choice. For instance, Tyranitar :tyranitar: is not a good Pokemon to use outside of Sand teams (and Sand teams aren’t really good anymore). Chandelure :chandelure: is also hard to make shine with Blacephalon :blacephalon: doing a better job in the tier, but may still have a niche due to its superior bulk. Your offensive core may also lack some power.

Major Changes

:tyranitar: -> :landorus-therian:: Tyranitar is slow and easy to worn down. It’s defensive typing is not that great and you really rather have a defensive Landorus-T :landorus-therian:. Having utility moves like Knock Off and U-turn makes it way more efficient. The spread include some SpD for things like Heatran :heatran:.

landorus-therian.gif

Landorus-Therian @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 120 Def / 136 SpD
Impish Nature
- Defog
- Earthquake
- U-turn
- Knock Off

:slowking: -> :tapu fini:: Slowking is hard to use in the current metagame. It’s a bulky Water type pressured by both Weavile :weavile: and Urshifu-R :urshifu-rapid-strike: and a special wall that can’t handle Dragapult :dragapult:. I think Tapu Fini :tapu fini: would be a better bulky Water type here. The set just below is a mixed between the Whirlpool set and the Scarf one, and the Speed investment aims to outspeed Weavile. You can also play a classic Scarf Tapu Fini here (with more Speed and Spa and with Hydro Pump). The reason why I think a Scarf set would fit here is because you still need some Speed Control even with Rillaboom :rillaboom: priority, and on the other hand being able to trap Toxapex :toxapex: is useful for Buzzwole :buzzwole: and Chandelure :chandelure:.

tapufini.gif

Tapu Fini @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Misty Surge
EVs: 252 HP / 52 Def / 204 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Whirlpool
- Moonblast
- Nature's Madness
- Trick

:kyurem: -> :blissey:: This change makes the team a bit more defensive, but I think you need a proper special wall here, and a solid answer to Dragapult :dragapult: as this Pokemon threaten most of the team. Tyranitar :tyranitar: was a short term answer, but I’m suggesting Blissey :blissey: here as it is way more consistent and can Teleport away to keep the momentum. Scarf Kyurem is not a hard hitter and the combination of Tapu Fini and Rillaboom should be enough for Speed Control purposes.

blissey.gif

Blissey (F) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Seismic Toss
- Soft-Boiled
- Stealth Rock / Thunder Wave
- Teleport

Minor Changes

:buzzwole:: I changed a bit the set, using the Smogon recommended set, because defensive Buzzwole can’t do crap without Roost, and you don’t won’t to use a Life Orb on a defensive set of this Pokemon because you will get wormed down very easily and thus left unable to check things like Kartana :kartana:.

buzzwole.gif

Buzzwole @ Rocky Helmet / Leftovers
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 HP / 144 Def / 112 Spe
Impish Nature
- Drain Punch
- Ice Punch
- Roost
- Leech Life / Thunder Punch / Toxic

:chandelure:: You could use a Specs Blacephalon :blacephalon: in this slot, but if you want to use Chandelure, you probably rather try something like this to make use of its better bulk. Leftovers could be a nice option but I feel like Heavy-Duty-Boots are too important as Landorus-T :landorus-therian: may have a hard time using Defog against some teams.
