Need Help Replacing Kangaskhan

Hi,

So this was my team before the banning of Kanghaskhanite and I am struggling to fill the void! Not because of his "overpoweredness" but due to his strength and normal typing.. My friends tell me to find a new Mega but none have tickled my fancy... I have been considering Snorlax and Exploud, but that is as far as I've gotten. Take a look and see if you can help...

On a side note; Let me know your thoughts on Zoroark / Chandelure. Chandelure 4x resists Bug and is immune to fighting meaning Zoroark is less likely to get super effective'd and will have a chance to Nasty Plot and get to work...

Galvantula @ Focus Sash
Ability: Compound Eyes
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef
Timid Nature
- Thunder
- Bug Buzz
- Sticky Web
- Volt Switch

Main goal is sticky web, however i have noted that coming back in with good speed and STAB Thunder w/ Compound Eyes has been helpful. My main sweeper Chandelure is slow and loves the support!

Excadrill @ Assault Vest
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP
Adamant Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Rock Slide
- Earthquake
- Shadow Claw

Spinner. I based the team originally on Chandelure (one of my fav pokes.) and he needs a spinner. This guy came strongly recommended, although he now lacks the resist to Ghost, his EQ/Rock slide combo helps a bunch. Shadow Claw is resisted by few and helps v Chandelure's ghost checks.

Hawlucha @ Power Herb
Ability: Unburden
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Adamant Nature
- Acrobatics
- Sky Attack
- Swords Dance
- High Jump Kick

Immune to ground and a powerhouse. This guy is gonna have arthritis from all the work he has been doing. His STAB attacks are only resisted by 11 pokes!! More importantly however, is that he is obviously immune to ground..

Kangaskhan @ Kangaskhanite
Ability: Scrappy
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Adamant Nature
- Return
- Fake Out
- Sucker Punch
- Power-up Punch

Normal type paired great with the ghost type of Chandelure for switches. He was obviously strong... He served as a set up sweeper through x2 Power-up Punch and checked ghost types with Sucker Punch and the odd Scrappy empowered Fake-Out or Return.

Ferrothorn @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 148 Def / 252 HP / 108 SDef
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spd
- Gyro Ball
- Power Whip
- Leech Seed
- Stealth Rock

Defensive wall. Tanks a punch, can set up rocks later on and leech seed. Even in 3v3 online battles, this guys beats Kangaskhan without having to use a move! He baits out those fire moves for Chandelure to switch in and get a flash fire. Also resists the water moves coming at Chandelure. Obviously in Gen V the dark and ghost resists helped.

Chandelure @ Choice Specs
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Modest Nature
- Fire Blast
- Memento
- Energy Ball
- Shadow Ball

My man! Memento is a concession to Tyranitar and helped set up one of the set up sweepers in Hawlucha or Kangaskhan. Fire Blast and Shadow Ball STAB, and can really do work when their counters are gone. Energy Ball for coverage on Water and Ground Types.

All comments appreciated!

Tbh I hate hawlucha, somewhat arbitrarily but still it's not a great pokemon, and the lack of flying gem hurts it a lot. It is the only fast pokemon on your team, but before the unburden boost it's not really a revenge killer, so I'd recommend changing it to scarf staraptor. The scarf set is very powerful, I like the band set more, but for your situation scarf might be better. Even with a scarf the thing hits like a truck. The most used physically defensive pokemon at the moment can't take 2 hits from even the scarf set:

252 Atk Reckless Staraptor Double-Edge vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Rotom-W: 153-181 (50.3 - 59.5%) -- 80.9% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Reckless Staraptor Double-Edge vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Rotom-W: 168-198 (55.2 - 65.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Compared to Hawlucha:

252+ Atk Hawlucha High Jump Kick vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Rotom-W: 127-150 (41.7 - 49.3%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

What about on something where fighting is super?

252 Atk Staraptor Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Tyranitar: 456-540 (112.8 - 133.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO Even without STAB starpator is wrecking stuff. And he's normal typed (tho I'm not sure why this is a good thing lol)

THis is more an optional change but I'd give it a go.

As for good megas, I've been loving mega mawile, but he doesn't fit your team at all. It's a bit less used, but mega medicham is really powerful and can destroy entire teams on his own. He gives you the priority that mega-kanga had, and hits just as hard as mega-kanga ever could (with a little less bulk though). I'd use this set, it's probably the most effective:

Medicham @ Medichamite
Ability: Pure Power
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Jolly Nature
- Bullet Punch
- High Jump Kick
- Psycho Cut
- Ice Punch

Finally, I'd really consider air balloon on excadrill, because your team is pretty weak to ground types, and he doesn't have the bulk to abuse assault vest imo.

So, in short: Kanga--->Medicham Assault Vest--->Air Balloon on Excadrill and optional Hawlucha--->Staraptor (use the scarf set here: http://www.smogon.com/bw/pokemon/staraptor)

Great advice! Going to train these bad boys up and try them out! Thanks for the help! Would love to hear any more advice though!

Wait this is an in-game team? Oh sorry, Staraptor might be hard to get, and might not be worth it. Have you tried playing on the sim pokemon showdown? It is very widely used and allows you to try teams before you breed and ev train pokemon in game, or just ditch playing in game all together.

Yeah I think my rating is just 1600 on Showdown. Its fine, I enjoy getting and training these guys. Its tough but fun :D
