As of recently I have jumped into the world of competitve pokemon. It is very fun, but at the same time very difficult for someone like me who is some what new to this. Everyone says to choose your favorite pokemon and build a team around it, but that is my problem. I don't know how to and what to build around my team. I am very knew and could use all the help I could get.

Sableye @ Lum Berry
Bold Nature/ Prankester
252 Hp/ 48 Def/ 208 Spdef
Moves
- Taunt
- Foul Play
- Will-o-wisp
- Recover

So basically Sableye is my favorite pokemon in the game and I'm trying to build a team around him. I selected the prankster ability so I have priority taunts, wisps, and recovers to start of the game and prevent set-ups and stall out so pokemon through burn dmg. and with foul play.

Excadrill @ Focus sash
Adamant Nature/ Mold Breaker
176 Hp/ 60 Atk/ 252 Sp. Def/ 20 Spe.
Moves
- Rapid Spin
- Iron Head
- Earthquake
- Rockslide

Excadrill is here for the rapid spin plays to remove an sort of hazard in the way along with the ability to take down possible fairy-type threat pokemon and other threats. Along with that Rockslide allows him to take out flying threats such as a Talonflame.

Weezing @ Black Sludge
Bold Nature/ Levitate
252 Hp/ 252 Def/ 4 Sp. Def
Moves
- Pain Split
- Thunderbolt
- Clear smog
- Will-o-wisp

So here I have Weezing which I use to stop any sweeps that have setup by either using dragon dance(s) or calm mind(s) etc. by using clear smog and I also used Weezing to avoid a possible Earthquake(s). due to his levitate ability. Pain split also allows Weezing to come back on top and take care of the threat.

Alakazam @ Life Orb
Timid Nature/ Magic Guard
4 Hp/ 252 Atk/ 252 Spe.
Moves
- Psychic
- Focus Blast
- Signal Beam
- Hidden Power Ice

Alakazam is my fast physical sweeper who is there to pick up the mess or attempt to sweep a couple pokemon. With signal beam he is able to take out other psychic threats along with dark types as well.

Talonflame @ Choice Band
Adamant Nature/ Gale wings
252 Atk/ 4 Def/ 252 Spe.
Moves
- Brave Bird
- Flare Blitz
- U-Turn
- Tailwind

Talonflame along with Alakazam is another fast sweeper and with priority on the Brave Bird hopeful a OHKO. Talonflame outspeeds most with priority bird-moves and makes it a problem for most fighting types like conkeldurr and lucario.

Last, but not least…

Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Modest Nature/ Levitate
232 Hp/ 56 Spa/ 220 Spe.
Moves
- Volt Switch
- Hydro Pump
- Will-o-Wisp
- Hidden Power Ice

Rotom is here to fill in my team's weakness to water attacks and also being able to take out flying type threats. He can withstand a decent amount of damage allowing him to take a shot back knockout out threats with volt switch or hydro pump.

I'm very new to this part of the game. Please help me. All comments good or bad will help. Thank You so much!

Hey there! Your team looks sort of interesting and Sabelye is annoying as ever (lol) from a structure standpoint I think you need more bulk in your descriptions three lines I believe is the minimum.

From a team standpoint I think that Alakazam is replacable, It's as frail as can be without a sash and the meta is full of priority attacks right now (eg: Talonflame, Mega Pinsir, Scizor, etc...) I suggest replacing it with a Mega Gardevoir, which has a lot better typing in my opinion, is able to go through subs with a scary powerful Pixilate Hyper Voice, and has better, actually passable bulk.

I recommend this set:

Gardevoir @ Gardevoirite
Ability: Trace
EVs: 24 Def / 232 SAtk / 252 Spd
IVs: 0 Atk
Timid Nature
- Hyper Voice
- Psyshock
- Taunt
- Hidden Power Ground/Focus Blast

Hyper Voice and Psyshock for ridiculously powerful stabs, Hidden power Ground for Heatran and Aegislash, Focus Blast for other steel types, you decide what's best for your team. Taunt is to neuter walls from getting off a toxic or t-wave and messing up your Rampage.
The Ev's garuntee that you live 2 Life Orb Psyshocks from Latios.
Trace lets you switch in on some things safely such as Heatran's Lave Plume or Thundurus-T's Thundrbolt.

Gardevoir is more of a pokemon to build your team around then Sabelye, as sabelye delivers support more than anything. For Sabelye I recommend Leftovers over Lum Berry and Knock off over Foul Play for more of a utility role, but that is just my personal preference. But for Excadrill a Life Orb or even Leftovers or an Air balloon is better because Exca is usually switching into a hazard which will break its sash before it gets a chance to utilise it

Weezing, while I have no problems with it on the team might be better replaced with Amoongus who is hella bulky and also completes a psuedo Venu/Rotom/Talon core with Amoongus as the poor mans Venu.

Amoongus @ Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SAtk
Timid Nature
- Giga Drain
- Clear Smog
- Foul Play
- Spore

Spore lets you garuntee a sleeping pokemon on the other side of the field, Foul play lets you smack any strong physical attackers hard, giga drain is great for recovery along with Regenerator and Clear Smog serves the same purpose as Weezing's. It may be low teir but it's extremely bulky and very underratted in my opinion.

I think these changes would definitley benefit your team greatly.

Thanks a lot man. I very new to this and I could use all the help I can get. This looks really good and I'm definitely going to fix my team based off your suggestions. Thanks again!

Hey there, nice team, but the excadrill set is really bad. It's there to rapid spin? Hazard destroy focus sash... So that's not really beneficial, I would recommend changing for an assault west this will help taking special hits, as well as granting the ability to invest more in deff or att, without hurting exca in any way. Good luck with the team :]
