SS OU Need Help With Team

Toxtricity @ Life Orb
Ability: Punk Rock
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Mild Nature
- Shift Gear
- Boomburst
- Overdrive
- Gunk Shot

Toxtricity's role is mainly to counter Fairy types with gunk shot. I gave it Boomburst and Overdrive as those are boosted by its Punck rock ability. I put Life Orb and shift gear on it mainly to boost Gunk Shot's power. Its not very fast but if it does live a hit it does an insane amount of damage. Its meant as a Mixed attacker that covers Fairy types like Clefable and the Tapus, Grass types like rillaboom and tapu bulu, and water types like urushifu and toxipex.

Landorus-Therian @ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Earthquake
- U-turn
- Stone Edge
- Sludge Wave

Landorus is my counter to ground and electric types. My team is pretty weak to ground and electric types so I can switch into him when there is a ground type or electric type on the field. Earthquake gives him a powerful STAB move, U-turn lets him swutch out if there are ice-types, sludge wave gives him coverage against fairy and grass types, and Stone Edge lets him hit flying and fire types for super effective damage. Landorus is my Physical attacker.

Dragapult @ Choice Specs
Ability: Infiltrator
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Draco Meteor
- U-turn
- Thunderbolt

Dragapult is my Special attacker. he can slightly counter other dragon types, and normal and fighting types. Shadow ball and Draco meteor give hime powerful STAB moves. U-turn give him a way to switch from ice and fairy types. Thunderbolt lets him hit water and flying types. The Choice specs makes him hit like a truck and balances out the special attack drop that draco meteor has. Infiltrator lets him hit through moves like protect and baneful bunker that are usualy run on mons like toxipex.

Blaziken @ Life Orb
Ability: Speed Boost
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Flare Blitz
- Close Combat
- Earthquake

Blaziken is my prominent physical attacker. speed boost makes it so after a turn or two he always hits first. earthquake gives him ways to take out his counters if he already has plus speed. Flare Blitz and Close Combat are extremley powerful STAB moves. Swords dance and life orb lets it raise its power to insane levels. It has a lot of counters but there are other mons that cover those weaknesses. Weaknesses like ground and fighting are covered by Landorus, and Fairy is covered by Toxtricty.

Grimmsnarl @ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Foul Play
- Play Rough
- Bulk Up
- Sucker Punch

Grimmsnarl is One of my two bulky mons. His Dark Fairy typing makes him completley wall Dragon and psychic types that otherwise wreck my team. He is meant to survive a hit or two, and hit back with a lot of power. Play rough and foul play give him STAB moves. Sucker punch is incase the opponent is going to outspeed and mone shot me. And if i can get a free bulk up then Grimmsnarl becomes unstoppable as he can one-shot alot of things and take hits very well.

Toxapex (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Recover
- Baneful Bunker
- Toxic Spikes
- Scald

Toxipex is my main tank. water and poison means it covers means it walls fairy and steel types, and can set up toxic spikes and stall with recover. The idea is to try and poison the opponent with toxic spikes or baneful bunker and then stall with recover. Scald gives it coverage against fire types and regenerator means that if i live an electric attack i can switch out to Landorus and when i come back i will have enough HP to recover.

I’ll give my input on some things.

:landorus-therian:

Sludge Wave —> Knock Off / Swords Dance

Landorus Therian doesn’t really need coverage for Fairy and Grass types, since other stuff on this team does that for him. Knock Off provides it a solid utility role as well as maintaining its offensive capabilities. You could also higher your damage with Swords Dance, which could work on a physically offensive set.

:grimmsnarl:

Play Rough —> Spirit Break
Foul Play or Sucker Punch —> Darkest Lariat

Grimmsnarl always wants Spirit Break in this meta, the utility it brings is wonderful, and it out-PPs and has better accuracy than Play Rough. Either Foul Play or Sucker Punch should also be replaced with Darkest Lariat. It allows it to ignore boosts, which may prove useful in beating targets that may have a defense boosting move (Bulk Up, Iron Defense, etc.).

:toxapex:

Toxic Spikes —> Toxic

If the main goal of using Toxapex is to spread poison, I’d just say use Toxic. It has guaranteed accuracy on Toxapex due to its Poison typing, and is less likely to be absorbed by many things.

Everything else seems fine, although you could Thunder Punch on Blaziken to better hit Pex, although that’s all up to you and not really too recommended.

:porygon-z: Have a good day :porygon-z:

Hey there, I’m here to give you my thoughts on the team as well as some advices to improve it.

Looking at the Pokemon you have chosen, it seems like you were trying to build some kind of offense, but you end up putting a Toxapex :toxapex: which in my opinion doesn’t fit in this kind of teams. This is because, when you are running something very offensive you will often have the opportunity to weaken your opponent’s defensive core with some of your threats in order to allow others to sweep. Having a very passive Pokemon like Toxapex will only make you lose momentum as when you switch-in your Toxapex, you will let your opponent freely in its weaken defensive Pokemon in order to heal them. Moreover, defensive Pokemon alone are not very efficient as they will only be able to check some of your opponent offensive threats while letting others freely switch-in and pressure you. That’s why defensive Pokemon are most of time played in a core of 3 or more to cover each other’s weakness. Thus, I don’t think you should use Toxapex in this kind of team even if it’s a good wall overall. The 5 others mons could put some works in an Hyper Offense kind of team as they all are able to setup and attempt to sweep, or in the case of Grimmsnarl :grimmsnarl: to ease the setup of its teammates by setting Screens. I don’t think a Bulk Up Grimmsnarl is really threatening in OU and you rather play him as a support option to make your others Pokemon more threatening with free setup turns. Toxtricity :toxtricity: and Blaziken :blaziken: are not common choice in OU but I think they have a pretty ok sweep potential with Screens, so I will try to propose something with these two.

So, as I said in this short intro, I will try to propose something a bit different, turned around a kind of Screen Offense team. I will go over each Pokemon and propose changes especially set changes for most of them.

Here we go with the changes:

Major changes:

:toxapex: -> :bisharp: : As I said previously, Toxapex doesn’t fit in this kind of team. Here, we want to have something that will abuse screens from Grimmsnarl (I’ll talk about him later) and thus Bisharp :bisharp: can be a good choice. It can setup with Swords Dance and threaten faster Pokemon with Sucker Punch. It also has Defiant to deters the use of Defog that could remove your screens. Another option could be Galarian Zapdos :zapdos-galar: which also have Defiant to prevent Defog and some setup option but Bisharp could be more helpful against opposing Dragapult that can ignore your screens thanks to Infiltrator. Here is a pretty standard Bisharp set you can use:

bisharp.gif

Bisharp @ Black Glasses
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Sucker Punch
- Knock Off
- Iron Head

:grimmsnarl: Grimmsnarl is a rather good Screens setter. Thus, I think that a Dual Screens set with the Light Clay would be more beneficial here. Taunt can help preventing opposing Defog or Substitute and a Spe Def investment can help dealing with some threats including Dragapult and makes it easier to come back later in the game to setup screens again. You can change the spread to something more offensive if you want. Anyway, here is the set:

Edit: According to HISELOISOVER9000 suggestion, you can consider playing Tapu Koko :tapu koko: or Regieleki :regieleki: is that slot as they both are good screens setter with the former being able to pivot thanks to U-Turn. Keep in my mind, however, that Dragapult may be much more of a threat without Grimmsnarl. Don't hesitate to try different option here to see, you can even try to use Ninetales Alola :ninetales-alola: which can setup Aurora Veil.

grimmsnarl.gif

Grimmsnarl (M) @ Light Clay
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Reflect
- Light Screen
- Taunt
- Spirit Break

:dragapult: Choice Specs Dragapult is a threat, but here as you have Screens support from Grimmsnarl, you rather use a setup variant with Dragon Dance and Weakness Policy as it can take almost any hits under Screens. Here is the set I’m thinking of:

dragapult.gif

Dragapult @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Dragon Darts
- Phantom Force
- Steel Wing / Fire Blast / Substitute

Minor changes:

:landorus-therian: You don’t have any Stealth Rock setter so I think you can use Landorus-T in that spot as Rocks are extremely helpful to pressure the opposing team more efficiently. Here, I suggest you to use a classic lead set with Swords Dance + Explosion and the Focus Sash to be sure to end up with Stealth Rock up as well as being able to beat some common Defoggers like Corviknight. Here is the set you could use:

landorus-therian.gif

Landorus-Therian (M) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Explosion

:toxtricity: Toxtricity can act as a setup sweeper with Shift Gear to boost its Speed. I don’t think you need Gunk Shot and Throat Spray could be an option to boost your next Boomburst/Overdrive. Drain Punch is a great option to beat and heal yourself on Blissey. Here is the set:

toxtricity.gif

Toxtricity @ Throat Spray
Ability: Punk Rock
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Mild Nature
- Shift Gear
- Boomburst
- Overdrive
- Drain Punch

:blaziken: Your set is fine and can use Screens to set up a Swords Danse a become an extremely hard to handle threat. I would just replace Earthquake for Thunder Punch as Slowbro :slowbro: / Slowking :slowking: are common and you want to be able to hit them super effectively.

blaziken.gif

Blaziken @ Life Orb
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Close Combat
- Flare Blitz
- Thunder Punch

And here we are for the changes, here is a past with all these changes, feel free to try them out:

Toxtricity @ Throat Spray
Ability: Punk Rock
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Mild Nature

Blaziken @ Life Orb

Dragapult @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature

- Steel Wing

Bisharp @ Black Glasses
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature

- Knock Off
- Iron Head

Hope this was helpful, have a nice day!

Definitely good advice but IMO grimmsnarl is pretty outclassed by tapu koko and regieleki when it comes to screens.

Definitely good advice but IMO grimmsnarl is pretty outclassed by tapu koko and regieleki when it comes to screens.

Yeah, you're right, I also think that overall the best Screens setter is Tapu koko because it has access to U-Turn and can setup the Electric Terrain for mates like Hawlucha. Regieleki is in my opinion a bit worse than Koko but can bring the support of Rapid Spin even if it lacks Taunt. Here, I proposed Grimmsnarl as I wanted to show how to change Grimm set to make it more viable and more useful to the team. Grimmsnarl has however something over Tapu Koko which is that it can come rather well on Dragapult and Pult is often an issue for this kind of Screens Offense because of Infiltrator and its Speed Tier.

I'll mention Koko and Regelieki as an option cause they are good picks in that slot. Thanks for the comment.
