Hi everyone! I'm attempting to create another team. This time I am trying to make one around Mega Charizard X for an X/Y in-game creation while following these rules - http://paxpokemonleague.net/rules/ I am looking for any and all help while following these guidelines and trying to create a team within the Pokemon X/Y cartridge. (Yes I know OR/AS is coming out soon but I can't wait and want to have a team for X/Y :p) Let me know how you guys think I can make it better while keeping in mind the notes above!

Charizard-Mega-X (M) @ Charizardite X
Ability: Tough Claws
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake
- Fire Fang

I typically start off with Charizard by setting up DD and attempting take out a poke or two if possible if not sweep. I have Earthquake for Heatran coverage, and STAB Dragon Claw and use Fire Fang due to the lack of Roost to recover recoil damage from Flare Blitz. I would love to use Fire Punch but that’s not available in-game :/ If I can’t set up and need to switch out then I need a Rapid Spinner to be able to come in and get rid of Stealth Rock if/when it is placed (which I will get to after the next pokemon). However, due to the Water/Fairy Weakness, Azumarill has perfect synergy with Charizard X and needed to talk about it next:

azumarill.png

Azumarill (F) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Huge Power
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 164 Atk / 92 Def
Adamant Nature
- Brick Break
- Play Rough
- Waterfall
- Aqua Jet

I wanted to make Azumarill tanky to be able to handle water attacks that threaten Charizard since it is really the star of the team. However that didn't work before this edit lol whomp...What I wanted to do was use Sap Sipper to eliminate the Grass weakness so that I only have to deal with the Poison and Electric weaknesses, but I can't lose out on Huge Power. I give Azumarill a little Defense and throw on an Assault Vest as well for some added tankyness. I am pretty happy with the three STAB moves (and Aqua Jet’s +1 priority) as well as Brick Break for some type coverage vs Normals like a Chansey since I have Bisharp for my Dark type moves and can’t use something like Knock Off in game (unless there is other type coverage moves that work well?). Brick Break takes out reflect/light screen as well which is nice. I give Azumarill an Adamant nature (typical) to have more offensive presence. The next Pokemon not only deals with Azumarill’s Electric/Poison Weakness but also helps Char X out as a rapid Spinner. Excadrill.

excadrill.png

Excadrill (M) @ Air Balloon
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Poison Jab

I have seen it used in so many teams and I am pretty happy to be able to incorporate it with this team. I mean look at this poke it’s a mouse with steel claws, it’s like a super improved Mogma from Skyward Sword lol Anyway, I want to give a shout out to OversizeHades05 for this Excadrill so I wanted to just use his explanation: “This is my speedy spinner, with the idea of countering Galvantula. EQ takes it down to sash, and a rapid spin will finish it off while getting rid of the sticky web, and assault vest lets me tank the Bug Buzz (assault vest removed for air balloon due to rules in link above). Rock Slide in combination with Earthquake give me the coverage of a steel type move, so I forego that STAB in order to grab Poison Jab. This lets me hit Grass types who otherwise would be an issue, and also lets me hit fairies albeit a little less hard than if I had a Steel STAB. Strange EVs, I know. But not only is he a spinner, he can be used a fast hard physical sweep too. Quick Moldbreaker Earthquakes are incredibly useful.” I really liked the way he used Excadrill so there really wasn’t much I wanted to change. I can't get Iron head on Excadrill in game (or stealth rock -_-) so I felt like keeping it this way was beneficial for my team. Now I need to help out Excadrill, he’s got the following weaknesses: Fight, Ground (after air balloon is popped), Fire and Water.

gardevoir.png

Gardevoir (F) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Trace
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Moonblast
- Psyshock
- Will-O-Wisp
- Thunderbolt

I was lacking Special Attack and needed that Fighting coverage for Excadrill so I went with ScarfGardevior. Moonblast being the primary Fairy move here and Psyshock for those with tough defenses to crack and Thunderbolt for some coverage for Flying/Water that part of my team is weak to. I like Will-O-Wisp to lower the attack of some physical ground types that can come in and harm my team pretty badly and it helps Gardevior to be able to do something in a spot which it may not be able to. I thought about maybe throwing in encore somewhere, possibly in place of Wisp or Bolt but I liked how this set helped my team. I kept modest to increase Thunderbolts power since it is my only flying check on the team, and I get the speed boost from Scarf anyway. I need some more poison/steel coverage as well as ghost coverage now and Bisharp just seems to fit perfectly.

bisharp.png

Bisharp (M) @ BlackGlasses
Ability: Defiant
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Iron Head
- Pursuit
- Swords Dance

Pursuit Bisharp is able to trap threats that might take out Gardevior. However, I really don’t want to use Life Orb, I am not a fan of losing health with attacks so I was thinking maybe to power up my many dark moves further, I would throw on some shades and rock the BlackGlasses. The BlackGlasses help especially if I can’t get a Swords Dance in time to make Pursuit more powerful. I keep piling on the steel types (one more to come) however I feel like I have the Steel weaknesses covered. Azumarill can take Ground, Fighting and Fire, Gardevior handles Fighting, Charizard can handle Fire, Excadrill with Air Balloon covers ground. Plus Bisharp’s main role is to switch in for Gardaveior for Ghost/Bug/Steel/Dark/Poison. (Which is a lot, but its coverage and I feel like there is good synergy between the two. I also thought about maybe giving Bisharp the Fighting move instead of Azumarill but I just didn't know what to take away from Bisharp. Finally I need a Stealth Rock setter.

ferro.jpg

Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Stealth Rock
- Gyro Ball
- Leech Seed
- Power Whip

Ferrothorn has enough defense to handle a burned users EQ’s (thanks to Gardevior) and regular EQ’s as well with beefed up defense, and can regain health with lefties and leech seed. I love Ferrothorn, I really do, and I have this poke for another team as well so it makes it pretty easy for me to throw into this team and gives me less time breeding in-game :p Obviously a huge fire weakness which Charizard/Azumarill can switch into easily. Azumaril can also take the fighting weakness while Gardevior can switch into as well which was discussed before.

Overall I feel pretty confident with this team. I feel like this team really works well together and has great synergy with one another. I'm happy I have both a stealth rock setter and a rapid spinner which is nice especially if I can’t get Charizard to Mega Evolve right off the bat. The only glaring weakness I can see is that I don’t have anything resistant to Ground type attacks and that I can't control the weather. The issue I’ve run into time and time again for in-game teams is that I am limited to stealth rocker’s/rapid spinners. I am really hoping they open things up a bit more for OR/AS because, for the teams I have made, I have felt restricted with my choices for both RS/SR. I understand I am not perfect (and that I am still somewhat new at this) so if there are other weaknesses you may see please feel free to help me out, I would LOVE the help. However, please keep in mind that I am trying to not only get this team in-game but follow the rules for the Pokemon PAX League (link above) and not use this team on Showdown or other online competitive battling sites. Thanks in advance! Oh and Happy Halloween! :toast:

I think this is an awesome team, you've got basically all of your weaknesses covered. A few things to mention just to think about though:

1. Once Ferrothorn is gone, nothing on your team wants to take an EQ. Especially Charizard (if Mega evolved), Excadrill, or Bisharp. If someone on the other team is packing a strong STAB Earthquake user, make sure to keep Ferrothorn around since you've got no Ground immunity once Charizard is Mega evolved.

2. Scarf Will-O-Wisp is definitely unexpected and interesting, which I like. But locking yourself into a move like that, you gotta be VERY sure you have a good switch into something else to get that Gardevoir out of there. With that said, Ferrothorn can take any physical attack from anything, ESPECIALLY if it's burned so that's probably your best bet. Also, if Will-O-Wisp misses (which happens often), Gardevoir is so physically frail I don't think it'll be living a physical attack that isn't resisted. (Obviously if your enemy is burned it's fine.)

To sum it up, Ferrothorn is incredibly important on your team. It'll be common for you to lead with it to get the rocks up, but make sure it doesn't go down to a Fire Blast or anything because, defensively, it's the most important pokemon you've got.

Thanks for the quick reply OversizeHades05! Really like your other team btw, it gave me a lot of good inspiration for this team :)! To your point, yeah I agree that is the one big flaw to this team, I do have a Charizard Y team I will be bringing with me to have more of a counter to ground types but if I can land wisp and get ferro in there I feel pretty good. It's just a big if lol but there are so many if's in Pokemon to begin with, as well as weaknesses so I'm glad to hear it looks like I just have that one (for now) haha always appreciate and enjoy more constructive critiques so thanks again for the input :)

Hey doubleb036 p solid team do you have here, i think dual fairy on one team is not bad idea but u could try a better mon there, i will give u a suggest and make ur team a Sand Balance.
Tyranitar @ Smooth Rock
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 248 HP / 176 Def / 8 SpA / 76 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Stone Edge
- Pursuit
- Fire Blast / Ice Beam

First replace Gardevoir with the Smooth Rock Ttar, because you replace ur choice scarf mon we need speed in your team so we have to put the best mate of ttar in wich case is exca. The move set is pretty standard Rocks on Ttar and Spikes on Ferro give u dual hazard support to help exca late game sweep maybe, Edge to hit TalonFlame, Mandy, etc, Pursuit to trap the Lati twins and last move is just coverage u decided.

Excadrill (M) @ Air Balloon/Life Orb
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Rapid Spin /Sword Dance
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Iron Head

We have Sand so we have to explode that Sand Rush exca it is the best way, and i put iron head> Poison Jab cuz it is Stab and hit fairies most harder .

And last i just suggest i few change in ur team .

Azumarill (F) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Huge Power
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 164 Atk / 92 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Superpower (hit more harder)
- Play Rough
- Waterfall
- Aqua Jet

Charizard-Mega-X (M) @ Charizardite X
Ability: Tough Claws
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake
- Flare Blitz / Fire Punch ( if u dont like recoil)

Bisharp (M) @ BlackGlasses
Ability: Defiant
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Iron Head
- Knock Off (Best move in the game)
- Swords Dance

We dont need pursuit cuz ttar have it :]

I hope i help u ! gl :]]

Hey DennisEG! Thank you for taking the time to give me some input on this team :) The TTar/Excadrill changes are interesting and I am eager to try them out and see how they work! Some notes I have though are that most of these don't help me out in-game. Ex: Bisharp can't learn Knock Off, Charizard can't learn Fire Punch, Excadrill can't leard Iron Head and I lost the ability to hit Gengar (and others with levitate) with a super effective EQ but gaining the ability to control the weather as well as the speed increase might just be worth it haha Superpower on Azumarill I'm not sure about so I have to check that but I do want to take some of this a play with it. But again, I am trying to get this team in-game and some of these suggestions do not work :/ Thank you for the input though! :)
