SS OU Need Some Help with this Sand

Pokepaste: https://pokepast.es/9d9663097026b6d6

This sand team carried me to 1300's and then just abruptly stopped working. I have been having trouble with the 6th mon but here's the crappy sand team.

Tyranitar @ Smooth Rock
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Toxic
- Crunch
- Stone Edge
I prefer Tyranitar over Hippowdown because Hippowdown sucks in comparison to Tyranitar. Tyranitar becomes a special tank in sand. The 2 attacking moves are just its STABs as it isn't meant to attack. Toxic can cripple random stuff and wear walls down so that Excadrill can finish them off.
Excadrill @ Choice Band
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Poison Jab
- Rock Slide
Excadrill is the best sand sweeper. Dracozolt has a much lower attack stat than Excadrill. Earthquake and Iron Head for STAB, Rock Slide for flying types, and Poison Jab because I have no idea what to put here. It struggles a lot with Corviknight but overall it can wreck havoc and punch holes for Scarf Lando and Hydreigon to clean.
Hexcalbur (Aegislash) @ Life Orb
Ability: Stance Change
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpA
Brave Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Close Combat
- Iron Head
- Shadow Sneak
Aegislash is a really nice mon that can do alot for a team. Its a great mixed attacker and can finish setup sweepers off with Shadow Sneak. It threatens a major part of the meta. I feel like this is the weakest point of the team but I can't find a replacement.

Terra (Landorus-Therian) (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Knock Off
- U-turn
- Superpower
Lando can provide ok speed control and can clean up teams after Excadrill dies. U-turn can bring things into the field safely and does a lot of stuff. It provides a really useful ground immunity as sand teams generally stack a lot of those.

Ghidora (Hydreigon) @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nasty Plot
- Draco Meteor
- Dark Pulse
- Earth Power
This can either be a wallbreaker or can clean up teams. It has a decent speed tier and can hit a majority of the meta. Draco hits anything hard and can ohko practically everything with Draco. It provides a ground immunity as well to not overwhelm Lando.

Mandibuzz (F) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Overcoat
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Impish Nature
- Defog
- Roost
- Foul Play
- U-turn
This is the most shaky mon here. I want to replace it but I'm not sure what to replace it with. It's an ok defogger but it doesn't counter anything and only provides a ground immunity. Its kind of a generic Mandibuzz. Its able to defog well and can keep momentum with u-turn.

The team is kinda bullshit but I suck at making teams so any help/comments would help

Hi bud I got some changes that could be some use

Excadrill @ Left overs
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Rockslide
- Rapid spin

you wanted a very offensive drill so I kept it like that this set is more consistent than band. As once you get it in it’s scary. Rockslide allow you to hit zapdos etc, however I recommend you do this after a boost. Corvinknight and Landorus is a nuisance to this set so heads up. Rapid spin allows it to be your hazard removal as well.

Skarmory @ shed shell
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Body Press
- Spikes
- Iron Defense
- Roost

I opt for skarm over mandi as it is a better check to rilla. I chose shed shell as your item so you don’t loose momentum to magnezone or loose skarm. Just beware of knock. Skarm also gets spikes which is very useful as it can help excadrill sweep easier.

Clefable @ Life Orb
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Calm Mind
- Moonblast
- Soft-Boiled
- Thunderbolt

This mon is pretty good on sand it takes no sand or hazard damage because of its ability and it’s a good fighting switch in for exca and Ttar. It can be a very pestering sweeper once set up. Use over aegi I suggest that.

Toxapex @ Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Haze
- Knock Off
- Scald
- Toxic Spikes

I also have spdef pex as a means of dealing with pult. If you are lucky you will be able to knock off it’s specs. Toxic spikes is to maintain and pressure the defoggers of opposing teams. It’s a really nice tech in conjunction with spikes. I would run it over lando.

Those are my suggestions I like hydra on your team by the way. Best of luck

Hello StegosarausRex! This is a very cool team, and sand is a very fun archetype to play! Here are some changes I would implement:

- Excadrill set
:ss/excadrill: :leftovers:

I suggest changing the Excadrill set to a Swords Dance set. A Swords Dance set allows you to wallbreak and sweep more consistently, while still being able to click multiple moves and provide Rapid Spin support to the team.

- Switching your main defogger
:ss/corviknight: :rocky helmet: / :ss/skarmory: :rocky helmet:

I strongly suggest using Corviknight / Skarmory instead of Mandibuzz. The metal birds synergize well with Ttar, as they are able to check Rillaboom, Lando-T, and Bisharp to some extent, while Tyranitar is able to check Volcarona and Heatran for Corviknight or Skarmory.

- Magic Guard user (Clefable)
:ss/clefable::leftovers: / :life orb:

CM Clefable is a very good mon to use in a sand team due to its ability, Magic Guard. It is able to ignore residual chip from sand, status conditions, and hazards on the field. Additionally, it is able to provide a strong wincon to the team as it can sweep weakened teams. I suggest swapping Landorus-T to Clefable for these reasons.

Have a great day :blobwizard:
