Hello guys, this is my first post here
i am a newbie who's just recently tried competitive battle on pokemon showdown
i've tried to build some pokemon teams, and i think this is the most decent from all of them and manage to get me past 1200 ELO which my other teams can't do.
i believe this team can do better though...
i tried to build my team based on mega metagross-keldeo core. Here is it:
Keldeo @ Leftovers
Ability: Justified
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Calm Mind
- Substitute
- Secret Sword
- Scald
Metagross @ Metagrossite
Ability: Clear Body
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Zen Headbutt
- Meteor Mash
- Ice Punch
- Earthquake
Keldeo checks bronzong, hippowdown, heatran, ferrothorn, tyranitar, which would be troublesome for m-metagross. While m-metagross checks m-venusaur, amoongus, dragonite, thundurus, m-diancie, for keldeo
Tyranitar @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stone Edge
- Pursuit
- Superpower
- Crunch
Tyranitar checks flying types such as talonflame, dragonite, thundurus, as well as pursuit trapping lati@s, m-alakazam and other psychic types. Superpower is coverage move for beating dark, rock, and steel pokemons. This mons also act as secondary special wall due to boosted SpD in sandstorm.
Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 Spe
Bold Nature
- Volt Switch
- Hydro Pump
- Will-O-Wisp
- Pain Split
Rotom-W acts as my main defensive pivot and for spreading burn to cripple enemy's team. It is my only ground immunity and as my main check for water pokemon as i have no grass coverage move in my other teammates. I don't think volt switch is enough for this purpose though...
Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 172 Def / 84 SpD
Calm Nature
- Thunder Wave
- Moonblast
- Soft-Boiled
- Heal Bell
This guy acts as cleric and mixed wall. I chose to run heal bell because i felt that statuses has been limiting my team's sweeping and surviving capabilities. It checks dragon types for the other team mates and also for crippling enemy's speed via thunder wave. I intended him to be the glue for my team. I don't exactly know what're the requirements for a "glue" pokemon though, haha....
Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 188 SpD / 68 Spe
Timid Nature
- Lava Plume
- Toxic
- Roar
- Stealth Rock
I choose to run bulky EV spread to make heatran a decent special wall. It's my SR setter and phazer to counter setup sweepers/walls. Toxic is for additional option to cripple enemy's hit points. He is my main check for grass, bug, and steel types such as skarm, m-venusaur, serperior, scizor, etc.
As you can see, this team is very susceptible to ground moves. I do think that this heatran is not good enough to check those pokemon due to its low speed and his 4x ground weakness. Should i run an attacking EV spread instead?
This team also don't have a defogger/rapid spinner which i think is a slight problem.
I've been thinking to replace rotom-W>rotom-H and manaphy>heatran because it will eliminate heatran's ground weakness and adding a Energy ball coverage move in manaphy. Furthermore, Manaphy can also help to take out flying and dragon types with ice beam.
That's all for this first post of mine. Sorry for not providing a replay because i don't know how to do that yet (haha...)
Your suggestions is much appreciated.
