XY OU Needs rate+helps. Avian problems.

I'm bad at introduction, so let's make this fast.

I always like to run offensive team. After a dozen failed teams, i decided to make this one. Birds core. Yeah, birds core, especially with Staraptor and Talonflame inside (oh, don't forget the Gyarados too). I must say, that this team is really strong. However, there are still so many flaws in this team, especially when my Aegislash was banned (sobs). I'd wanna to fix the flaws. So, I need helps and rates for this Avian Team.

Teambuilding Process:
  • Interested in Birds Core, I decided to make one with Staraptor and Talonflame inside.
  • I need another sweeper that have some synergy with Talonflame, and I choose Mega Gyarados for it's fame.
  • Then, I need an Offensive Leads, that's why I choose Greninja.
  • I think Offensive Spinner is necessary for this Team, so I choose Excadrill.
  • Finally, Rotom-Wash is great for taking some physical and special threats.

Staraptor_Attack_by_Rubii16.png

Staraptor (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Reckless
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Brave Bird
- Double-Edge
- Close Combat
- U-turn

Meet my Guy, Staraptor. Backed by Choice Band (and Reckless for Brave Bird and Double-Edge), this guys moves do a good chunk damage even to Pokemons who resist the move. Brave Bird is the best attack in almost every circumstance, as flying is a good offensive typing and it hits like a truck. The other moves is for coverage to some Pokemons such as Rotom-Wash, Heatran and Tyranitar.

talonflame_by_yggdrassal-d6x2o9c.jpg

Talonflame (M) @ Sharp Beak
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Brave Bird
- Flare Blitz
- U-turn
- Roost

My Staraptor best Partner, meet Talonflame. Priority Brave Bird backed by Sharp Beak surely enough to OHKOing many offensive Pokemon in the tier, and without Life Orb recoil and restriction from Choice Band this Talonflame will stick around longer for revenge killing or possibly sweeping.

Gyarados_fa2589_1732611.jpg

Gyarados @ Gyaradosite
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Ice Fang

I've always liked Gyarados ever since I raise a Magikarp in Leafgreen, yeah the one that 1 bought from the guy in Poke Center. This Gyarados is for sweeping an late-glame cleaning, It's really fun and flexible to play and Water / Ground / Ice moves have great coverage in the tier.

greninja_by_chirenbo-d6wc2q7.png

Greninja (F) @ Focus Sash / Life Orb
Ability: Protean
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Spikes
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Extrasensory

Lead Greninja provides some offensive presence in it's omni-STABs and support in Spikes. With just the listed moves, this Greninja will often beat many Defog and Rapid Spinner such as Latias, Tentacruel and Excadrill. Choosing Spikes over Toxic Spikes is because Toxic Spikes doesn't affect Levitate and Posion-types Pokemon.

excadrill_by_all0412-d5g30m4.jpg

Excadrill @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Rock Slide
- Rapid Spin

I think this Choice Scarf Excadrill is great answer for my team's hazard remover. With It's typing, offensive presence and utility in Rapid Spin, It can even check or revenge killing some threats such as Talonflame, Mega Pinsir and Mega-Zards. Though Choice-locked Earthquake will give opportunity to opponent.

Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 216 SpD / 44 Spe
Calm Nature
- Volt Switch
- Hydro Pump
- Will-O-Wisp
- Thunder Wave / Pain Split

Ah, finally Rotom-Wash. Rotom-Wash was crucial for my teams to take care some threats, especially special one such as Greninja and Landorus, often making this Pokemon as a pivot for my other Pokemon come in safely. Even without investment, this Rotom-Wash is still able to checking physical threats such as Talonflame and Mega Pinsir, although less reliable than Physically Defensive set.

Ok, that's it. I'll highly appreciate any critique and suggestion.

Hey there. This is very solid team , but could use a little fine tuning. The absence of stealth rock means that your team will have a lot of trouble getting KOs that it needs. There is also A rather large issue with electric types such as mega manectric and thundurus who can plow through your few switch ins with their coverage moves.

Some quick fixes I could suggest would be replacing Greninja with a smooth rock Tyranitar and switching Excadrill from scarf to sand rush. Greninja doesn't truly fit the build you've got going here and spikes are really hard to maintain this gen. Ttar allows for a SR user that tank flying hits as well as proving Excadrill even more speed than its scarf set while switching moves allowing wearing down switch ins to your birds. Next I would recommend swapping out your current Rotom-w with a stall breaker mew. This allows for a great mon in helping wear down talon switch ins and tanking hits from Thundurus.

A couple of other suggestions I have would be changing U-turn over to swords dance or just flat out changing over to a choice band set to be a little better at cleaning late game and handling rain teams better. I would also suggest Changing ice fang to taunt on Gyarados, This makes Gyarados able to keep flying resist like Skarmory weak and leaving its other switch ins like venu and ferro to talon and raptor.

Your going to end up being weak to rain but you can play around this with a CB Talonflame being to KO most rain threats after some prior damage if you go the CB route.

Hope I was helpful
