Nemo UU Vol II

This is a team that I created a while ago. I created it around my favourite pokemon, Donphan. I am relitivley new to competitive battling and my inexperiance may show in some areas of my RMTs. I hop you can understand, everyone was a newbie at one point, right.

Lead:

ambipom.png

Ambipom/GutenTag @ Silk Scarf

Adamant Nature

~Return
~Fake Out
~U-Turn
~Low Kick

252 Attack/252 Speed/4 HP

Why this Pokemon?

Ambipom is a better lead than Electrode for the simple reason that it is faster and can hit harder than alot of things out there. First turn Fake Out then a U-Turn into Donphan or Rotom is sexy as I can either get a Paralyz or set up my rocks. If Ambipome doesn't die early game then Return can be a great late game sweeper dealing plenty of damage. I was also suprised about the amount of damage he can do middle game. Switching in on common Psychic Types while they set up then killing them with U-Turn, for this reason I removed Taunt for Low Kick. Low Kick is better than Brick Break because heavy leads are becoming more popular. Ambipom is one of the best leads in UU, in my opinion.

Sweepers:

honchkrow.png

Honchcrow/Moarning @ Life Orb

Adamant Nature

~Sucker Punch
~Brave Bird (HG/SS Move)
~Superpower
~Pursuit

(I want to play Roost, but I don't know what to take off)

EV's

252 Attack/252 Speed/4 HP

Why this Pokemon?

Refered to acuratly by Smogon as the "Stand Alone Sweeper" and acuratly so, this thing can deal a ton of damage. If I fear a switch I can pursuit if I feel like Sucker Punching I can. If I fear a Yanmega I can drill peck. Choice Band can get my much needed K.O'sSuper Power can K.O pesky Chanseys which I have seen alot of recently aswell as adding type coverage. Honchcrow can put dents in entire teams if my opponent is un-prepared. Look out for Steelix and Registeel though, they can cause greif if Aracnine (Z@MG Spoilers) is dead. In Heart Gold and Soul Silver Honchcrow got a new toy, Brave Bird. A high power move that can be more useful than Drill Peck. I changed the Band to an Orb so I don't get locked into BB and not get to Sucker Punch. I can really see him going to OU soon.

gallade.png

Gallade/Gyzarus @ Life Orb

Adamant Nature

~Psycho Cut
~Night Slash
~Close Combat
~Swords Dance

EV's

252 Speed/152 HP/108 Attack

Why this Pokemon

Finally Gallade leavs no-mans-land and comes to a proper tier. I love Gallade and to give him some beef I run 252 Speed and 152 HP, this helps with the Life Orb as well as a bit more bulk. 108 Attack is all that is needed, since I run Swords Dance and Life Orb, making Close Combat a devastating move. Psycho Cut has STAB, aswell as a high crit ratio, I can use it to kill Hitmonlees, Hitmontops, Venasaurs, Weezings (or any other Fighting or Poison types). Close Combat is also STAB and has immense base power and will K.O nearly everything. Night Slash is pretty decent as it hits all of the psychic types in UU, which are plentyful. Uxie, Mespirit, Slowbro, Alakazam whilst also doing a fair amount to ghost types too. And Swords Dance obviously is just to make it kill anything that doesn't resist one of it's attacks.

The 'Defensive' Trio (Previously Duo):

donphan.png

Donphan/PretySolid @ Leftovers

Adament Nature

~Rapid Spin
~Earthquake
~Ice Shard
~Assurance

EV's

252 Attack/252 HP/4 Speed

Why this Pokemon

I changed Donphan into more of a Bulky attacker, since apparently, bulky attack is a good way to operate. Anyway, I have a variety of moves, including the all-important Rapid Spin. Stealth Rocks (aswell as Toxic, and Regular, Spikes) are becoming ever more popular in the UU environment, and as there is only 1 ghost type in UU (Spiritomb) who can block it, then it almost always goes off. Earthquake is an obvious stab + High BP move, which can K.O. most Fighting and Electric types. Ice Shard is for coverage, and so is assurance. Ice Shard checks Ground and Bug Types (aswell as flying, which are less popular) and Assurance is for Psychics such as Uxie and Alakazam. The EV 's are pretty self explanitory, perfect for a bulky attacker. Overall, Donphan excells at what it does and is my favourite Pokemon in UU.

milotic.png

Milotic/Argh @ Leftovers

Bold Nature

~Surf
~Ice Beam
~Recover
~Hypnosis

148 HP / 252 Defence / 108 Special Attack

Why this Pokemon?

Another Pokemon has been replaced, this time, Hitmontop for Milotic. I finally caught a Feebas!! Anyway, Milotic is a great wall and supporter. Previously Sleep (and now poison) was missing, now it isn't. Milotic can Hypnotyse anything then hit hard back at it. He works as a great sponge for Ground, Rock and Ice Type Moves that are becoming ever more popular. I also prefer Hypnosis over Haze. Late game when say, Honchcrow and Aracnine are fainted I can Sleep-Sweep most things. Surf and Ice Beam handle Rock, Ground, Flying, Grass, Fire and Dragon types. Milotic is an all-around beast wall. (Looking for new Ev's on this guy or girl. Any suggestions would be welcome)

registeel.png

Registeel/TonyStark @ Leftovers

Careful Nature

~Thunder Wave
~Iron Head
~Stealth Rock
~Explosion

252 HP / 100 Atack / 156 Special Defence

Why this Pokemon?

I replace the support Rotom with Registeel because the support Rotom really wasn't doing anything. I mean he could send out a burn, but most of the time they could just revenge kill him right away. Registeel is a different story. He has stone like defences and a decent move-pool. He can take just about any status condition on the switch without having to worry about losing a sweeper. I gave Steel two damage dealing moves and two support moves. Stealth Rock is obvious and should be on all teams, and Thunder Wave is also fairly self-explanitory, make things slightly less useful. Iron Head is a stab move and that's all and Explosion is just to finish things off. Registeel is like, for example, a Hummer. Massive, Strong and Fearsome, but quite slow and impractical at times.

Please rate and comment. If some of the desicions are bad please remember that I am fairly new to UU and Competitive Pokemon in general.

Threats:

Milotic

milotic.png

Milotics can Carry a number of things that tear up my team, Ice Beam for Donphan and Honchcrow and Surf for Blaziken and Donphan aswell. The only Electric moves I have are Thunder Bolts, the best I can do is Poison it and beat it down. Lots of teams carry Milotic and I do have the risk of being swept by one.

Donphan and Dugtrio

donphan.png
dugtrio.png

Opposing Donphans and Dugtrios can pose a threat to me. Earthquake can tear holes in this team as half the team are weak to it. As I can K.O both of these pests with either Ice Beam or Surf. A banded Dugtrio can be a bigger pain as the sheer power of trapping Arcanine or Registeel and Picking off can be an irritant and stop me in my tracks.

Blastoise

blastoise.png

For the same reason as Milotic, A Blastoise with Ice Beam and Surf can seriously dent my team. This is a pokemon I would consider running on my team until I can catch a feebas.

Weezing

weezing.png

Since it has Levitate, Ground moves don't effect it and without a Psychic type, or even a Psychic attack Weezing can be a very nasty wall against me. I can take it out in the end. However once it has a burn on me and continues Pain Splitting then it is very much downhill. I might consider Weezing too.

Registeel

registeel.png

Registeel can be a bit of a biatch. His Stone-like defences can be a cork in my bottle as I only have Arcanine to counter him in, albeit in a sub-par manner. Registeel is the best wall in UU for a reason.

If I were you, I would run toxic on Milotic simply because your team struggles to beat opposing Milotic (as well as Quasire and to a lesser extent Blastoise) and the majority of them do not run rest.

a pretty well balanced team but you seem to have problems against bulky waters such as slowbro and opposing milotics!
i suggest replacing your Milotic for this ludicolo

Leftovers Calm
Moveset
~ Leech Seed
~ Protect / Toxic
~ Surf
~ Grass Knot
252 HP / 76 SpA / 180 SpD

takes care of the pokemon u listed as threats bulky waters, donphan, dugtrio and doing decent damage to weezing with surf. Good in general for stalling! :D

I really think that you should change Arcanine for Blaziken. First of all, your explanation is a bit off, as neither Crobat or Staraptor are UU, also psychic attacks are covered well enough by Registeel. Second of all, Blaziken really would solve your problems with Registeel, make it more dangerous for Milotic to switch in and make you less dependant of Honchrow to beat stall.
I'd recommend the following moveset:

Blaziken@ Life Orb
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 240 Atk/ 252 Spa/ 16 Spe
Rash (+SpA -SpD)
-Fire Blast
-Hidden Power Grass
-Vacuum Wave
-Superpower

This guy hits much harder, OHKOs Registeel, Switches in for free on Weezing's Will-o-wisp and OHKOs it as well, can OHKO Donphan if the need arises and actually puts some pressure on Milotic, different from Arcanine, which i believe does around 35% to Milotic with Hidden Power.
Hope I've been helpful =)

I used to run Kin back when Crobat was legal in UU and people were still using Staraptor, and I haven't had a chance to change back. I guess that Kin would be decent, as it has good power over Rhyperior. Thank you.

Just a nitpick,

You should probably replace Brick Break on Ambipom for the more powerful Low Kick, extremely effective against bulkier leads. Brick Break is just a weak move overall, and with HG/SS, you should take advantage of Ambipom's access to a better move.
