This thread is meant to be a resource to newer players unfamiliar with the most common Terastallization ("Tera") types of Pokemon relevant in the NU metagame, as per the current viability rankings. Please note that in any given matchup or situation, any Tera type can end up being the perfect one for the job; this list is just meant to represent the most common Tera types in the metgame. Overqwil - Flying (fight & ground resistances in one package deal, works extremely well on the boots spike setter sets)

Flygon - Ghost (cc immunity, body press immunity for zong, it is somewhat niche however)

Incineroar - Poison (fairy + fight resistance in one)
Mienshao - Steel (fairy + fly resistances together, works well for sd sets and life orb / scarf at times too)
Munkidori - Fairy Flying (the first provides a dark resistance while maintaining your fighting one, the second lets you dodge eq—especially from scarf gon)

Inteleon - Ghost (boots and even some specs sets appreciate cc immunity)

Chandelure - Water (hits incin like tera blast ground but lets you sponge water attacks instead)
Diancie - Steel (basically like rhyperior, use it like a fake steel then use it like a real one if needed)
Sylveon - Poison (lets you check croak & helps versus poisons overall, toxic immunity, maintains fight resistance)

Articuno-Galar - Fairy (lets you take dark & fighting attacks, better handles shao)

Bombirdier - Steel Poison Ground (the first two give a fairy resistance, steel also has great resistances, poison instead resists fighting, and then ground resists rock but is mostly there for elec immunity)
Salazzle - Steel Flying (steel lets u have good resistances as always but also lets u resist psychic specifically, flying lets eq mean nothing and since u usually have boots there’s not a lot of drawback)
Sandslash-Alola - Water Ghost (these two are the main ones i use for it: fire resistance & fight immunity while being good defensive types overall)
