XY OU New Competitive Team

Hello everybody :) I decided to work on trying to think of another team, and I decided to use some less common Pokemon that I think have some good potential, so, I'm sure there's probably some flaws but, It would be wonderful if somebody could give it a look and voice an opinion.

1. Zangoose (M) @ Toxic Orb
252 Attack, 252 Speed, 4 HP, Jolly, Toxic Boost Ability
-Close Combat
-Facade
-Quick Attack
-Knock Off

Zangoose is one of my favorite Pokemon but he's not really used that often, so, I decided to give it a shot. Toxic Orb and Toxic Boost combined for a pretty significant boost in attack, plus this works out amazingly with STAB Facade. Quick Attack is also STAB in case if he's out-sped (which happens pretty often, Zangoose isn't exactly the fastest...) Close Combat is a good move with a good amount of power but it does have the defense loss that is troubling. I don't think I plan on using him as a sweeper but more of a late game sweeper/attack power.

2. Garchomp (M) @ Garchompite
252 Attack, 252 Speed, 4 HP, Jolly, Rough Skin ability
-Fire Fang
-Iron Head
-Dragon Claw
-Earthquake

I seriously love Mega Garchomp, so much. His Attack and Speed are amazing and he has a pretty decent amount of HP, which usually lets him be able to take a few hits. Definately, Mega Garchomp is my main physical sweeper. Fire Fang and Iron Head cover his weaknesses so that he can continue to sweep. Earthquake and Dragon Claw have both very good power and accuracy and do decent damage. Usually I send him out towards the beginning of the battle, if not even the lead.

3. Scizor (M) @ Lum Berry
252 HP, 252 Attack, 4 Defense, Adamant, Technician ability
-Bullet Punch
-X-Scissor
-Swords Dance
-Roost

Scizor is more of a bulky kinda sweeper. Yes, I could have choose to Mega Evolve him, but, I felt it would suit Garchomp better. Bullet Punch gets power increase from Technician, and X-Scissor is a good STAB move with high power. Swords Dance and Roost let Scizor get Attack boost and recover HP so that he can continue to sweep. I'm not exactly sure when the best time would be to use him in battle, but, I'm thinking maybe having him as lead.

4. Arcanine (M) @ White Herb
252 Speed, 252 Attack, 4 HP, Jolly, Intimidate ability
-Close Combat
-Fire Fang
-Extreemspeed
-Wild Charge

Oh look, another physical sweeper. Yeah... I'm quite fond of them. I chose to give Arcanine a White Herb to help counteract his Close Combat. I thought it would be useful for a turn since I couldn't figure out what other item to give him. Maybe an Assault Vest perhaps? Anyway, Fire Fang has decent power with chance to flinch and burn, and Wild Charge and Extreemespeeed are powerful moves that can also be useful in battle. If Scizor doesn't lead, Arcanine will most likely. He's definitely good at putting a decent dent in enemy teams towards the beginning of a battle before they have had time to set up their strategies. Again, Arcanine isn't very commonly used so I decided to give him a shot.

5. Samurott (M) @ Leftovers
252 HP, 252 Special Attack, 4 Defense, Modest, Torrent ability
-Scald
-Ice Beam
-Hidden Power Ground
-Air Slash

When I said I wanted to use more uncommon Pokemon, that also includes Samurott :) Air Slash and HP Ground cover both his weaknesses and give a bit wider range of coverage. Scald was chosen over Surf for possibility of burn, and Ice Beam is a powerful move with, again, some decent coverage. It was kinda difficult to think up a set for Samurott, I think I switched between a physical and special one like three times... But, I believe that if he's used correctly, Samurott can do a pretty good amount of damage. Leftovers I would like to change for Life Orb, perhaps, to add some extra power.

6. Sylveon (M) @ Leftovers
252 Special Attack, 252 Defense, 4 Special Defense, Bold, Pixilate Ability
-Stored Power
-Calm Mind
-Wish
-Hyper Voice

No team is complete without a Fairy type, right? Since most people like to go and bulk up their Sylveons in Special Defense, I figured I'd max out Defense as much as possible since most people likely won't expect that. Sylveon's SP Def is already really good to begin with, and I think that it would help more for his Defense to increase. Calm Mind + Stored Power is pretty good, and Wish + Leftovers make Sylveon even more bulky. Hyper Voice and Pixilate kinda go hand in hand for a good STAB 1.3x boosted powerful attack.

So yeah, I guess that's pretty much the team I've been sort of working on. I'm sure there's flaws but I would still like to be able to use lesser common Pokemon like Samurott, Arcanine, and Zangoose, especially since they're some of my favorites. Pokemon battling isn't always about choosing who's strong, but, choosing who your favorites are, right?

Thanks to everybody that took the time to read this, and anybody that has any help or suggestions, thank you sooo much :) I know this probably isn't a good team, I'm sort of picky about which Pokemon I use though.

Some ideas.

Replace Fire Fang on Garchomp
- Enough Ferrothorn/Scizor coverage with Arcanine
- Draco Meteor is an option, a strong STAB move that hits Physical walls pretty hard. It's base 120 Sp.Atk on top of the base 130 power of Draco Meteor can really pack a punch.
- Crunch can work, for some more Ghost and Psychic coverage. Especially since your team is kind of weak to Gengar and Gardevoir (Mega Gardevoir too) if Scizor faints.
- Outrage is a brilliant option, and if you have eliminated the Fairy threat by means of Scizor or Arcanine, with 170 base Atk. it can win you games.
- Rock Slide / Stone Edge are both great counters to Talonflame and Mega Charizard Y, especially since Samurott won't be able to do much damage in the sun. Rock Slide will still OHKO and has higher accuracy, but Stone Edge will get more neutral damage but has less accuracy.

Remove White Herb from Arcanine
- Close Combat isn't too much of a problem
- Life Orb will give you the ability to go for a set up sweep possibly.
- Choice Band will give you a great revenge killer with ExtremeSpeed
- Choice Scarf will let you outspeed many of Arcanine's counters (Namely Lando-T at Flare Blitz range and Scarf Heatran (which is gaining popularity, it seems).

Bug Bite on Scizor
- Technician boost
- Steals Sitrus Berries / Lum Berries (When yours is popped)
- More Neutral damage thanks to said Technician Boost.

Popped? You mean used or eaten. : )

You should completely overhaul this team. Samurott, Zangoose, and Arcanine are all completely unviable. You said you like Mega Garchomp, but the way this team is built is not how you are supposed to use it. Mega Garchomp is a wallbreaker for sand-based teams. If you are willing to overhaul this team, I can give you the appropriate rate to properly use Mega Garchomp, or even Scizor or Sylveon. You said you wanted an uncommon Pokemon, and I can do that as well.

'How to Rate' quote: 'Many people just blindly suggest changes to the team, but I would argue that after a certain amount of changes, the team is no longer theirs, but you have built a new one.'

I thank you for your opinion, but, I would have to disagree... I've used this team quite a few times on Showdown, and the Pokemon you call "unviable" have been able to defeat some pretty difficult opponents... I mean, I can use Mega Garchomp however I would like to use him... Perhaps it may work better on a sand team, I wouldn't really know, but I can say for sure that going along with what people commonly use isn't always the best strategy either.

Ahh! I completely forgot that Scizor can learn Bug Bite. That's perfect! As for Garchomp, I'll go with Crunch, as it has better accuracy than Rock Slide and Stone Edge, and I don't want to have Garchomp damage himself with Outrage... And thank you for the suggestions on Arcanine. I'll try them out :)
