SM OU New Game, Who Dis (It's got Golisopod)

Hoi Smogon! Been a long time since I last posted (about two years ago).

I've recently fallen in love with a kind of stupid bug, which has quickly become my favorite mon. As such, I've tried to make a team kinda around Golisopod. The sets are somewhat based off those recommended by Pokeaimmd. I'd love to hear your advice in dealing with some threats listed bellow.

Outta Here! (Golisopod) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Emergency Exit
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Leech Life
- Liquidation
- First Impression
- Bulk Up

The star of the show! Aside from it's somewhat lackluster ability, this mon is a threat if it can get a few Bulk Ups off (Proof: http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7ou-530221760). This guy sponges attacks and deals out damage to almost anything. I used to run spikes instead of First Impression, but it can be useful for picking stuff off. Other than that, its purpose is to Bulk Up and stay Healthy with Leech Life.

Science Fair Project (Silvally) @ Darkinium Z
Ability: RKS System
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Parting Shot
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam
- Thunder Wave

Set is Joey's, but is good fun. Ice Beam can 2HKO Landorus' that are always running around, TWave give Golisopod and slower Mons a helping hand, and then there is Z-Parting Shot. This greatly helps Pokemon like Golisopod or those that have taken a bit to much damage or are important in a match-up. All in all a pretty solid mon!

decidueye.gif

Outta Here MK.III (Decidueye) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 120 HP / 252 SpD / 136 Spe
Careful Nature
- Spirit Shackle
- Roost
- U-turn
- Defog

Decidueye...doesn't particularly do much. He's just there as the defoger. Spirit Shackle can be kind of fun for trapping Pokemon that Salazzle can pick on like Toxapex. Other than that...he's just kinda there.

salazzle.gif

Salazzle @ Black Sludge
Ability: Corrosion
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Flamethrower
- Toxic
- Substitute
- Disable

Set is from Joey's Salazzle showcase, but is just super fun. Get in a wall like Vaporeon or Toxapex, Substitute, disable Scald, Toxic the mon or any other that switches in. Kind of gets stuffed by Tapu Fini (along with most of the squad), but is just super useful in wearing down threats and walls. A truly solid mon.

garchomp.gif

Garchomp @ Life Orb
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 HP / 160 Def / 96 Spe
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Fire Blast
- Dragon Claw
- Stealth Rock

It was at this point I kind of ran out of ideas for what else to put on the team, so I recycled a mon I used previously (Link here:http://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/1st-team.3535535/#post-6162691 ). Purpose is to set up Stealth Rock and maybe get rid of Ferrothorn (hence the Life Orb over Rocky Helmet). Actually survives any attack from Tapu Koko at full health or after Stealth Rocks, allowing it to kinda check it (emphasis on kinda).

metagross-mega.gif

Metagross-Mega @ Metagrossite
Ability: Tough Claws
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Zen Headbutt
- Meteor Mash
- Earthquake
- Bullet Punch

This spot was first filled by Bewear (another mon I would love to use) and Mimikyu; both of which did not perform. As such I resorted to a mon I knew was pretty darn good: Mega-Gross. Metagross does what it has always done - punch holes in things. I'd love to say it checks the Tapus, but a surf that did over half damage from a Tapu Fini proves otherwise. Still a great mon.

Threatlist:

The Tapus: Tapu Fini and Choice Specs or Scarf Lele are reoccurring nightmares. If I lose Metagross, it can be pretty hard to come back. Tapu Koko can also be scary, but can be dealt with.

Ferrothorn and Cleffable: Anything that can easily sponge attacks. None of my team are particularly equipped to deal with these mons. Anything with Toxic is also a hassle as it wears down Golisopod, dragging it closer to being emergency exited.

That is all I can think of at the moment. I know I'm kinda sitting in the lower echelons of the ladder, but I'm having a darn good time. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Hey man! It's not such a bad team. But there are a few things I'd suggest which I think would make your team better.

Firstly, change Decidueye<Excadrill. I know this is a major change, but since you told that Decidueye does nothing to your team but defog, and Excadrill can also do that with the additional advantage of having hazard on the opponent's team. Having Excadrill will help you check Tapu Koko, Tapu Lele and Clefable which you said is a major problem.

The set you're running on Garchomp is a bit weird. As it is an offensive Stealth Rock Set, it should have max Attack and Max Speed, to hit as hard as possible. And as you have Excadrill with Stealth Rock, which is a better Rocker as it can pressure the hazard removers, Use the Offensive Swords Dance set on Garchomp. Use Fire Fang<Fire Blast, so that you can still check Ferrothorn, use Swords Dance<Stealth Rock and use Groundium Z<Life Orb. Groundium Z lets Garchomp OHKO standard checks like Ferrothorn and Tapu Fini at +2. It's also highly effective against neutral targets even without a boost, capable of OHKOing offensive Pokemon such as Keldeo, Mega Metagross, and Tapu Lele and defensive Pokemon such as Toxapex.

Other than that, I can't find any weakness as this team looks pretty solid to me. Good luck!
Garchomp @ Groundium Z
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Dragon Claw
- Fire Fang

Excadrill @ Leftovers
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Stealth Rock

Hey man!

Changed Decidueye to Excadrill and have had relative success. Only problem is he seems to get easily dropped by EQ. I might attach an Air Balloon and see how that goes. As for old Garchomp, the IV spread you have suggested always seems to leave it wanting defensively, and it got KOd more often as I would like. As such, I made the change to Swords Dance and Fire Fang, but kept the IV spread the same. Thanks for the advice!

edit: Also forgot to mention didn't put the Groundium Z on Garchomp! Would have made Sivally and Z-Parting Shot redundant!

Hi there, not going to comment on the whole team I think Bulk Up is an extremely bad idea on Golisopod. It just takes one random crit or coverage you weren't anticipating and all your boosting efforts are ruined. From that, I'd suggest a standard move - probably additional priority like Aqua Jet or Sucker Punch - in that slot instead. Or, if you are keen on a defensive boosting set, try something like Bulk Up Buzzwole or SubCoil Zygarde instead.
