New Generation of Semi Stall [OU]

Hiro Stall
Semi Stall teams are by far the best style of play for the entire metagame, so I had to get in on the fun. This is my New Semi Stall for this Generation of Pokemon and can effectively handle several forms of play... so far. I simply just want to see if anyone can suggest any updates or things I should look out for. This team is some what Gliscor weak but almost all teams are so its not an issue to me.

This is what I was looking for in building the team and you will notice how each task is fulfilled AND how it further provides a counter to each style of play.
Semi Stall List
Spikes
Stealth Rock
Toxic Spikes
Weather Damage
Phaser

Skarmory (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Keen Eye
EVs: 252 HP/20 Spd/236 SDef
Careful nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Spikes
- Roost
- Taunt
- Whirlwind
---
Taunt Skarmory is great lead and works great by getting Spikes onto the field early and quick enough to prevent pokemon such as Metagross Hippowdon Forretress and Swampert from setting up their own Stealth Rocks. Taunt also helps against stall in a way and can Roost away damage. Shed Shell would prevent Magnezone from trapping Skarmory for the kill but I put Leftovers for more survivability. Skarmory is already a great wall defensively so packing EV's into its special defense allows it to take hits on both sides quite decently. 20 Speed EV's is just enough to out speed the standard Metagross leads. I should probably place Shed Shell in

Jirachi @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP/180 Spd/76 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Substitute
- Thunderbolt
- Flash Cannon
---
SubCM Jirachi handles Stall very well. With a substitute up it can abuse Toxic Spikes and stat up with Calm Mind. Thunderbolt and Flash Cannon hits a lot of things and provides great coverage and in addition has a chance of paralysis and lowering special defense. This late game sweeper is usually brought out once most of its counters has been weakened severely and entry hazards are up. Pretty standard Jirachi.

Vaporeon (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 188 HP/252 Def/12 Spd/56 SDef
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Wish
- Protect
- Toxic
- Surf
---
Vaporeon provides the Wish support to the rest of the team and is the bulky water type for this team. Toxic is obviously to be able to handle a variety of Pokemon and Wish/Protect stall until the Pokemon succumbs to the Poison. Surf allows Vaporeon to not be useless when Taunted and does decent amount of damage to most Pokemon. Gyarados overall is a problem to teams and Vaporeon can handle Gyarados to a certain degree. In addition with Water Absorb as an ability, with decent prediction Vaporeon can switch in and recover from an attack.

Tyranitar (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Stone Edge
- Crunch
- Pursuit
- Superpower
---
Choice Scarf Tyranitar handles all Ghost and Psychic types very well, namely Rotom-A Azelf and Latias. This was paired with Skarmory as a lead because of the fact that Azelf completely shuts down Skarmory so on the Taunt Tyranitar comes in scarfed and Pursuits or Crunches it down for the easy kill. Fire attacks also aimed at Skarmory are directed to Tyranitar from Infernape/Heatran leads, while Tyranitar can strike back with a Stone Edge. Superpower provides Tyranitar great coverage.(Though sometimes I end up needing Earthquake more.) Latias are taken out very well by Tyranitar and Rotom-A can be a problem with Will o Wisp but generally with smart play and a little luck it can be taken out without having to worry about Will o Wisp. Scarf Tyranitar also functions as a decent revenge killer. Sandstream gets Sandstorm up and prevents the use of leftovers recovery for my opponent.

Rotom-h @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/92 Def/28 Spd/76 SAtk/60 SDef
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Shadow Ball
- Thunderbolt
- Will-o-wisp
- Light Screen
---

Rotom-h is my Rapid Spin blocker and keeps my entry hazards on the field. Shadow Ball and Thunderbolt have nice coverage but Rotom-h is mainly used to provide Burn support through Will o Wisp and set up Light Screen as back up. With those two moves Rotom-h can provide defenses on both sides of the attacking spectrum, allows my Pokemon to hits easier to set up and counter. Tyranitar's are problems to Rotom-h as well but once they switch into Will o Wisp its basically useless on the attack. Being Ghost handles Fighting and Normal attacks as well from strong physical attackers and can WoW back to screw them up.

Nidoqueen (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Poison Point
EVs: 252 HP/176 Def/56 Spd/24 SAtk
Relaxed nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Earthquake
- Fire Blast
- Toxic Spikes
- Stealth Rock
---

Nidoqueen's main purpose is to set up Stealth Rock and Toxic Spikes which it can due easily thanks to its Bulky stats. Most of the EV's are packed into its Defense to take hits better and complete owns Pokemon like Lucario and Scizor. Being part Poison type prevents other opponents to set up Toxic Spikes on me. Fire Blast is for surprise on Steels and Earthquake handles numerous Pokemon as well. Nidoqueen is Relaxed nature so that its defenses and power is not hampered, and 56 Speed EV's are placed to still outspeed the Standard Scizor. Zapdos are also useless against Nidoqueen so its nice to have a Toxic/Thunder Wave Absorber.

Threat List: The thing is.. there are really no Pokemon that can not be stopped by this team so far from me battling with it. Gliscor is an issue to get past but there are really no counters to a Taunt/Toxic/Roost Gliscor. Rotom-A with Will o Wisp can be an issue but with smart play it can be avoided and taken out. Tyranitar, Gyarados, and Salamence can be stopped one way or another and same goes for Agiligross. Lucario can not touch Nidoqueen, and Azelf is taken out by Tyranitar. Latias is handled by Tyranitar. Scizor is stopped by Skarmory/Nidoqueen/Rotom-h. Stall is destroyed by Jirachi. Heatran can be worn down and defeated. And with Spikes/StealthRock/ToxicSpikes layed down, there wont be much of a retaliation. So I don't really know exactly what to put here. Anyways.. Please rate my team.

I simply do not se why the roles of Nidoqueen and Skarmory cannot be combined by using a Forretress. This would give you rapid spin, and all of the necessary hazards bar SR (since triple hazards is excessive.) Your lead could then be replaced with a more specialised lead with SR, such as Swampert. He would also provide extra insurance against Salamence and DDtar, and replace Skarmory in the role of a phazer

Can you explain that spread on Rotom since I cannot tell what the EVs are for.

Hey there, nice team. Just some little things.

Small thing first:

Rotom wants recovery of some form. Right now, he will be worn down easily and will have to rely on Wish support from Vaporeon to restore health, which isn't optimal for a spin blocker. There are two sets you could use.

Pain Split
Rotom-a @ Leftovers
248 HP / 72 Def / 188 Spe -or- 248 HP / 124 Def / 136 SpD
Timid or Bold
-Thunberbolt
-Will-o-Wisp / Reflect
-Substitute
-Pain Split

Resttalk
Rotom-a @ Leftovers
248 HP / 72 Def / 188 Spe -or- 248 HP / 124 Def / 136 SpD
Timid or Bold
-Thunberbolt
-Will-o-Wisp / Reflect
-Rest
-Sleep Talk

The first set has many things going for it: Substitute protects against critical hits, and in conjunction with Pain Split, allows Rotom-a to abuse Toxic Spikes very well. Thunderbolt is a general STAB attacking move with good coverage, and Will-o-Wisp incapacitates Physical Attackers. Cycling through Substitute and Pain Split keeps Rotom healthy, and Substitute also allows Rotom to take status, to an extent.

The second set is tried and true; the standard for the best spin blocker standard play has to offer. Rest and Sleep Talk keep Rotom healthy, allows him to absorb status, etc., etc.

The first EV spread for both sets outruns neutral base 90's such as Lucario and positive base 85's such as Heracross. 248 HP is used because 252 HP yields a Sandstorm number; it is essentially a detrimental EV. The remaining EVs are dumped into Defense to things like Lucario's Crunch and Gyarados' Waterfall better. The latter EV spread is standard so I'll just leave it there.

Reflect is an option over Will-o-Wisp because it doesn't conflict with Toxic Spikes.

And the next issue: I see a large DDMence weakness. Right now, your best bet is probably to lure a +1 Outrage with Vaporeon, hopefully hitting Salamence with a Toxic in the process (unlikely - Vaporeon takes a minimum of 85.3% (Jolly nature), a practically guaranteed OHKO with Stealth Rock), and then sponge it with Jirachi - who is left to retaliate with weak, unboosted Flash Cannons - or Skarmory - who can pHaze Salamence, and potentially rack up some Stealth Rock damage if you have it up. However, these 'solutions' don't really work in the long run if Salamence has Roost, so overall DDMence is a huge issue.

My fix is simple.

Suicune @ Leftovers
252 HP / 176 Def / 80 SpD
Bold nature
-Ice Beam
-Rest
-Calm Mind / Sleep Talk
-Surf

Suicune, OU's bulkiest Pokemon. The EVs take a maximum of 86.1% from +1 Adamant Life Orb Outrage, meaning Suicune will never be OHKOed at full health, even with Stealth Rock. It also takes a max of 78.2% from a Jolly +1 Life Orb Outrage. Rest is used to keep Suicune healthy, Sleep Talk allows Suicune to do something while asleep, Calm Mind can be used for a late game sweep, and Surf is general STAB that hurts Heatran and Infernape.

However, this change takes away your Wish support, which is something this team really wants. So I am going to recommend using Wish over Substitute on Jirachi.

Jirachi @ Leftovers
252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 Spe -or- 252 HP / 216 Def / 40 Spe
Timid or Bold
-Calm Mind
-Wish
-Psychic / Flash Cannon
-Thunderbolt

The first EV spread is similar to the standard except all those extra SpA EVs go into Speed. The 80 SpA EVs don't really do much anyway (Blissey is still 2HKOed at +6 with one Special Defense drop) and tying base 100's is far more useful. The latter EV spread is much more bulky, and it can take things like +1 Life Orb Earthquake from Gyarados. The 40 Speed EVs outrun defensive Zapdos, so you can Calm Mind as it switches in and again as it Heat Waves.

Final nitpick:

I prefer this EV spread on Skarmory:

252 HP / 148 SpD / 108 Spe
Careful nature

This is the spread I used on the semi-stall team I posted a while back, so I'll just quote my description from there.

252 HP EV's, 148 SpDef EVs, and a Careful nature guarantees that Blissey will never 2HKO with Flamethrower, even with Stealth Rock up, even without Leftovers. This means that Skarm can switch into Flamethrower, Taunt and take a second Flamethrower, and Roost up more health than Blissey can take away, eventually allowing Skarmory to Spike up. Vaporeon is in the same boat; STAB Surf will never 2HKO either. The Speed EV's allow Skarmory to outrun 16 Speed Gyarados, which outruns most Resttalk variants. This allows Skarmory to Taunt them before they can use Sleep Talk or Whirlwind before they Roar. In a similar vein, the Speed EV's also practically guarantee that Skarmory will outrun Tyranitar, meaning I can Roost up for the Stone Edge resistance and avoid being 2HKOed. If I stall for a miss, I can also set up another layer of Spikes.

Good luck with the team!
