New in RMT Helrhig_OU_Balance_Offence_Team_V.0.6

Hello Smogon great sages, as you can see in the title this is my first time in RMT, I'm somewhat new to the competitive world of Pokémon, after wandering a bit on the ladder of PS and PO, come to see my pokémon favorites were those from OU, so I made several attempts and modifications to my team, but dont know what else to improve, so I humbly come to you for advice.
changes will be in Blue

TEAM BUILDING

I wanted to build a weatherless balance team around two team members;Latios and Garchomp, garchomp was my life orb abuser and my Latios was my revenge killer, which saved me more times than I can count.

381.gif
445.gif
485.gif

Now I needed something I could use against the sunny-teams, boom! Heatran entered with a defensive set, which could help put stealt rock to beat annoying Volcarona, works wonder against Scizor, Jirachi and other pesky steel types and with air balloon and HP ice it can get rid of the EQ dragons.

381.gif
445.gif
485.gif
640.gif

I wanted to try a new favorite of mine in Gen 5 = Virizion, with great speed, with stab grass-fighting, finishing landorus and other dragons with HP-ice and giving some help vs sand an rain teams was just perfect.

381.gif
445.gif

now i wanted to try cloud nine golduck to help in the weather"less" stage, helping to kill Chlorophyll abuser and Sand rush abuser getting rid of the speed boost and extra weather DMG boost, also finishing my FWG core.

381.gif

485.gif

094.gif

now i needed a reliable spin blocker and partner, so gengar was the obvious choice, gengar was my fovorite sice gen1 and still retain all her (yes my gengar is female) glory, i use a pure special atacker set with giga drain, HPice, shadow ball and focus blast to get the most possible coverage.

in paper the teams seems good but in the practice it wasn't so well, so i started to get rid of this and that and made some replacements, now with Garchomp as scarfed and adding Azumarill to the team.

but the teams was still lacking something, and then i saw the only priority user in my team was Azumarill and was banded (i am not so much of a fan of the choice items but the scarf was a exception) and my virizion was dying almost every time i sended him out or when i used a SD boost.

then came to me, to use tech-Breloom and replace my Azumarill for something that can setup in front of some pokémon and onslaught my foe to oblivion, so i choose Moxie-Gyarados

but in the end i was still frail to ice type attacks, like the ice shard from Mamo and was frustrating to get locked in just one attack, so looked for a pokémon more faster or equal than my latios but with U-Turn or Volt-Switch so i choose Azelf, and now i use him as my lead almost all the time.

now with spore+SD+mach punch and moxie+1 or 2 DD and the help of the SR of heatran to break sashes/sturdy and secure some KO and my azelf as a scout killer i was ready to go, not to mention my sub breaker dualchomp and my Giga Drain gengar to get rid of some pesky foes like gastrodon and sub users.

Hydreigon @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd / 4 Atk
Hasty Nature
IVs: 30 Atk / 26 Def / 28 SDef
- U-turn
- Stone Edge
- Dragon Pulse
- Fire Blast

Azelf, my lead, scout and revenge killer, with that i almost say everything.
I primary use him as a lead, if i can kill my foe lead, then i go for the kill, but if i feel a little suspicious or azelf is in a bad mach up position i go for the u-turn.
With some test, i opted to replace my azelf for scarf hydreigon, now i have almot the same firepower and less weakness including pursuit. and with stone Edge i can kill opposing volcarona.
i didn't find place for lucario and/or Starmie but i will see if i can add them in the future with some more test.

Garchomp (M) @ Persim Berry
Trait: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SAtk / 252 Spd
Naive Nature
- Outrage
- Fire Blast
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge

My wall/sub breaker, Garchomp is there to do one thing, destroy everything. i send him out when I know it's safe to spam Outrage or if i need to kill something. with fire blast and naive nature, i can almost 2HKO skarmory and can kill ferro and scizor outside rain.
i tried scarflatios and the scarfchomp in exchange of my Garchomp but i dont like to repeat items and hydregon have been of more help so far with the scarf thx to the U-turn, and latios with expert belt was also tested but he become a pursuit bait with the new modifications and with my play style. but thx to ganj4lF and Ala for the advice.

Heatran (M) @ Air Balloon
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 6 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Stealth Rock
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Heatran is my counter for other Fire-Type Pokemon like Volcarona, as well as some dragons and rain threats such as Tornadus, and sub CM Jirachi that i can phaze with roar, with air balloom i can avoid earth attack for a couple of turns giving the probability of laying SR and killing an Ice weak pokémon like landorus and sala/chomp even dragonite if SR was on the field.
Thx to Asek for this recommendation, now my Tran is more offensive giving me more kills.

Breloom (M) @ Black Belt
Trait: Technician
EVs: 220 HP / 252 Atk / 38 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Spore
- Seed Bomb
- Mach Punch
- Swords Dance

My sweeper/sleep inducer, the great Breloom, now i can sleep my foes and kill some threats at the same time, with spore i can get a free SD boost and star to rip holes with mach punch and bullet seed, if i can predict correctly i can even kill gengar, landorus, infernape, starmie (well almost every threat that is faster than him ) on the switch with bullet seed, in special gengar who is immune to mach punch.
i opted for jolly nature just in case to spore something, until now have given me some good result thx to the added bulk.
i left the black belt over the Fight-gem cuz the gem is just one time use only and in the next attack i use mach punch it doesn't have any boost, but with black belt at least i have perma 20% boost to kill more thing rather than just open a hole in just one pokémon.

Gyarados @ Lum Berry
Trait: Moxie
EVs: 80 HP / 252 Atk / 176 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Waterfall
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- Dragon Dance

Behold the Jormungand of pokémon, with lum berry it can recover from burn and paralysis and get a free DD in front of common pokémon that use this type of attacks to immobilize my Gyarados just to get killed and give a moxie boost to this beast, i can use him as a lead sometimes and star the kill right from the star, for example i can DD in front of ninetales or politoad
the EVs in speed allow him to reach 399 after a DD enough to out speed all base 130 pokémon and after +2 DD it can out speed all base 80 pokémon with double speed as venusaur in sun for example, the 80 EVs in HP is for some bulk and the rest in Attack.

Gengar @ Life Orb
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Giga Drain
- Focus Blast
- Shadow Ball
- Hidden Power [Ice]

My special sweeper, life orb is for max damage and secure the KOs and giga drain to kill gastrodon, domphan, mamo just to name a few and restore the life orb damage received, HPice to kill landorus, and those pesky dragons.

THREATS
Latios this thing is handled with a combination of heatran and Azelf and if im lucky and is not scarf latios, then gengar or a +2 gyarados can get rid of this thing.

Dragonite after a DD almost all my team is raped, my only hope is my heatran HP ice and psyshock from azelf to kill this thing.

Volcarona well if this thing can set up a QD or 2 is the same as dragonite but if i still have heatran with air balloom and volca is lacking HP earth then i can roar and wear it down with stealh rock.

Landorus heatran, garchomp and gengar are my response to landorus in both formes but this thing become very difficult to kill if it is the scarf version.

Hey, I like your team, although I can see something that can be improved.

First of all, while Azelf is nice as a revenge killer, it's completely shit down by any Pursuit user after it kills something. Scizor can take anything bar Fire Blast, and Tyranitar doesn't fear its attacks at all (unless you U-Turn out, but then you're constantly forced to switch just because the opponent has a Pursuit user). I think that Jirachi is a better choice for a Scarf user; while it's slower, and misses those Scarf base 108 like Keldeo that are much used nowadays, it has a number of tricks that makes it unique, like flinching things to death, resistance to common attacking types like Dragon, Rock, Steel, and a neutrality to Dark which is quite useful on a Choiced mon. Also, the awesome base 100 defensive stats mean that even a Rain Scarf Hydro Pump from Keldeo only has a small chance to OHKO if hazards aren't in play, and if you really hate the pony, Jirachi can hit back with a surprise Zen Headbutt (that's quite effective on a number of other things, see Toxicroak or pure Fighting types like Machamp or Conkeldurr).

385.png

Jirachi @ Choice Scarf | Serene Grace
Jolly | 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
- Iron Head
- Ice Punch
- Fire Punch / Trick / U-Turn
- Zen Headbutt / Trick / U-Turn

Another thing I'd do is to replace Garchomp with Latios. Latios is a much better wall breaker than Garchomp, since it doesn't rely on Outrage to kill things (so it's not easily eliminated by Ice Shards), hits actually much harder thanks to Draco Meteor, and carries an impressive number of resistances that will be indeed useful to your team (especially Water - your team doesn't seem to handle too well strong Water attackers). Latios is also faster, outspeeding all nonScarf Keldeos, Terrakions, and everything below. With Psyshock and HP Fire, it already achieves almost perfect coverage, being able to hit hard those pink blobs, Steel types, and everything else with Draco Meteor. Surf can be useful to round the coverage (essentially for Heatran or Jirachi in Rain) or you can use Roost to improve longevity.

381.png

Latios @ Life Orb | Levitate
Timid | 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- HP Fire / Surf
- Roost / Surf

Other little things: fix IVs on Breloom since that 30 IVs should be 31. Consider using Leftovers on Heatran, or just switch to an Offensive version. Air Balloon is not great on something that's meant to take hits, like Specially Defensive Tran.

Hope I helped somewhat. Good luck.

thx for the reply and the suggestions, gonna try out all what u say and see how the thing turn around with the modifications =).
gonna edit everything when i finish some test with the team.

Hey, nice team, I really dig the creativity of your Gengar set!

Well just going by what threats your team has trouble with, I would change Garchomp to your Scarf user (you don't even have to change the moveset!) since it outspeeds Scarf Landorus, +1 Volcarona, non-Scarf Latios and lives +1 Extremespeed from Dragonite. A truly good Scarf pokemon needs to have revenge qualities and the ability to continue to come in to check stuff, which Garchomp has in spades compared to Azelf.

Azelf as a sweeper is alright, but like ganj4lF mentioned it is Pursuit weak and priority is relatively common, especially coming from Scizor. You have Gengar as well, who is weak to same sort of attacks so I'd suggest using another wallbreaker in Azelf's spot. I'm thinking Lucario could do a lot of damage for you and patch up some holes, namely pokemon like Scarf Keldeo and Scarf/Rock Polish Terrakion. Here is the set:

Lucario @ Life Orb
Trait: Steadfast / Inner Focus
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Close Combat
- Bullet Punch / Ice Punch
- ExtremeSpeed
- Swords Dance

I usually go with Adamant nature because I love hitting as hard as possible, and you would want Bullet Punch to do massive damage to Terrakion. Ice Punch is also an option if you are finding Gliscor to be a big thorn in your side. Lucario also sets up on Pursuit users which is great because Gengar is a pretty big lure for those.

Edit: Also, I should add that my latest favorite Breloom set includes Focus Punch over Swords Dance. It uses Fighting Gem as well, since typically after you Spore something the opponent will switch in a pokemon that resists Breloom's attacks, and a Focus Punch with the boost of Fighting Gem makes for a really powerful attack. Give it a try if you like.

I hope this helps out your weaknesses, best of luck with the team!

hi

Cool team. First off I noticed your team is pretty weak to entry hazards, and spike stacking teams in general. Deoxy-D teams will have no problems getting up Stealth Rock and at least 1 layers of spikes against your teams, unless you want to risk using gengar to try beat deo-d, as gengar can eaisly be swatted aside by any set carrying psycho boost. Once Stealth Rock and a layer of spikes has been layed down, your team is severly hampered switching wise, and will struggle to have checks healthy for the powerful sweepers found on these teams. As other raters have brought up, Azelf is the weakest link here. If you take ala's Scarf Garchomp (which I second) Azelf's purpose on this team isn't a lot at all. To instead retain a check to CM Keldeo while also gaining a pokemon to help with Deo-D offense, I highly suggest Offensive Rapid Spin Starmie > Azelf. Starmie provides the vital rapid spin to get rocks off the field, which helps gyarados immensly. Starmie beating the common Deoxy + Gengar combo is another valuable thing it does for this team, making you much less weak to this team type. Starmie can easily check most fighting pokemon in the meta, which your team would like to have, and can also status sponge for the team and generally be a strong team supporter. Helps a lot vs rain teams and can be a pain for them to get rid of with its insane speed stat, destroying most common rain mons.

Specially Defensive Heatran doesn't really fit your team. It slows you down momentum wise as the rest of your team is offensive, and can't do much back to opponents. I would instead use the standard offensive Heatran over your current set. This set gives you some major fire power to fire off brutal attacks, and can help against sun teams once dugtrio is gone immensly. Not many pokemon found on sun teams can take heatrans Fire Blast under sun, and the fact that it still provides your team with SR and an offensive dragon check if you've got balloon intact cannot be ignored. This should fit your team a lot better than your current set does.

Now, I would definitly opt for Stone Edge > Dual Chop on garchomp if you take the choice scarf route (reccomended). This allows you to get the guranteed revenge on volcarona, and some gyarados, which can be crucial if they are setting up at high health. Dual Chop won't see much use, as chomp only should be coming out when you actually need it to cut a sweep short, using it before that is just giving away the fact that they're sweeper can be revenged easily with garchomp still around. I would also opt for Fighting Gem > Black Belt on breloom. The Once off boost of fighting gem allows for you to fire off an insanely powerful mach punch at +2 that can muscle through some usual checks, and just gets the job done a whole lot better than black belt in general. I would also change to an EV spread of 220HP/ 252Atk/ 36Spe with an adamant nature. This maximises breloom bulk to captialize on its pretty cool set of resistences, and the speed lets you beat standard skarmory and wobbufett, which is all you need really considering the best you get out of max speed is beating fast metagross and speed tying opposing breloom.
