ORAS OU New ORAS OU Team

Hi all! I posted a RMT two weeks ago and I used some of the suggestions to improve my team! I just want to know if there is anything else I might want to change.

Metagross @ Metagrossite
Adamant Nature
Clear Body/Tough Claws
252 Atk/252 Speed/4 Def
Meteor Mash
Zen Headbutt
Ice Punch
Hammer Arm

Metagross is the star of my team. I like his large bulk and big Attack stat and he can be a good sweeper. I went with an Adamant one to increase attack and I maxed out Attack and Speed. I also gave him a bit of Defense. Meteor Mash and Zen Headbutt are for STAB. Ice Punch and Hammer Arm are for coverage.

Clefable Leftovers
Calm Nature
Magic Guard
252 HP/172 Def/82 SpeD
Moonblast
Thunder Wave
Stealth Rock
Moonlight

I went with Clefable because I wanted a Fairy type and a hazard setter that can be bulky. I went with a Calm one and I went with Magic Guard as its ability so I don't have to worry about taking damage from burns, weather, etc. I maxed HP and gave it a good amount of Defense and some Special Defense so it can tank. Moonblast is for STAB, Thunder Wave and Stealth Rock are for hazards, and Moonlight is for so it can recover HP (I don't have access to Soft-Boiled).

Weavile Life Orb
Jolly Nature
Pressure
252 Attack/252 Speed/4 Def
Icicle Crash
Ice Shard
Low Kick
Knock Off

I wanted Weavile because I needed a fast, offensive Pokemon. Its typing can take out main threats (such as Bisharp). I went with a Jolly one so I could get maximum speed. I maxed out Attack, Speed, and I gave it a small amount of Defense. Icicle Crash and Knock Off are for STAB, Ice Shard is for revenge kills, and Low Kick is for coverage.

Raikou Choice Specs
Timid Nature
Pressure
32 HP/252 Special Attack/224 Speed
Thunderbolt
Volt Switch
Shadow Ball
Signal Beam

I chose Raikou becuase since Weavile is a swift physical attacker, I wanted a fast special attacker. I chose a Timid one and maxed out its Special Attack. I gave it almost max Speed and a little HP. Thunderbolt is for STAB, Volt Switch is for STAB and for quick hits that can help it easilt switch out. Shadow Ball and Signal Bean are for coverage.

Starmie@Life Orb
Timid Nature
Natural Cure
4 HP/252 Special Attack/252 Speed
Hydro Pump
Ice Beam
Psyshock
Rapid Spin

I chose Starmie becuase my team needed a spinner and it can also have offensice capabilities. I chose one with a Timid nature and maxed out Special Attack. I also maxed Speed and gave it a little HP. I chose Natural Cure for the ability so I can heal status conditions when I switch out. Hydro Pump is for powerful STAB, Psyshock is for STAB and so I can hit bulky special walls. Ice Beam is for coverage. Rapid Spin is so I can remove hazards like Stealth Rock.

Salamence@Choice Scarf
Jolly Nature
Moxie
252 Attack/252 Speed/4 Def
Outrage
Earthquake
Fire Fang
Double Edge

I chose Salamence because I wanted a Dragon type for my team and I felt Salamence with a Choice Scarf fit well. I chose a Jolly one and maxed out Speed so I can outspeed most things. I also maxed out Attack and gave it a little Defense. I chose Moxie for the ability so I can increase Attack while I swept.
Outrage is for STAB, and Earthquake, Fire Fang, and Double Edge are all for coverage.

I would appreciate any input! :)

Hiya! This team is pretty cool, and I have a couple of suggestions:
  • On Metagross-M, I would suggest running Jolly over Adamant. While the power drop prevents hits like a 2HKO on Mega Sableye, the added speed will help you outspeed base-100s and speed-tie with base-110s.
  • While it's good on paper, Scarf Salamence isn't really recommended for OU usage because of the amount of fairies running amok in the tier. By no means is it bad, but you may also benefit from having Dragon Dance Dragonite on your team. It fulfills the role of Salamence, and is more efficient in doing so with tools such as Extreme Speed. Here's a sample set:
    Dragonite @ Lum Berry
    Ability: Multiscale
    EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
    Adamant Nature
    - Dragon Dance
    - Outrage
    - Extreme Speed
    - Earthquake
If you choose to keep Salamence, however, I would definitely suggest using Fire Blast over Fire Fang (with Naive over Jolly) and Iron Tail over Double Edge.
The latter suggestion is because Double Edge is really only for Aerilate Megamence, while Iron Tail comes with the benefit of hitting Fairies for super-effective damage.
The former suggestion is because Fire Fang, despite being a physical move, is relatively weak in comparison to Fire Blast. Naive would also come into play so that Special Attack isn't negatively affected. Check out the following calcs:
    [*]252 Atk Salamence Fire Fang vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Skarmory: 84-100 (25.1 - 29.9%) -- 0.2% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
    [*]0 SpA Salamence Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Skarmory: 228-270 (68.2 - 80.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

    [*]252 Atk Salamence Fire Fang vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Klefki: 112-134 (35.2 - 42.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

    [*]0 SpA Salamence Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Klefki: 192-228 (60.3 - 71.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
    [*]252 Atk Salamence Fire Fang vs. 248 HP / 0+ Def Mega Scizor: 204-240 (59.4 - 69.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
    [*]0 SpA Salamence Fire Blast vs. 248 HP / 176 SpD Mega Scizor: 292-344 (85.1 - 100.2%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO
  • I would also suggest, if you go through with switching to Dragonite, to use Specs Magnezone over Raikou. Albeit being slower, Magnezone works extremely well with Megagross, Clefable, and Dragonite. It helps eliminate the bulky Steel-types that could potentially break your team, as well as bulky Waters that threaten Megagross. Even though it is susceptible to Ground-types, Weavile and Starmie cover that. Try a set like this:
    Magnezone @ Choice Specs
    Ability: Magnet Pull
    EVs: 172 HP / 252 SpA / 84 Spe
    Modest Nature
    - Volt Switch
    - Hidden Power Fire
    - Flash Cannon
    - Thunderbolt
If you decide to keep Raikou, then you could benefit from switching Signal Beam to HP Ice.
This is because HP Ice, which hits ground types super-effectively, hits more Pokemon for supereffective damage than Signal Beam does (with the rest of its moves, Raikou hits 67 more Pokemon super-effectively with HP Ice over Signal Beam such as threatening Ground-types.)
For this, you'd need an IV Spread of 30/3/30/31/31/31 for 70 BP Hidden Power Ice.
  • As a side note, make sure that all of your specially-oriented Pokemon have 0 IVs in Attack. This reduces damage from confusion and moves like Foul Play. Pokemon affected include: Clefable, Starmie, and Magnezone.
These are only suggestions; you don't have to use them all. I hope I helped!
Good luck on your team, and have a nice day n_n
