SM OU New Player - Help with my VolTurn Team

Hey all, just getting back into the game competitively and looking to tweak my team. This team got me from ~1200 elo to ~1400 which is obviously still pretty bad.

The goal of the team is to force switches to set up good match ups and free turns
.

Scizor-Mega @ Scizorite
Ability: Light Metal
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 244 Def / 8 SpD
Impish Nature
- Roost
- Bullet Punch
- U-turn
- Defog

Defensive pivot with defog and priority stab. I'm a little worried he is too weak without investment in ATK and no Swords Dance so I may want to change that but I'm not sure if I should

Tapu Koko @ Choice Specs
Ability: Electric Surge
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Dazzling Gleam

Strong Special attacker and sets up Electric Terrain for Hawlucha. One of the best people on the team.

Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch
- Defog
- Will-O-Wisp

Switch in for ground attacks that threaten Koko and Fire attacks that threaten Scizor. I honestly just throw this guy in all the time to try to burn somebody, defog, or just eat a hit.

Landorus-Therian @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 240 Def / 16 Spe
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- U-turn

Usual start unless they have Greninja and then i will just start Rotom-W. My only source of racks, high defense, and immunity to electric and ground makes him a good switch in for a lot of threats.

Hoopa-Unbound @ Fightinium Z
Ability: Magician
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nasty Plot
- Dark Pulse
- Psychic
- Focus Blast

Wallbreaker and Fightinium Z catches alot of people off guard. If they send in a wall I'll usually get a Nasty Plot off and knock it out.

Hawlucha @ Electric Seed
Ability: Unburden
EVs: 152 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD / 96 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Acrobatics
- High Jump Kick
- Swords Dance
- Roost

Usually send in off of a Volt Switch from Koko and try to do as much as I can or even sweep with him.

Problems I've already had:
- No fire moves at all so Steel types can be pretty problematic - especially Magearna.
- Scizor is kinda weak and not sure if I should change his set.
- If I don't have Koko Greninja is super annoying to deal with
- My team is not that fast. Hawlucha needs Electric Terrain to be fast, Scizor has priority but doesn't hit that hard and I have nobody Scarfed

Any advice would be great and I'm open to trying major changes. Thanks.

Hi Flare-1! I'm A and I'll be rating your team.

For a newcomer this actually isn't too shabby, but improvements can definitely be made. Here's some suggestions to patch up on things.

SD M-Scizor >
scizor-mega.png
Defog M-Scizor

We'll be running a different defogger, so swapping over to SD M-Sciz as a contingency sweeper which capitalizes on NP Hoopa's breaking is pretty nice, and it allows you to recklessly use Hawlucha to revenge kill without losing your win condition.

Assault Vest Tapu Bulu >
tapu_koko.png
Tapu Koko

Tapu Bulu patches up some of defensive issues and provides a more reliable way of dealing with threats (Greninja, opposing Koko), this does weaken the offense MU a bit but SD M-Scizor and the other changes will circumvent that. Nature's Madness chunks Mage too for a hefty amount.

landorus-therian.png
Fast Toxic Lando-T >
landorus-therian.png
Defensive Helmet

Landorus-T will still be defensive, but its moveset and EV spread has been slightly tweaked. While the next Pokemon does aid vs Heatran, it can still be incredibly annoying to deal with, and this Landorus is EV'd to outpace by 1 point to help deal with that. In addition, Toxic over U-turn allows you to have an option vs Hawlucha, which can be a huge threat otherwise. Poisoning it as it attempts to Swords Dance gives you some breathing room as its time is now limited. Toxic on Landorus-Therian also cripples Zapdos, which helps Hawlucha and Scizor-Mega a great deal by putting their hard counter on a timer as well.

Scarf Latios >
rotom-wash.png
Rotom-Wash
Scarf Latios provides means of revenge killing vs speedier threats, provides Defog, and some important resistances to work with, and buffers vs Heatran as well (can Trick vs leftovers variants, and can also Trick Magearna). It also supplements Hawlucha, no longer solely on it for dealing with established Pokemon on the field.

Grassy Seed >

Electric Seed

Since Tapu Koko is no longer on the team, you should use Grassy Seed instead to let Hawlucha get the Unburden boost off. The EV spread has also been modified, 128 Speed EVs outpace other Hawlucha (Smogon standard), Sand Rush Excadrill by 2 points, and other Hawlucha who try to creep Excadrill.

Anyway, that's about it. While not perfect, these changes should be better overall for the team, although this does somewhat compromise the Volt-Turn aspect, Scizor is still able to freely bring in the likes of Hoopa-Unbound against opponents with U-turn, and double switching with Landorus-Therian should still suffice. Good luck and have fun in SM OU!
