Hey there, first of all, hello to all of you and my apologies if this doesn't go in this section.
So, I've been playing Pokemon for years, but never got into competitive and now some friends (who have at least tried competitive before) decided to play together and battle in SS.
The team consist on sweeping in the late game with Dynamax Excadrill's powerful hits, and it's also supposed to fight of my friend's dark type team that consists of Tyranitar, Hydreigon, Bisharp, Scrafty/Umbreon, Mandibuzz and Grimmsnarl. Also, and possibly an irrelevant detail, my name IRL is Iron, so the team being steel type was coming :P. And the team is more inclined to battle him or my other friends. My team consist of:
The core of the team is Excadrill and his powerful hits while dynamaxed, increasing his speed with Max Rockfall. He's supposed to be there to defeat the remaining team after everything that can check on him are defeated. I aim to have him able to one shot everything in it's path, therefore, I'd have to want to keep Mandibuzz out of the fight or other Excadrill checks like Ferrothorn (if fighting online with someone other than him). He could counter his Bisharp with Max Quake, Tyranitar with Max Steelspike. I am unsure if he can one shot Grimmsnarl or Hydreigon. Definitely doubt he can one shot Mandibuzz.
The team:
Corviknight @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 200 Def / 56 SpD
Impish Nature
- Defog
- Roost
- Brave Bird
- Body Press
Is the other defensive option to switch in to waste a turn of Dynamaxed Tyranitar's max quake as well as potentially one shotting Bisharp, Tyranitar and possibly Grimmsnarl (Though not sure with this one as it has Bulk Up and Drain Punch) with a powerful Body Press thanks to it's great defense and heal the damage with Roost. Defog for anything that might bother Excadrill for the time it comes out and he is only realistically threatened by Hydreigon's fire blast. Can be used to fight grass types that can give Excadrill problems.
Duraludon @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Light Metal
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
IVs: 0 Atk
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor (or Dragon Pulse)
- Thunderbolt
- Flash Cannon
- Dark Pulse / Stealth Rock
Is the other special attacker of the team. Against my friend's dark types, his main role is outspeeding and one shotting Hydreigon with Dragon Pulse (or Draco Meteor, but that one can miss) and try to chip Mandibuzz away with Thunderbolt. Still good against Bisharp with his low Special Defense or a Bulk Up boosted Grimmsnarl with Flash Cannon. In general, it can counter Gyarados with Thunderbolt and take other Water types that can outspeed and one shot Excadrill like Intelleon or Barraskewda here. Dark Pulse for Dragapults.
Lucario @ Life Orb
Ability: Steadfast
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Aura Sphere / Focus Blast
- Flash Cannon
- Vacuum Wave
- Dark Pulse / Dragon Pulse
He is basically there as a special attacker, considering most of my team is Physical. Is also there to try and outspeed pokemon that can threaten the walls like my friend's Hydreigon with Fire Blast (Hitting it with Aura Sphere or Focus Blast (If he can outspeed it, considering Hydreigon goes with speed EVs), to literally one shot Bisharp or threaten a Bulk Up boosted Grimmsnarl with Flash Cannon. On general battles, it's there to check on powerful defensive pokemon that my Physical Steel types cannot harm effectively, especially other steel types, and as backup resort if Duraludon is out. Undecided with the last two moves so need assistance optimizing this.
Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 24 Def / 232 SpD
IVs: 0 Spe
Sassy Nature
- Spikes
- Leech Seed
- Gyro Ball
- Power Whip
Would be a defensive option to *try* and take a hit from Dynamax Tyranitar or to set up spikes/Leech seed on other threats like Mandibuzz who often comes to switch and defog Stealth rocks/Spikes. Or to try and stall any other Pokemon he Dynamaxes sans Hydreigon, who has Fire Blast. Or to take out Bisharp who has Sucker Punch with Life Orb. Used also to waste Umbreon with Leech Seed and force the switch or to prevent a sweep from Scrafty's Moxie, but I am unsure if he can handle him. T Against other players, used to stall Gyarados, whom I heard was very used currently and waste it with Leech Seed or force a change, or as a Spikes user in general.
Aegislash (Taken from the page)
Aegislash @ Iron Ball
Ability: Stance Change
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
IVs: 0 Spe
Sassy Nature
- King's Shield
- Toxic
- Gyro Ball
- Shadow Ball
Would be the first pokemon I'd send out. Thanks to his amazing defense and Toxic, can bother a sweeper with it, can go second always second thanks to Iron Ball, take the hit in Shield form and then deal insane damage in Attack Form, just to go back to Shield form with King's shield and help toxic to waste more any opponent. Might be able to waste Mandibuzz with it or force it to switch out to another pokemon that it can poison. Since it is half ghost, any dark move might deal enough damage, especially coming from Scrafty, Tyranitar, Hydreigon or Grimmsnarl, so he is one mostly to waste with Toxic, force switch and land a Gyro Ball to slowly weaken and then switch out for a either Ferrothorn or Corviknight. He is a good check in general for Pokemon that can threaten Excadrill such as Hawlucha in Electric Seed, if I am not mistaken, and like the other support, can poison/stall or deal enough damage to almost any pokemon that can deal with Excadrill and prevent his sweep, sans Ferrothorn that cannot be poisoned.
Excadrill @ Life Orb / Weakness policy
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Rapid Spin
Is the core of the team and the one to finish the battle when there are no pokemon that can check him. Max Rockfall to create a sandstorm and double his speed while hard hitting Mandibuzz if still in play, Max Steelspike to one shot Dynamaxed Tyranitar (Not sure if he would still be faster than a Tyranitar with one Dragon Dance), Bisharp with Max Quake, Grimmsnarl with Max Steelspike, other fire types with Max quake. The item would be Life Orb to allow him to hit harder, Assault vest to increase his special defense or Weakness policy.
I've been thinking on adding Excavalier, Galarian Meowth's evolution or Cooperajah. But I'd like recommendations as this is my first time and is the type and team I got while reading some guides. I am unsure with the items and some moves, as this is actually the first time I try competitive. I know Excadrill can do better with Sand Spit Sandaconda with Glare and Focus Sash, for instance or Tyranitar, but these are for a ground type monotype I might do.
Thank you in advance.
