New poketrainer here -- realllllyyy could use some advice...

Well first off, I'm rather new to this side of Pokemon, were EVs, IVs and other stuff are taken into account--- All I usually do is train train train by levelling up my pokemon and trying to maximize stats that I desperately need for my pokemon to do well....

Before I post my team -- I'd be really grateful if someone could tell me how exactly can I find a mentor to give me a few tips and tricks on how to better raise my pokemon... tks guys....

The team I'm posting up is that which I take with me to Battle Frontier -- Battle Tower........

So first up, Dragonite --

Lvl 86 Adamant Nature
Hp 263* ( quite low ??)
Attack 309
Defence 185
Sp. Attack 201
Sp. Defence 189
Speed 177 (really need to raise this stat)

move set : Thunderbolt, Surf, Flamethrower Outrage ( A powerful all-rounder )

Well -- powerful attack says it all basically.... usually give Dragonite a focus sash to avoid 1-hit K.O. ice type moves.... He is the first pokemon i use, being quite a good allrounder capable of instantly killing anything....

Next Up Garchomp --

Lvl 80 Bold Nature
Hp 277
Attack 220
Defence 202
Sp. Attack 148
Sp. Defence 177
Speed 193

Move set: Earthquake, Outrage, flamethrower, Stone Edge ( need a dragon type who does have a good defence will still capable of inflicting damage..)

Usually swap him with Dragonite after he gets confused. Being Bold nature he can survive up to 3 ice hits no problemo... :P and tbh I favour him over a garchomp with jolly nature due to the increase in defence which I badly need.

My Starter Infernage

Lvl 88 Naughty Nature
Hp 274
Attack 238
Defence 164
Sp. Attack 235
Sp. Defence 130
Speed 238

Move set : Flamethrower, Flare Blitz, Close Combat, Thunderpunch

Well high attack, high speed, allowing me to gain the upper hand in giving a first, strong hit.... though defence is absolutely rubbish, most of the time getting a 1 hit K.O.

This team ain't so bad, however I find myself struggling a bit with faster moving pokemon. I really wish to raise my Dragonite's speed so that he can strike first most of the time, rather than second. Furthermore, bring a party of pokemon who have ice-type moves and have high speed stats. and obviously I almost certainly loose.... :/

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

If you could give me some tips on what I need to do to improve these 3 pokemon... I'd be really grateful :)

Um, we don't really rate ingame teams like this one, so I'd recommend reading the rules. If you were looking to get into competitive pokemon then maybe read through the analysis pages on this site, download a simulator such as Pokemon Online and so on.

Anyway, this is almost certainly going to get locked :)

Oh stop being a mini mod ^_^ but he's right (I'm a hypocrite,I know) I suggest going to battling 101 or even Serebii for info on EVs and IVs and Natures and so on. Print out a few charts. BREED YOUR POKEMON. And just have fun.

Why don't you take a look at my team in this very same forum(it's called Ultimate Trick Room Team) and that will give you at least an idea of what a competitive team looks like.
