New Spin On Old Classic

After testing a "metanite" core team on pokemon online for some time i fell in love with the concept, though after some time I began to get tired of the same old same old and realized that it was time for an update to an old classic. I decided to use one of my favourite pokes from genV as half of the integral core, Hydreigon. I am still not sure what the other half should be, but this team has given me success so far and I am open to all advice/

Hydreigon
-modest
-choice scarf
-levitate
-flamethrower
-surf
-draco meteor
-dark pulse
EVs: 252 spA/ 252 spE/ 4 spD

Hydreigon is my main choice sweeper and many times is my lead. He has the great ability to decimate leads like Ferrothorn, Azlef, Tyrannitar, and Hippodown, and can even do some serious damage to Politoed with STAB draco meteor.

Conkeldurr
-brave
-leftovers
-guts
-mach punch
-drain punch
-payback
-bulk up
EVs: 252 atk/ 120 hp/ 136 spD

Conkeldurr is my bulky setup sweeper. The idea behind Conkeldurr is to allow him to get as many bulk ups as possible using leftovers and drain punch to keep him alive. After 3-4 bulk ups he can mach punch sweep everything to death, with payback added in to hit those pesky ghost types hard who seek to wall him.

Sigilyph
-timid
-mirror coat
-flame orb
-cosmic power
-stored power
-roost
-psycho shift
EVs: 252 hp/ 200 def/ 56 spE

Sigilyph is my defensive wall and setup sweeper. Sigilyph is so bulky and often times I can get upwards of 8-10 cosmic power boosts off in a game and procede to sweep, and if that fails, he is great for spreading bur around with psycho shift to ruin powerful physical attackers and dent opposing walls.
gastrodon.png

Gastrodon
-sassy
-leftovers
-storm drain
-scald
-ice beam
-earthpower
-recover
EVs: 252 hp/ 252 spD/ 4spA

Gastrodon is the unsung hero of this team. Combined with Ferrothorn they form my defensive core and completely wall most weather teams. Gastrodon is even capable of sweeping successfully after absobing a powerful water hit.

Ferrothorn
-impish
-leftovers
-iron barbs
-toxic
-leech seed
-power whip
-stealth rock

Ferrothorn is my stealth rocker and physical wall. His job is to work along with Gastrodon to wall my opponent's powerful sweepers that I may have no set counter for. Just your standard defensive ferrothorn
jolteon.jpg

Jolteon
-timid
-choice specs
- volt absorb
-thunderbolt
-shadow ball
-volt switch
-signal beam
EVs: 252 spe/ 252spA/ 4spD

Jolteon is my reveng killer plain and simple. He is amazingly fast and with choice specs can absolutely wreck unprepared teams. I chose signal beam over the standard hidden power grass to opposing dark and psychic types that try to wall me once one of my main sweepers has died.

Overall I am not quite happy with this team, but I feel it has great potential.

I would replace Toxic for Protect on your Ferrothorn so that you can leech seed off your damage
Also, I'm not so sure Gastrodon is the best choice for your team as none of your team is weak to water-type moves.

Hello! You seem to have a nice team, but I see a little negative point on your team. A LO Gengar can definately be a real pain in the butt if you don't know how to deal with it. Maybe a good incorporation to your team could be Scizor, which has Bullet Punch and it would help you OHKO it (:

Hi. Looks like you got some interesting synergy going here, but your team has quite a bit of tweaking that needs doing from what I can see.

~Fire Blast > Flamethrower is preferred as it'll be quite a big increase in power, especially as Flamethrower hits quite a bit weaker on Ferrothorn and friends in the rain.
~Adamant > Brave on Conckeldurr. I have no idea why you'd want to be sacking speed for no reason when you're not running any form of special attack.
~I'm assuming you meant to list "Magic Guard" on Sigilyph not "mirror coat"
~Toxic > Ice Beam should be considered on Gastrodon as it's the only way Gastrodon can beat a lot of defensive Pokemon and Pokemon like Rotom-W in the first place.

Also you're lacking EVs on your Ferrothorn, and its also a little questionable, so here is a standard set that may server you better:

Ferrothorn @ Leftovers / Shed shell
Nature @ Relaxed
EVs: 252 HP / 48 Def / 208 SpD
-Spikes / Stealth Rock
-Leech Seed
-Protect / Thunder Wave
-Power Whip / Protect

Good luck!

Have you ever considered using a Choice Scarf Tyranitar in place of Hydreigon? It acts as a check against Lati@s and Thundurus while also assisting you in combating the forces of Sun teams. These are problematic because nothing on your current team will enjoy taking a boosted, STAB attack from Darmanitan or facing off against the standard Chlorophyll sweepers. Crunch, Pursuit, Superpower, and Rock Slide is the appropriate moveset to use along with a Jolly nature and an EV spread of 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd.

sounds interesting oblivion. ill try that out. ive also been considering swapping conkelldur for chandelure as him and hydreigon perfectly cover eachothers weaknesses

You'll definitely want to keep Conkeldurr on your team so that you have a check for Excadrill and Terrakion who would otherwise be able to cut through your team like butter. However, even with the clown they'll be problematic especially with the addition of Tyranitar so another thing that I'm going to suggest is that you replace Sigilyph with Gliscor. It has that same important Fighting-type resistant while only taking neutral damage from Rock-type attacks. Using both SD and Taunt lets you act as both a sweeper and stallbreaker while still maintaining the bulk needed to counter the aforementioned threats. The following EV spread has some extra Speed investment so that you can outspeed opposing Gliscor and hit them with that first crucial Ice Fang attack.

Gliscor @ Toxic Orb l Impish l 244 HP / 176 Def / 88 Spd
Earthquake l Ice Fang l Swords Dance l Taunt
