New team, with patented UmbNoir!

I came up with UmbNoir and now I wanna make a team on it :S

Pain Split
Shadow sneak
Pursuit
Future sight

Pain Split regains health, Shadow sneak for general pwn, Pursuit on the switch and Future sight to hit em' when Umbreon's out.

Pursuit (strong enough?)
Wish
Toxic
Moonlight

Pursuit hits on the switch again, but with 65 base power im not sure it'd do enough damage. Wish heals, and can heal Noir too. Toxic for a main source of damage. Moonlight for general healing.

Well, thats all I have so far :S.

As you may have noticed, their typing means that through switching they can eliminate all their weaknesses. Also, Noir helps Umbreons offence problem with future sight, while umbreon helps Noirs recovery problem with wish.

All I really need is to find out what could counter them, so I can work the rest of my team around that.

Im thinking Lucario, with Acces to fighting and dark/ghost moves could take them out with a little clever prediction. So, what counters lucario? Its very unpredictable :S.

Weavile kills them both... as does heracross. You need will-o-wisp over future sight.... dont run future sight lol. Shadow Sneak isnt really going to be doing any dmg, its really only for the CB set. Dont have two healing moves on umbreon. Replace moonlight with something it sucks in sandstorm and wish is just generally better. Give it mean look or curse. Replace pursuit with Payback, payback + curse is decent... especially with wish support. This combination isnt really all that great.

People need to stop making shitty names for unoriginal and unspectacular pokemon combinations like this one.

Also, those are horrible EV spreads.

What exactly does that do to Fighting Pokémon? Future Sight is treated as neutral for everything if it works like Doom Desire.

You should never ever have an EV spread with evenly split stuff like 128/128. It's just lazy. You obviously didn't do any damage calculations, and if you did, you'd discover that this combination hardly walls anything and hurts even less things. The only thing it actually does accomplish is bringing the red carpet out for your opponent's Pokemon to come in and set up.

I think a cool Dusknoir + Umbreon combination is using Curse + Payback on Umbreon, then if something comes out you can't take, wishpass to Dusknoir who can use Trick Room and hit with the punches.

edit: baton passing I mean from Umbreon

Yup, you can even Put baton pass on umbreon and pass the curses.

they don't cover each other's weaknesses in that threats don't just have one type of attack. The fighting/ghost combo is extremely common and will destroy both these pokemon.

Uh.... this is a shitty combination to be honest. What the hell are they going to do to anyone when the most powerful attack between the two is shadow sneak? Gyarados would love to set up on this combo, Heracross would skullfuck it so hard that they'd have eyes in the backs of their heads.

Maybe all threads that put out a "new" set or combo should require a Moderators approval. This is getting sadder by the day. Today we have a Noctowl wanna-be special wall that handles Breloom (and only Breloom, and thats being nice) and a crappy combo that doesnt really wall anything, and does precisly NO damage to anything.

The idea was terrible and we know that. But some people like Anti or Skribble are trying to improve it and maybe it'll become something usable.

We should try to improve it instead of saying it's shit. I personally think you can create some kind of team with that combination. TR + Curse Pass looks good.

Yeah, I use my Umbreon + Special wall Dusknoir on the same team and it really works. Things like Tauntrados can hurt it even though Dusknoir can take it, though Heracross is a problem. Steelix helps that.

This isn't really a combo as much as two Pokemon with less than effective movesets with a name on it. And yes, people should stop naming their sets/combos/pokemon like this, there's no ground for it at all. Now listen to the above poster and improve the idea.

I don't think that's a great idea. Moderators have enough to do as it is. Plus then we'd be censoring threads from people to discuss, and it stops learning processes etc.

And yes, listen to the above poster. Improve an idea, don't just post how bad it is, especially not when you're just listing one or two Pokemon that screw up the combo.

On a more practical meta-note, why won't someone just write a guide on suggestions? There are some key things that most bad suggestions do, overspecialization (aka, it can only do one thing), useless surprise (Modest 252 Sp. Atk gyarados!), etc. etc. Of course, good suggestions should be noted (damage calculations, etc. etc.) so that newbies can see what a well thought out example is like.

If it was painfully obvious that they didn't read the guide, then mods can infraction the user. Kinda like how the warstory system works right now, except the mods don't have as much of a workload.

I know when I was a newb I made stupid suggestions as well... so I'd imagine such a guide would be useful not only as a posting howto, but as a thinking howto to see what a good sets are like.

if you plan on running that top dusk, definitely make sure you replace future sight with will-o-wisp, as someone already mentioned. i reiterate this to provide this counter: tyranitar eats that dusk for lunch without will-o-wisp. without will-o-wisp your only true option is to switch out, and a lot of cbtars out there use pursuit. i know i do. then your dusknoir is severely crippled if not ohko'd. however, i believe you will survive a pursuit if you stay in and will-o-wisp, and the tar is effectively cb-less.

cheers.
