I have read through the rules of the RMT thread and considered the apprenticeship program, but I do not have a lot of free time in the run of a day and doubt my ability to be able to spend the amount of time expected. I know this team might lack the synergy essential for competitive teams, but I've been working hard raising these Pokemon and I've been winning about 1/3 battles on rated. Still though, I feel like there are some Pokemon that don't belong, and through weeks of battling I'm still left scratching my head as to what the problem is. I used to be into what little competitive play there was in the RBY days but have not been into Pokemon since and find getting out of my 150 Pokemon mindset difficult. This is my team. Advice would be appreciated. I do not have access to a lot of the stronger OU Pokemon like Heatran, Keldeo, Landorus and the like. I am open to replacing multiple Pokemon and to lots of critisism but please try to keep in mind however disjointed this team may be I put a ton of effort into trying to make it work for myself before posting here.
This is Breloom. So far I esentially bring him in when I feel he can outspeed a Pokemon that doesn't take physical hits well. I'm unsure where he belongs other than that, and unsure whether he makes a suitable starter. He has proven to win me many battles, usually sweeping at the end of them.
Breloom @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Seed Bomb
- Mach Punch
- Spore
Skarmory is a Pokemon I'm having trouble figuring out, too. He's great for defending against physical attackers, setting up Stealth Rock and whirlwinding away Pokemon that are trying to set up. I tweak this moveset a lot and haven't fond one I'm entirely happy with yet.
Skarmory @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Speed / 252 Defense
Impish Nature
- Roost
- Toxic
- Whirlwind
- Stealth Rock
I love this Goodra, and it's what I bring in to counter special attackers. Even against STAB ice attacks, she takes very little damage. Great for switching in against a grass Pokemon, too. This is one of the Pokemon on my team I understand very well and would be hesitant to replace.
Goodra @ Assault Vest
Ability: Sap Sipper
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Sp. Def / 252 Sp. Atk
Modest Nature
- Dragon Pulse
- Thunderbolt
- Flamethrower
- Sludge Bomb
I really didn't want to use this Pokemon, but I find it's the most useful physical attacker I can find. Great for other dragons, and for cleaning up the field when there are only a few Pokemon left. Pretty simple stuff here. Not sure how much I like Garchomp, but not sure if there's anything better. Tried Haxorus without nearly as much success.
Garchomp @ Life Orb
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Sp. Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Claw
- Rock Slide
- Earthquake
- Fire Blast
I kind of had it in mind for him to be starter and set up Sticky Web. This works and sometimes doesn't. There are a lot of Pokemon that can get around Sticky Web, his special attack is kind of meh, and Thunder Wave seems kind of redundant. Still, he brings me more wins than my old Jolteon did, so I keep him around until I can find something better, or learn to use him better.
Galvantula @ Focus Sash
Ability: Compound Eyes
EVs: 252 Sp. Atk / 4 Sp. Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Bug Buzz
- Thunder
- Sticky Web
- Thunder Wave
Just a quick special sweeper. I honestly don't use him as much as I thought I would, because the 4X weakness to rock is very frustrating. Sometimes he sweeps whole teams, sometimes he gets 1HKOd on the first turn from someone I really didn't expect to be faster (or something with a focus sash and rock slide). Unsure about how necessary the zard is, but also unsure of a good replacement.
Charizard @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Blaze / Drought
EVs: 252 Sp. Atk / 4 Sp. Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Dragon Pulse
- Flamethrower
- Ancient Power
- Solar Beam
