New to Forum, would appreciate a RMT!

Hi guys well, I was playing on gamefaqs and after about 100 battles I got sick of everyone acting like they are twelve years old and the pokemon master of the century so I have come here to take my battling to what I believe "the next step"

Here is the team I have been using with a fairly high success rate,

Donphan@Life Orb
Sturdy
Adamant
EVs:252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Spe
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Rapid Spin
- Stealth Rock

Donphan's role on the team is to set up rocks and then rapid spin the enemies away for the sake of Salamence and Porygon2. Donphan also has stone edge and Earthquake for good coverage moves that can also really pack a punch with life orb. He has life orb over lum berry because conkeldurr loves to take Will O wisps but when donphan is toxiced it does not bother me to much because he does not have the best survivability being a lead. Sturdy also ensures he can live a turn and set up rocks, also takes no damage from sandstorm which is very useful. Max HP to take physical hits and because donphan is slow

Conkeldurr@Leftovers
Guts
Adamant
Moveset-
Drain Punch
Mach Punch
Payback
Bulk up

I have actually forgot the EVS I put into this Conkeldurr but they are put in the areas of SpD, Atk and some in HP I am sure. This guys purpose is to sponge some special hits and immediatley threaten certain pokemon. Serves as a check to Excadrill and Evolite Chansey and Porygon, can sweep unprepaired teams. Also has guts to absorb will o wisps or possible Paralysis directed at other members of my team.

Alakazam@Focus Sash
Magic Guard
Timid
EVS: 252spA/252spe
Moveset-
Psychic
Shadow Ball
Focus Blast
Hidden Power Fire

This my revenge killer and also someone who can clean up late game, he is always garunteed to get a couple hits in. Hidden power fire is for Ferrothorn and Scizor, especially scizor who after one swords dance can otherwise tear this team a new one. Shadow Ball and Focus blast provide good coverage for this team. Psyshock is not because of Bulk up Conkeldurr and Scrafty.

Salamence@Life orb
Moxie
Naive
EVS:252Spa/252spe
Moveset-
Draco Meteor
Dragon Claw
Flamethrower
Earthquake

This salamence's purpose is to come in on a weakened pokemon, kill them off and get a moxie boost and draco meteor on physical walls who try to put a stop to him. He is used as a mid to late game sweeper, can bait garchomps into using outrage to swtich in porygon to ice beam. Has flamethrower and EQ for coverage.

Porygon@Evolite
Bold
Analytic
EVS:252HP/252Def
Moveset-
Ice Beam
Thunderbolt
Recover
Thunder Wave

This porygon truly is the bread and butter for my team, provides an ice move for my team to hit many dragons who threaten my team, more than anything garchomp, multiscale dragonite, and landorus. Can paralyze many threats like latios/latias which is crucial to my teams survival, allowing Salamence to kill with a dragon claw because most of them, are Calm mind or Specs, mostly calm mind in my experience. His one weakness is covered by the next member of my team.

Slowbro@Leftovers
Regenerator
Bold
EVS:252HP/252Def
Moveset-
Scald
Psychic
Slack Off
Toxic

Slowbro is to counter and fighting pokemon who wants to come in on porygon or set up on my team, Slowbro can immediatley threaten them out with a Psychic, has scald for the burn chance and also a nice water move to compliment my team. Toxic is to win stall wars if someone wants to keep recovering plus my team enjoys having poisoned pokemon. Slack off with regnerator and leftovers give slowbro a very long survivability and can always take a physical hit when needed.

Well that is my team, looking at it I can already see some weaknesses that I was hoping you guys could help me with

-No special wall, I rely on Conkeldurr and mostly Porygon to take Special hits.
-Electric weakness, no one on my team resists it and no one on my team appreciates being hit with it.
-Not many things to counter calm minders, sometimes some pokemon can get a calm mind or two in on a switch and unless porygon can paralyze them it is very hard for me get back in the game.
-Trick, no one on my team likes being tricked except maybe alakazam.
-Rotom W, very common in this gen and I have no grass move to hit it SE, Conkeldurr and porygon are also found fighting this threat again.

I guess this team would classify as a DW team so If I am unaware of any common threats that are in the DW tier I have not seen because I was battling children on gamefaqs please give me notice, I believe a team can only get better.

Well thanks for reading this if anyone could give me some help on this team I would really appreciate it as this has taken me a long time to write. If you want to see two gamefaqs topics that will make you laugh also ask me, thanks.

I think you should make Porygon2 specially defensive, as Slowbro is already physically defensive. This balance helps a lot, and specially defensive Porygon is a beast at taking hits.

Personally, I always use life orb on Alakazam, as the free 1.3x boost ia huge. However, if you need sash to take Scizor's +2 bullet punch, keep sash.

Yes I was also considering that as alakzam usually does need the boost in some cases, calm mind suicune was on the team before slowbro though so another physical tank was not on the team. I am not sure slowbro can take a +2 pursuit from a scizor, probably but some people will set up a swords dance because they know the pokemon I have out cannot 1hko and I get some weird like swords dance/roost variant spD version and salamence cannot take a +2 bullet punch.

Maybe I need to play better in that department but I would be open to a different lead who can set set up rocks and do the things infernape can do but possibly benefit this team better.

I am open to any suggestions to anyone on my team.

i really like this team aside from the fact you lack a nice bulky ground/rock type...i dunno, it just seems like all the best teams usually have one. a gliscor looks like it might fit in nicely to your team as it would be good to switch in to an electric attack.

Gliscor@ toxic orb
- Substitute
- Protect / Taunt
- Toxic
- Earthquake

ability: Poison Heal
nature: Jolly
Evs: 252 HP / 40 Def / 216 Spe

another possibility would be an anti lead donphan;

- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Rapid Spin
- Ice Shard/Stealth Rock
item: Life Orb/Lum Berry
nature: Adamant
evs:252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Spe

you can see the set with a bit more detail here;

hope i was of some help :3

I really do like that donphan as a lead actually, I really do. I think I will be running stealth rocks over ice shard because I need Stealth rocks up for this team to work how it should. I Never thought of Donphan at all actually, preforming as an anti lead who can set up rocks and spin them away himself, very nice.

Thank you a lot for that set, really helps, also I am not sure what to do about porygon because he needs to stay on the team but slowbro is exclusively physical.

I was thinking of taking scald out and putting ice beam for dragons like garchomp to 0HKO them and also allows porygon to be able to invest more in special defense.

For porygon would going 252HP/252spD be the best option is there some way I can fit in more defense EVs without actually losing anything useful?

Thanks

Well without making any major changes, I might suggest swapping Slowbro for Slowking. Basically, Porygon2 and Slowbro are preforming similar roles (both Bold 252 HP & Def, Status, Recovery moves), yet you don’t have any sort of special wall - for which Slowking could basically work. Otherwise, Blissey (but not Stoned-Chansey) could work if you wanted to swap out the Porygon2.
Also, Grass Knot could replace Thunderpunch on Infernape, which still deals decent damage Jellicent and Suicune before to many Calm Minds (seeing as they’re generally max hp / max defense) - and also allows to you hit Swampert, Hippowdon, and Rotom-W as you mentioned you don’t really have anything for that.

That is true however here is what I was thinking, donphan as a new lead with the set listed above which will provide better all around coverage for me team. Slowbro stays the same because his main purpose is to take fighting types, a lot of the special moves he does not like to take are now completely covered by the rest of my team.

Electric-Donphan can now help.
Bug-Donphan can also help in this department, not as good as infernape though. Conkeldurr also covers.
Grass-Salamence with flamethrower can take care of this, I find my team to be grass weak but I find the meta to be short of grass pokes beside breloom.
Ghost-Covered by Porygon.
Dark-Conkeldurr

After this change I make porygon more specially defensive with the same moveset and everything else the same.

The other thing I was debating was to put energy ball on Alakazam for Rotom W and the rest of the gang who give my team the most problems out of pretty much anyone else.

Psychic is needed for Fighting types obv,Focus blast is only really used for Bulk Up scrafty or tyranitar, but tyranitar is also easily countered by my conkeldurr. Hippen Power fire is needed for this set and is very helpful, I find shadow ball to be only usefull for Latios, and other psychic pokemon, also slowbro.

Opinions on this I am very unsure about my Alakazam, will update the team.
