New UU FTW!!!

Hey, no-one knows who I am but this is my second RMT :toast:. I adore new UU and have found it much more enjoyable. On shoddy, not many use pure UU teams and this team still finds the time to pulverize. So, here goes.

Team at a glance:

In detail:

006Charizard.png

Item: Salac Berry
Nature: Jolly
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 6 HP/ 252 Atk/ 252 Spe
Moves:
Fire Punch
Belly Drum
Earthquake
Endure

Standard Bellyzard. Absolutely brilliant despite living in an OU infested world. After the Salac boost it hits 492 speed, which outspeeds everything in the game except Deoxys-S. With Blaze and STAB factored in Fire punch has 168 Base power (rounding down). Coming off 801 Attack after belly drum hurts anything. One problem I have is not being able to OHKO Hippowdon or even the seldom seen Blastoise. Used as an initial sweeper to get me straight off the mark.

Item: Razor Claw
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Super Luck
EVs: 180 HP/ 252 Atk/ 78 Spe
Moves:
Superpower
Drill Peck
Sucker Punch
Night Slash

Based around the wonder of crithax, the big boss pokemon is only here because it is one of my favourites. Completely replaceable. Mainly used to take out Gengars etc, although sometimes I find Meganium does a better job. Thinking of replacing this with a bulky water because this team is Aerodactyl weak (now how often do you hear that?). Milotic, Gastrodon, even Hariyama are all valid replacements.

257Blaziken.png

Item: Choice Scarf
Nature: Mild
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 102 Atk/ 196 Sp.Atk/ 212 Spe
Moves:
Thunderpunch
Superpower
Fire Blast
HP (Ice)

Ahh, Blaziken. The single most underrated starter of all time. This pokemon is a killer. With a Choice Scarf it outspeeds and kills whatever I keep it in on. Mix Blaziken because it makes it hard for the opponent to choose a counter. Anything that does outpeed me is often not bulky enough to take a hit and even if they are, chances are they'll be KO'ed next turn.

237Hitmontop.png

Item: Leftovers
Nature: Impish
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 198 HP/ 64 Atk/ 72 Def/ 56 Sp.Def/ 120 Spe
Moves:
Stone Edge
Toxic
Close Combat
Rapid Spin

Hitmontop is one of the reasons I last as long as I do. Intimidate is such a brilliant ability for a defensive pokemon like this. With these EVs, he is only 2HKO'ed, even by STABed moves, so long as they aren't Super Effective. He is only 3HKO'ed by an average Gengar's Shadow Ball (eg, non Choice Specs). The reason he isn't bothered by Toxic Spikes is because he is backed up by Meganium (hint, hint :naughty:).

334Altaria.png

Item: Leftovers
Nature: Calm
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 198 HP/ 198 Def/ 58 Sp.Atk/ 56 Sp.Def
Moves:
Roost
Flamethrower
Toxic
Dragon Pulse

Altaria, staller of the month, annoyer of UU, etc. This thing has helped me stall against a Blissey and a Hippowdon for around 20 turns. It can do it's job early game, mid-game or even late game, where it can clean up the oppositon with Toxic and Roost. Dragon pulse for Stab, Flamethrower for coverage and with this combo, it hits everything in the game for at least neutral damage, so it isn't really walled by anything.

154Meganium.png

Item: Leftovers
Nature: Bold
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 216 HP/ 120 Def/ 104 Sp.Atk/ 70 Sp.Def
Moves:
Energy Ball
Leech Seed
Aromatherapy
Light Screen

Meganium is sexy. Sexy body-wise and sexy in what she does. Seeing her kill a Gengar or leech seed an Aerodactyl really gets me hot. Anyway, back to reality, she is really good at what she does and my best Aero counter as they never carry flying moves anyway. She gives the team general support. The member she most help out is Hitmontop, healing him after he blows away the toxic spikes. After a Light Screen and Hitmontops Intimidate, almost nothing can touch us. Great team supporter.

Tear this team apart as you rate, hate, or basically do whatever the hell you want :toast:.

All credit to bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net for the sprites.

Bellyzard isn't that great of a lead in the new UU imo. The abundance of Priority users/scarfers/taunters is too great to use effectively. I think Bellyzard should stay on the team but as more of a late-game sweeper. Honchkrow could take its place as it makes a great lead with Sucker Punch/Pursuit mindgames. Pursuit should go over either Drill Peck or Night Slash as Superpower is almost mandatory to cover steels. Also Focus sash>Razor Claw.

I don't see why Meganium is on your team when Shaymin outclasses it in almost every way. It can run the exact same set but with more HP, Special attack, and Speed. Also, your defensive core (Meganium/Shaymin, Altaria, and Hitmontop) are all 1-2HKOed by a specs Glaceon's Ice beam. A Milotic would fit your team well, giving your sweepers free switch-ins by sleeping switch-ins. This team would be great on the new UU ladder, as it's up now!

Hope I helped. :D

Thanks for the help but with the abundance of stealth rock charizard wouldn't last long. Will add Shaymin. Wondering who to replace with Milotic. Can anyone help. Thanks again.

You could replace Altaria for Milotic.
Milotic is just all around better than Altaria. I've never gotten much success out of Altaria tho.

Shaymin doesn't learn Light screen so what should i give it? So far the moveset is:
Aromatherapy
Energy Ball/ Seed Flare
Leech Seed
?

Ok, will test Milotic instead of Altaria

That's why you have a spinner! If spin blockers become abundant, then replace Toxic on Hitmontop with Foresight.

Oh sorry lol. I'd recommend either rest or sythesis on shaymin, as it needs recovery to keep up with the hard-hitters of UU.

And yes I meant Milotic over Altaria.

As other people have picked up on, don't lead with BellyZard, you are unlikely to get the set-up in the first turn especially as 90% of leads these days carry Taunt, either Froslass or Crobat will easily shut it down, sure, you can Fire Punch the Froslass, but that prediction could go both ways, you don't really want to be in that situation, so what do I suggest. Get rid of it, get something that will actually do something as a lead, I'm going to suggest Crobat here, it's probably the best UU lead at the moment and will allow you to get some decent set up, and will shut down other common UU lead, so heres the set:

Crobat @ Leftovers / Lum Berry
Jolly Nature / Inner Focus
EVs: 104 HP / 152 Atk / 252 Spe
~ Taunt
~ Brave Bird
~ Roost
~ U-Turn

Leftovers is a decent item for general recovery, but Lum Berry works well, it means that against Scarf Roserade leads you can get over the Sleep and then either Taunt it, and you turn out on the switch or you can simply Brave Bird and end it there. Brave Bird is a nice powerful move and it's side effects are made up for in the from of Roost, U-Turn on predicted switches etc... Pretty simple, yet effective lead that will help get your team off on the right footing.

Also, do what dragonite says and change Megainum to Shaymin, it can run completely the same set, but has a better HP and SpA stat to pull it off with. Still in old UU mindset I see ^_^ I also don't see why you're talking about Aerodactyl or Gengar either, this is new UU >_> but oh well. Staliing against Blissey / Hippowdon? I suggest you either play this team in UU and treat it as a UU Team Rate, or don't post this team for serious use in OU, it is against Smogon's philosophy, and using UUs in OU doesn't nessecarily make you "cool." Go with Earth Power or Substitute in the last slot on Shaymin.

You are a little Raikou weak, anyone intelligant enough to carry signal Beam will make short work of your team so, why don't you run a Registeel over Honchkrow, it can also provide you with handy paralysis or Toxic support should you need it, and it willset up Stealth Rock for you as well. Blaziken can revenge Raikou, but it's not something that I would want to rely on, so the standard EVs on the analysis will do with the moveset of Stealth Rock / Toxic or Thunder Wave / Iron Head / Earthquake, I prefer that combination of moves because it provides nice cooverage against both Mismagius and Rikou, not allowing either to set up, which is pretty handy.

I'm not really sure what else to say, it could be pretty tired or it could be becuase your team seems to lack a direction, its more just a lump of Pokemon mushed together rather than a cohesive unit, if you could give us a little more idea of how you play this team, or what the general plan going into a game is I guess that would help a lot, this will be all for now, but I'll be sure to check back ^_^

Ok, will use crobat and registeel. I'm not trying to look 'cool', its just i don't know if there is a place for just UU. I know there is on 'unrated' but no-one is ever on it. The strategy was mainly offence but appears to have changed to a half stall-half offence team :toast:.

You can find new UU on the ladder on the Smogon University Shoddy Battle server. Click on the find tab, Ladder, and then click the drop down box and select overused, that should do it for you. You then click find match. This is because the ladder is now being used for the new UU testing, not the old UU, which has been completely scrapped, so you should be able to play with this team to your hearts content ^_^

That Crobat Lead is not what I would suggest at all. His team is weak to Stealth Rocks as it is, what he needs to do is remove the Flying-types. It also is very weak late game and easily walled.

Your team seems to really lack focus. You carry two Pokémon, both of whom are easily countered, who can attack, and the rest seem more stall-oriented. Problem is, you have no way to stall effectively, since you have no indirect damage or phazing. I also really don't see how Meganium helps against TSpikes, since even though Aromatherapy clears away the condition once, it will still be there next time Hitmontop switches in. I would suggest perhaps Roserade as a Sleeper/TSpikes absorber, with Leaf Storm for offense. Your team also doesn't like CM Raikou, since you lack a single Ground attack to KO it besides Charizard. Perhaps include Registeel as suggested. I would offer this set:

Registeel @ Leftovers
Careful, 252 HP/6 ATK/ 252 SpDef
-Curse
-Earthquake
-Ice Punch/Explosion
-Thunder Wave/Hammer Arm

While it probably won't jump in and sweep your opponents ten times out of ten, replacing Honchkrow with this would probably help your team offensively and defensively. I would also recomment replacing Charizard with Claydol, to absorb Fighting and Electric attacks (and to set up Stealth Rock).

To recap:
1. Replace Meganium with Roserade
2. Replace Honchkrow with Registeel
3. Replace Charizard with Claydol

Your team is slightly more fire-weak now, but Altaria and Blaziken should be able to handle that.

I hope my comments helped.

Quite a rate thanks man. Will take your advice but already decided set for Regi. Will test yours tho. Altaria has already been replaced (with milotic) and will chuck Bellyzard. Thanks again.
