GP CHECK : Kris

[OVERVIEW]

* Nidoking has great coverage options that let it hit common bulky Pokemon such as Toxapex, Alolan Marowak, Tapu Fini, and Alolan Muk for super effective damage.
* Access to the ability Sheer Force, which boosts moves with secondary effects while negating Life Orb recoil when using said moves allows it to be a potent wallbreaker.
* Nidoking can check Fairy- and Electric-types such a Tapu Koko, Tapu Bulu, and Magnezone, which are some of the major offensive threats in the tier.
* Nidoking has a niche of having a great defensive Ground/Poison typing that lets it check multiple Pokemon while also being immune to common status conditions like Toxic and Thunder Wave, which is difficult to find in most Pokemon in the metagame.
* Unfortunately, it is frail and has mediocre Speed, leaving it outsped and easily revenge killed by faster threats like Greninja, Garchomp, Tapu Lele, Pheromosa, Latios, and Latias.
* Nidoking faces tough competition because there are stronger and faster Pokemon that can wallbreak as well such as Hoopa-U and Kyurem-B.

Moves
========

* Earth Power is Nidoking's primary STAB move, which is boosted by Sheer Force and hits Steel-types like Magnezone, Heatran, and Magearna for super effective damage.
* Sludge Wave is its main Poison-type STAB move, which allows it to OHKO Fairy-types like Clefable, Tapu Koko, Tapu Bulu, Tapu Lele, Tapu Fini, Sylveon, as well as Mimikyu that has its disguise broken for an easy OHKO, and is also boosted by Sheer Force too.
* Ice Beam allows Nidoking to hit bulky Ground-types and lets it OHKO bulky Landorus-T, Garchomp, and Zygarde, as well as 2HKOing Hippowdon.
* Flamethrower allows Nidoking to hit certain Steel-types such as Ferrothorn, Mega Scizor, Skarmory, and Celesteela for super effective damage.
* Fire Blast is also an option over Flamethrower for more power in exchange for an accuracy drop to 85%. This lets Nidoking 2HKO specially defensive Celesteela.

Set Details
========

* Maximum investment in Special Attack ensures maximum power output from Nidoking.
* A Timid nature allows Nidoking to outspeed Dragonite, Tapu Bulu, Breloom, neutral-natured Kyurem-B, and support Heatran, as well as speed tying with other positive-natured base 85 Speed Pokemon.
* Sheer Force negates the secondary effects of Nidoking's moves and Life Orb recoil in exchange for a massive boost in Base Power.
* Nidoking prefers to be specially offensive, since its STAB moves and coverage moves that get boosted by Sheer Force are special.

Usage Tips
========

* Use Pokemon with Volt Switch and U-turn to bring Nidoking in against opposing teams, since it's hard to switch in against most Pokemon in the metagame.
* Against bulky and slow teams, use Nidoking's power and insane coverage to plow through the opposing team's bulky core.
* Prediction is key when facing faster teams with Nidoking. For example, using Ice Beam predicting against Heatran when the opponent has a Landorus-T or Latios because they'll switch in a non-grounded Pokemon to avoid Earth Power.
* Nidoking can switch in on weaker moves from attackers such as Giga Drain from Amoonguss, Moonblast from Clefable, and predicted status moves that it's immune to and threaten back.

Team Options
========

* VoltTurn cores work great with Nidoking, since they can switch it in safely, as it is pretty hard to directly switch it into moves due to its lack of decent bulk. Bulky U-turn Landorus-T, alongside Tornadus-T can pivot Nidoking in safely. Electric-types that can pivot like Rotom-W, Tapu Koko, and Raikou are good partners to Nidoking as well.
* Tapu Lele pairs well with Nidoking, since its ability summons Psychic Terrain which stops priority moves. It also resists Psychic-type attacks, and Choice Scarf sets can take out fast attackers that would normally revenge KO Nidoking.
* Offensive Pokemon like Mega Alakazam, Weavile, Bisharp, Latios, Mega Scizor, Genesect, Breloom, and Azumarill pair up well with Nidoking, as they can help apply pressure against fast offensive teams.
* Fighting types like Keldeo, Pheromosa, and Terrakion are great partners, as Nidoking is easily walled by Chansey and specially defensive Pokemon, while Fighting-types also appreciate Nidoking applying pressure against slow, bulky Fairy- and Ground-types.
* Alolan Ninetales can firmly stop rain teams with its ability Snow Warning, and it can also use Aurora Veil to help Nidoking sponge hits. Tyranitar can work almost equally as good while also being able to trap Pokemon such as Latias, Latios, Tapu Lele, and Chansey if it is a Choice Band set, pairing well with Nidoking.
* Ferrothorn and Landorus-T can pair up to form an entry hazard-stacking duo while Ferrothorn can also help against rain teams, which Nidoking struggles against.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

* Nidoking has access to Stealth Rock and Toxic Spikes, but most of the time, it needs the fourth move slot to be filled for coverage.
* Choice Scarf is another option that lets Nidoking perform better against offensive teams than the Life Orb set, but it decreases it's power output to a point where it loses the role of a wallbreaker.
* Substitute + three attacks is also a decent set to run on Nidoking, but at most times, it is better off having the fourth coverage move.
* Thunderbolt can be run so Nidoking can hit primarily Mantine, which otherwise walls it while also being able to hit Celesteela and Skarmory for super effective damage.
* With 16 Attack EVs, Sucker Punch can be carried for priority, which lets Nidoking get surprise KOs against Pokemon like Alakazam and Gengar as they attempt to revenge kill Nidoking.
* Superpower can be run to catch Chansey off guard and deal heavy damage. Unfortunately, it would have to invest a lot in Attack to be worthwhile.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Faster Pokemon**: Pokemon such as Pheromosa, Tornadus-T, Greninja, Weavile, Manaphy, Excadrill, Keldeo, Tapu Lele, Genesect, and Zygarde-10% are all able to heavily damage Nidoking if not OHKO it.

**Dugtrio**: Dugtrio is the best check to Nidoking, since Arena Trap stops Nidoking from switching out, and it gets OHKOed by STAB Earthquake.

**Psychic-types**: Pokemon such as Tapu Lele, Mega Alakazam, Mega Metagross, Starmie, Latios, Latias, and Necrozma can easily OHKO Nidoking. However, Sucker Punch Nidoking can OHKO Mega Alakazam and catch it off guard while most of the aforementioned Pokemon struggle in switching into Nidoking, except for Latias.

**Bulky Pokemon**: Specially Defensive Pokemon like Chansey and Mantine can easily wall Nidoking. Though, if carrying Thunderbolt, Mantine will no longer be able to counter.

**Water-Types**: Fast Water-types such as Pelipper, Starmie, Greninja, Manaphy, Kingdra, and Keldeo can outspeed Nidoking and OHKO it while Choice Band Azumarill can OHKO it with Aqua Jet. However, none of them can switch in against Nidoking.

In Overview:

-Weak to Priority users.

In OO:

-Nidoking can run Superpower to deal Chansey... with more Atk investment.

In Counters and Checks:

- Priority users as Azumarill, Weavile... can make a lot of dmg to Nidoking and make it eassier to Revenge Kill.

In Team Options:

- Add U-turn near to Volt Switch.
- Some Dark or Ghost Pokemon that can deal with Psychic types can help Nidoking to weak its counters.

I would definitely recommend Substitute in OO. The nice thing about Nidoking is its ability to force switches against bulkier teams and even with just STABs+Ice Beam, youre hitting a large portion of the meta and it helps a ton to alleviate prediction which Nidoking is largely reliant on when it comes to 4 Attacks. A worthy option in OO if your team has Skarm/Celesteela/Mantine covered for whatever 4th coverage move you'd put Substitute over.

Mega Manectric and Mega Lopunny are illegal and therefore should not be listed anywhere

Sucker probably shouldn't be run specifically for Gengar since it's so uncommon in this meta without Levitate, and while it holds merit for Megazam and Latios it seems OO worthy to me + Nido already suffers 4MSS as it is

Fixing that right away, Thank You!

The QC team discussed and I agree myself, that there is little to no reason to run Nidoking at all in the current metagame when Landorus completely eclipses it in its role. A Fairy resist and STAB Sludge Wave is not enough to make up for all the downsides this Pokemon has by comparison.

Locking.

Tapu Lele makes a good teammate with its ability to stop priority and resistance to Psychic-type moves, and scarfed variants can easily take out faster attackers that would normally easily revenge Nidoking. Alolan Ninetales provides a firm stop to any Rain team, and can help Nidoking sponge hits with Aurora Veil support. I would also mention how great Nidoking is against stall teams once Chansey / Mantine are removed, as it is immune to Toxic and Thunder Wave thanks to its good defensive typing, won't be worn down by Life Orb recoil due to Sheer Force, and has amazing coverage that can hit for supereffective damage on many common bulky Pokemon such as Toxapex and Alolan Marowak.

Thunderbolt is a vastly inferior option to Flamethrower, as it really only hits Water-types that are already hit hard by Sludge Wave or Earth Power with the exception of Mantine. I would move it to Other Options, as you really need the coverage from a Fire-type move in order to break through Mega Scizor and Ferrothorn. Fire Blast should be mentioned instead in the Moves section as a more powerful albeit less accurate Fire-type move.

Mention Pelipper in Checks and Counters as it can switch into anything but Sludge Wave and Thunderbolt and proceed to set up rain and OHKO with Scald. A brief explanation of why Nidoking is better off with a special set rather than a physical set despite its higher Attack stat could be nice to include, although not altogether necessary.

Implemented the changes, I understand Fire Blast provides more power but after doing a few damage calcs i found that the only scenario where Fire Blast comes in clutch for Nidoking is when it's facing a 252hp/252spdef/+spdef natured Celesteela which does not get 2HKOed by Flamethrower. I guess Im missing something, so I implemented that too.
Here are the two calcs :]
252 SpA Life Orb Sheer Force Nidoking Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Celesteela: 218-257 (54.7 - 64.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

252 SpA Life Orb Sheer Force Nidoking Flamethrower vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Celesteela: 177-211 (44.4 - 53%) -- 0.4% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

* Flamethrower allows Nidoking to hit certain steel types such as Ferrothorn, Mega-Scizor, Skarmory and Celesteela for super effective damage.
* Fire Blast over Flamethrower is also an option for more power in exchange to an accuracy drop to 85%. what are the benefits to running fire blast to flamethrower?

Set Details
========
* Full investment in Special Attack to ensure maximum power output from Nidoking.
* Positive speed nature to outspeed Adamant Sand Excadrill, Bulky Garchomp, and support Heatran as well as speed tieing with other base 85 positive-natured Pokemon in the game. i hope people still dont use adamant driller, replace with some threats like dnite / fini / bulu / loom
* Sheer Force, while negating secondary effects of a move, does give it a massive boost.
* Life Orb recoil also neglected due to Sheer Force.
* There are very few viable Special Defense walls that can take hits from Nidoking. As a result, a specially offensive set is preferred over a physical one. special nidoking is better because of sheer force, not because of less walls that can take it on specially.

Also can check fighting types like loom.
* Unfortunately, it is frail and has mediocre speed, leaving it outsped by faster threats like Greninja, Garchomp, Tapu Lele, Latios, and Latias. mention here how its speed let it down for its wallbreaker capabilities
* Weak to priority users such as Genesect, Greninja and Azumarill.
* Faces tough competition because there are stronger and faster Pokemon that can wall break as well such as Kyurem-Black and Hoopa-Unbound. invert the pokemon so it matches with stronger and faster. mention hoopa first then kyub as hoopa is stronger but slow than nido but kyub is faster.
*mention how nidoking can be versatile with its movepool, like running tbolt for bulky waters or sub as it force switches, not to mention running spower for chansey or suckerpunch for faster threats like latios or kazam. this sentence probably resume in "suffer a 4 moves slot syndrome"

Nidoking's defenses aren't low enough to a point where it can get picked off by Genesect's ExtremeSpeed (or from Scizor's Bullet Punch for that matter) and Greninja/Weavile already outspeed it and knock it out with their STAB. "Weak to priority" is not a weakness I would currently ascribe to Nidoking (though that could change if Mamoswine and Azumarill were to become more common).

Other than that, I have no complaints. This is a really solid analysis

* Fire Blast is also an option over Flamethrower is also an option for more power in exchange to for an accuracy drop to 85%. This lets Nidoking 2HKO specially defensive Celesteela having maximum investment in HP and Special Defense.

* Full Maximum investment in Special Attack to ensure ensures maximum power output from Nidoking.
* Positive speed A Timid nature allows Nidoking to outspeed Dragonite, Tapu-Bulu Tapu Bulu, Breloom, neutral Speed neutral-natured Kyurem-B, and support Heatran, (AC) as well as speed tieing tying with other positive-natured base 85 positive-natured Speed Pokemon in the game.
* Sheer Force negates the secondary effects of Nidoking's moves and Life Orb recoil in exchange for a massive boost in Base Power, (RC) while negating secondary effects of a move, does give it a massive boost.
* Life Orb recoil also neglected due to Sheer Force. (RP)

* Nidoking prefers to be specially offensive, (AC) on the special side since its STAB and coverage moves, (RC) as well as coverage moves that get boosted by Sheer Force, (RC) are special.

Usage Tips
========
(add blank line)
* Use Pokemon with Volt Switch and U-turn to bring Nidoking in against opposing teams, (AC) since its it's hard to switchin switch in against most Pokemon in the metagame.
* Against bulky and slow teams, use Nidoking's power and its insane coverage to plow through the opposing team's bulky core.
* Prediction is key when facing faster teams with Nidoking. (add space) For example, using Ice Beam against Heatran when the opponent has a Landorus-T or Latios because they'll switch in a non-grounded Pokemon to avoid Earth Power Landorus-T or Latios as your opponent switches in to avoid Earth Power from hitting the opposing Heatran.
* Nidoking can switch in on weaker moves from attackers such as Giga Drain from Amoonguss, Moonblast from Clefable, and predicted status moves that it's immune to or immune moves and threaten back.

Team Options
========
(add blank line)
* Volt-Turn VoltTurn cores work great with Nidoking, (AC) since they can switch it in Nidoking safely, (AC) as it is pretty hard to directly switch it into moves due to its lack of decent bulk. U-Turn Bulky Landorus-Therian Bulky U-turn Landorus-T, alongside Assault Vest Tornadus-Therian Tornadus-T can pivot Nidoking in Nidoking safely. (add space) Electric-types that can pivot like Rotom-Wash, Tapu-Koko Rotom-W, Tapu Koko, and Raikou are good partners to Nidoking as well.
* Tapu-Lele Tapu Lele pairs well with Nidoking, (AC) since its ability summons Psychic Terrain, which stops can stop priority moves. It also resists Psychic-type attacks, (AC) and while Choice Scarf sets can take out fast attackers that would normally revenge KO Nidoking.
* Offensive Pokemon like Mega Alakazam, Weavile, Bisharp, Latios, Mega-Scizor Mega Scizor, Genesect, Breloom, and Azumarill pair up well with Nidoking, (AC) as they can help apply pressure against fast offensive teams.
* Fighting types like Keldeo, Pheramosa Pheromosa, (AC) and Terrakion are great partners, (AC) as Nidoking is easily walled by Chansey and specially defensive Pokemon, while Fighting-types also appreciate Nidoking applying pressure against slow, fatter Fairy bulky Fairy- and Ground-types.
* Ninetales-Alola Alolan Ninetales can firmly stop rain teams with its ability Snow Warning, (AC) and it can also use Aurora Veil to help Nidoking sponge hits. Tyranitar can work almost equally as good while, (RC) also being able to trap Pokemon such as Latias, Latios, Tapu-Lele Tapu Lele, and Chansey if it is a Choice Band set, pairing well with Nidoking.
* Ferrothorn and Landorus-T can pair up to form a an entry hazard stacking hazard-stacking duo while Ferrothorn can also help against rain teams,(AC) which Nidoking struggles against.

Other Options
=============
(add blank line)
* Nidoking has access to Stealth Rocks Rock and Toxic Spikes, (AC) but most of the time, it needs the 4th move slot fourth moveslot to be filled for coverage.
* Choice Scarf is another option that lets Nidoking perform better against offensive teams than the Life Orb set, (AC) but it decreases it's Nidoking's power output to a point where it loses the ability role of a wall breaker wallbreaker.
* Substitute along with 3 attacks + three attacks is also a decent set to run on Nidoking, (AC) but at most times, it is better off having the 4th fourth coverage move.
* Thunderbolt can be run so that Nidoking can hit primarily Mantine, (AC) which otherwise walls it while also being able to hit Celesteela, (RC) and Skarmory for super effective damage.
* With 16 Attack EVs, Sucker Punch can be carried for priority, (AC) which lets Nidoking get surprise KOs against Pokemon like Alakazam, (RC) and Gengar as they attempt to revenge KO kill Nidoking.
* Superpower can be run to catch Chansey off-guard off guard and do deal heavy damage. Unfortunately, it would have to invest a lot in Physical Attack to be worthwhile. (AP)

Checks and Counters
===================

**Faster Pokemon**: Pokemon such as Pheramosa, Tornadus-Therian Pheromosa, Tornadus-T, Greninja, Weavile, Manaphy, Excadrill, Keldeo, Tapu-Lele Tapu Lele, Genesect, and Zygarde-10% are all able to heavily damage Nidoking if not OHKO it.

**Dugtrio**: Dugtrio is the best check to Nidoking, (AC) since Arena Trap stops Nidoking from switching out, (AC) and it gets revenge OHKOed by STAB Earthquake.

**Psychic Types Psychic-types**: Pokemon such as Tapu-Lele, Mega-Alakazam, Mega-Metagross Tapu Lele, Mega Alakazam, Mega Metagross, Starmie, Latios, Latias, and Necrozma can easily OHKO Nidoking. However, Sucker Punch Nidoking can OHKO Mega-Alakazam Mega Alakazam and catch it off guard while most of the aforementioned Pokemon struggle in switching into Nidoking, except for Latias.

**Bulky Pokemon**: Specially defensive Pokemon like Chansey and Mantine can easily wall Nidoking. Though, if carrying Thunderbolt, Mantine will no longer be able to counter.

**Water-types**: Fast Water-types such as Pelliper Pelipper, Starmie, Greninja, Manaphy, Kingdra, and Keldeo can outspeed Nidoking and OHKO it while Choice Banded Band Azumarill can actually OHKO it with Aqua Jet. However, none of them can actually switch in against Nidoking, (RC) making them only a check to it.

GP 1/1

Please read our standards while writing your analyses, it makes it a lot easier for the GP team to check your analysis if there are less silly errors.
[OVERVIEW]

* Nidoking has great coverage options that let it hit common bulky Pokemon such as Toxapex, Marowak-Alola Alolan Marowak, Tapu-Fini Tapu Fini, Muk-Alola and Alolan Muk for super effective damage.
* Access to the ability Sheer Force, (AC) which boosts moves with secondary effects while negating Life Orb recoil when using said moves allows it to be a potent wall breaker wallbreaker.
* Nidoking can check Fairy- (AH) and Electric-types such a Tapu-Koko as Tapu Koko, Tapu-Bulu Tapu Bulu, and Magnezone, which are some of the major offensive threats the tier.
* Nidoking has a niche of having a great defensive Ground / Poison typing that typings in Ground and Poison which, (RC) lets it check multiple Pokemon whilst while also being immune to common status conditions like Toxic and Thunder Wave, things that are which is difficult to come find in most Pokemon in the metagame.
* Unfortunately, it is frail and has mediocre Speed, leaving it outsped and easily revenge killed by faster threats like Greninja, Garchomp, Tapu Lele, Pheramosa Pheromosa, Latios, and Latias who can all revenge KO Nidoking easily.
* Nidoking faces tough competition because there are stronger or and faster Pokemon that can wall break wallbreak as well such as Hoopa-Unbound or Kyurem-Black Hoopa-U and Kyurem-B.

My apologies, should have given it a final read. This will be done in less than 1/2 an hour.

I really don't think flamethrower is the choice here - I believe fire blast should be the primary choice. The power boost to fire blast is very relevant this generation against at least Buzzwole and Celesteela, so I think that's a better option. It made sense last generation, but that's because the power boost didn't do anything, it does now. These two are more prevalent than the other steels anyways.

^I don't agree on that point still because Buzzwole is dying to Flamethrower after rocks anyways (that's assuming Roost too) and the PP can be a pain in the ass when Celesteela can stall it out a little between Protect and pivoting to another teammate. It's fine in moves.

With that said, this is uploaded.
