- Nidoqueen has carved itself a niche in UnderUsed as both a hazard setter and a pivot, being able to reliably check a plethora of powerful pokemon while also keeping hazards up with its Sheer Force boosted attacks.
- Nidoqueens near exclusive typing in Poison and Ground allows it to easily switch into threatening pokemon such as Infernape and Mega Manectric, because of Nidoqueens fighting resistance and electric immunity respectively. As a hazard setter, this is important as its able to easily set stealth rocks in front of these prominent threats.
- What sets Nidoqueen apart from other ground type hazard setters in the tier is its impressive offensive capabilities. Nidoqueens expansive movepool mixed with the ability Sheer Force allows it to threaten hazard removers with massive damage.
- While Nidoqueens primary usage is of a defensive hazard setter, it can also play a much more offensive role. Bulky Nidoqueen is much more capable of checking offensive threats such as Cobalion and Zeraora, but it can hardly harm walls such as Hippowdon and Blissey. Offensive Nidoqueen, however, Is much more capable of taking on Hippowdon and Alomomola thanks to its added power. However, this varient of Nidoqueen is less reliable as a blanket check due to its complete lack of recovery.
- While Nidoqueens typing is seen as a blessing, it is also a curse because of its weaknesses to common offensive typings such as psychic and ground, making it weak to threatening pokemon such as Celebi, Latias, and Nidoking. These problems are amplified by its low speed and its lack of significant recovery.
- As a ground type, it faces significant competition from other ground types such as Mega Steelix, Hippowdon, and Nidoking. Mega Steelix has an important resistance to psychic, Hippowdon is bulkier with reliable recovery, while Nidoking is able to take a much more offensive role due to its higher speed and attacking stats.

Moves
========
- Stealth Rocks is used to take advantage of Nidoqueens ability to force out certain pokemon and set hazards.
- Ice Beam is used to pressure Togekiss and Gligar, pokemon that would threaten to defog away hazards.
- Earth Power is a STAB move boosted by sheer force, allowing it to heavily dent pokemon such as Mega Aggron and Cobalion.
- Sludge Wave is a powerful secondary stab, allowing it to hit Sylveon and Mega Altaria for massive damage.
========
- Defensive Nidoqueen runs 76 speed EVs to be able to outspeed standard Gligar sets.
- Nidoqueen runs maximum HP investment along with 108 defensive EVs and Bold nature to more comfortably check fighting-types in the tier.
- This set runs 72 special defense EVs to be able to take a +2 Fire Blast from Infernape.
- Black Sludge is used to provide Nidoqueen with passive recovery and prevent it from being worn down.
- Nidoqueen's ability Sheer Force provides a nice boost in power, allowing it to pressure pokemon easier.
========
- Nidoqueen should be switched into both electric types and fighting types to set Stealth Rocks, but beware of knock off as that would remove your only option of recovery.
- Nidoqueen needs to be played carefully because of its lack of reliable recovery. Switching into big attacks will leave it unable to tank attacks from pokemon it would normally check, leaving your team exposed.
- When using Nidoqueen, always look for opportunities to set Stealth Rocks as the extra chip provided is extremely helpful in taking out pokemon.
========
- Latias is a great teammate for Nidoqueen, being able to switch in on ground, water, and psychic-type attacks while Nidoqueen is able to stave fend off steel types that give Latias trouble.
- Bulky water-types are great partners for Nidoqueen, because they are able to fend off Krookodile and Hippowdon effectively. Alomomola does particularly well because of its ability to provide wish support giving Nidoqueen a huge burst of recovery. Nidoqueen in return is able to pivot in on pesky electric types such as Mega Manectric and deal with them effectively.
- Nidoqueen also appreciates hazard removal from pokemon such as the afformentioned Latias, and defog Hydreigon as it is susceptable to being worn down from hazards such as spikes.

Moves
========
- Stealth Rock allows Nidoqueen to set up hazards for your team, allowing your team to pick up otherwise unachievable OHKOs and 2HKOs.
- Earth Power is a stab move boosted by Sheer Force, allowing it to pick up KOs on pokemon such as Cobalion and Terrakion easier.
- Sludge Wave is another stab move that is used to bust through fairy-types in the tier such as Primarina, Florges, and Mega Altaria.
- Ice Beam allows Nidoqueen to hit pokemon like Gligar, Hippowdon, and Amoonguss for big damage.
Set Details
========
- 128 Speed EVs allow Nidoqueen to outpace Modest Primarina, allowing Nidoqueen to KO with Sludge Wave.
- 128 HP EVs give Nidoqueen more bulk to work with, allowing it to remain a check to pokemon like Mega Manectric and Cobalion while still maintaining a good speed and SpA stat.
- 252 SpA EVs along with Life Orb, Sheer Force, and a Modest nature allow Nidoqueen to pick up important OHKOs and 2HKOs on pokemon such as Amoonguss, Primarina, and Florges
Usage Tips
========
- Offensive Nidoqueen should be played similar to the defensive varient, as they both have rather low speed and as such need to be carefully played. This is even more important because of the change in bulk.
- Pivoting into electric and fighting-types allows Nidoqueen to force switches, and pressure the enemy team with its high powered attacks.
- Setting Stealth Rocks is crucial, as it allows Nidoqueen's team to pick up KOs on pokemon that would give it issues, and vice versa.

Other Options
=============
- Toxic Spikes can be used by defensive Nidoqueen to help bulkier teams pressure opposing pokemon, but it means giving up either crucial coverage or Stealth Rocks, both integral parts of its kit.
- Fire Blast or Thunderbolt can be used to hit Scizor or bulky water-types respectively. This however means that you yet again must give up useful coverage or Stealth Rock, meaning it is usually not worth running.
