Ninetales @ Choice Specs
Ability: Drought
Evs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Overheat
- Fire Blast
- Solar Beam
- Psyshock

Choice Specs Ninetales capitalizes on RU metagame trends such as Escavalier and Bronzong, which have been rising in usage in big tournaments such as SPL. Overheat hits overwhelmingly hard, 2HKOing quad-resistant foes such as Tyrantrum with Stealth Rock up. Ninetales's coverage moves allow it to 2HKO defensive metagame staples like Cresselia, Milotic, and Mandibuzz, and while Psyshock might seem a bit odd, it lets Ninetales 2HKO Dragalge. However, Hidden Power Ice can be used instead to improve Ninetales’s matchup against Flygon. Stealth Rock setters are important teammates, as without them, Ninetales struggles to OHKO Pokemon like Mega Blastoise and Salazzle and misses out on the 2HKO against Tyrantrum. Slow pivots like Mandibuzz and Gligar are important as well, as Ninetales has trouble coming in due to its crippling Stealth Rock weakness and subpar bulk. Entry hazard control from Pokemon like Gligar, Rotom-C, and Mandibuzz is also extremely important because Ninetales is crippled by hazards and can only come in a few times during a game if they aren't removed.

Choice Specs Ninetales capitalizes on RU metagame trends such as Escavalier and Bronzong, (AC) which have been rising in usage as seen in big tours tournaments such as SPL. Overheat hits overwhelmingly hard, 2HKOing quad-resistant foes 4x resists such as Tyrantrum with Stealth Rock up. (AP) and Ninetales's (curly -> straight apostrophe) coverage moves allow allows it to 2HKO defensive metagame staples like Cresselia, Milotic, and Mandibuzz, (period -> comma) and while The set is pretty self-explanatory except for Psyshock might seem a bit odd, which it lets Ninetales 2HKO Dragalge. However, this can be swapped for HP Hidden Power Ice can be used instead to improve Ninetales’s matchup against Flygon. Entry hazard control support from Pokemon like Gligar, Rotom-C, and Mandibuzz is also extremely important, (RC) because without hazard clearance, (RC) Ninetales is crippled by hazards and can only come in a few times during a game if they aren't removed.
