move 4: U-turn
item: Heavy Duty Boots / No Item
ability: Speed Boost
nature: Adamant
evs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
[SET COMMENTS]
Ninjask is a potent setup sweeper and revenge killer by virtue of its outstanding Speed and powerful U-turn, which help it weaken checks and act as an offensive pivot. However, Ninjask is unable to reliably switch into just about anything due to its abysmal bulk, and it is countered by Steelix, one of the most popular Stealth Rock setters. Protect is a great move for activating Speed Boost safely, scouting Choice-locked sets and letting Ninjask always outspeed Choice Scarf users like Gardevoir and Passimian. Running Acrobatics without an item over Dual Wingbeat is an option to give Ninjask a more powerful and reliable Flying-type STAB move that helps it clean against weakened teams, but forgoing Heavy-Duty Boots leaves Ninjask vulnerable to Stealth Rock, forcing its team to have solid entry hazard removers and limiting its ability to pivot and revenge kill.
Entry hazard removal is imperative for Acrobatics Ninjask due to its 4x weakness to Stealth Rock, so partners like Dhelmise, Mantine, and Coalossal are good options. Ninjask can't do much against bulky Steel- and Rock-types like Steelix, Copperajah, Bronzong, and Gigalith, so Pokemon that can threaten them like Bewear, Golurk, and Scrafty are great teammates that appreciate being brought in via U-turn. Fellow wallbreakers like Salazzle can weaken shared checks like Gigalith so that Ninjask can clean up late-game; Pokemon like Gardevoir and Goodra can similarly wear down Steel-types. Pokemon that can set entry hazards such as Steelix, Dragalge, and Golisopod can be helpful, as they let Ninjask clean up a game or revenge kill more easily. Dragalge deserves a special mention because it can set up Toxic Spikes to prevent Unaware users and physically defensive walls like Porygon2 and Milotic from walling it long-term, while Ninjask can pressure out Psychic-types like Espeon and Indeedee-F after being brought into battle by Dragalge's Flip Turn.
