NINETALES MAGIC!
Hello smogon users I am here to present to you a team ive been procasinatig and now is finally complete.
So when making this team i had the idea maybe can stop using other weather teams like rain and sun or as some would call them "brainless strats",I have made hail teams in the past and they have never gotten and legitimate success mainly because 1. I wasnt as good as I was now 2. Hail was everyone's fav weather team to laugh at mainly bc there arnt many mons that do too good in hail and when there are they usually arnt the best or get trapped by magnezone like alolan sandslash,ANYWAYS I started building and this is where the story really begins.
Aoasis (Ninetales-Alola) @ Light Clay
Ability: Snow Warning
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Aurora Veil
- Freeze-Dry
- Hypnosis
- Encore
The sad truth is you can't have a hail team without alolan ninetales mainly do to the fact auruous (or however you spell it) is QUAD weak to fighting and is slow,now I'm not saying auruous is trash but it definitely just isnt as good as alolan ninetales.
Now moving on from why I chose ninetales as my hail setter lets move on to the sweeper, the hail dominator aka arcozolt

Ability: Slush Rush
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Lonely Nature
- Bolt Beak
- Icicle Crash
- Stomping Tantrum
- Freeze-Dry
Prob the the most important mon when it comes to hail teams I mean it can basically sweep and thats about it (under hail ofc) and is already a decently speedy mom and me adding freeze dry would be the same reason as ninetales,to get rid of pesky water pokemon.
Derp but Middle (Slowbro) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Regenerator
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 244 Def / 12 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Future Sight
- Slack Off
- Scald
- Teleport
I added slowbro as a bulky backbone to the team and even though I am a more hyper offense type of person I knew I could not just simply make this team hype offensive.
Glaciers (Kyurem) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Ice Beam
- Freeze-Dry
- Flash Cannon
- Draco Meteor
Kyurem. Yes kyurem a dominant (kinda) pokemon in the current OU meta game,now as you may noticr this team doesn't really have anything for heatran besides stomping tantrum arctozolt and if arctozolt dies you're 100% screwed so I'll leave a version with earth power at the end of the RMT.
This brings us to our 5th member
SWAMPERT!
"Axlotel" (Swampert) @ Leftovers
Ability: Damp
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 6 Atk / 6 Def / 244 SpD
Careful Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Flip Turn
- Earthquake
- Ice Punch
Now yes I know youre probably lookibg at this swampert like "Why doesn't it have toxic?" well as I said before I did heavily procrastinate this team so I will leave a 2nd version with it but besides that swampert is your stealth rocker and with flip turn it allows you to pivot after getting rocks up.
Press EQ (Moltres) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpA
Bold Nature
- Defog
- Flamethrower
- U-turn
- Roost
Ah yes moltres probably the most popular defogger before dlc 1 or 2 I forgot but anyway moltres purpose on this team is to stop mons like rillaboom from going absolutely bat shit crazy on this team(Even tho kyurem can kinda do that) and it also allows you to defog whrnever you need kinda,now when testing the team I noticed I didnt have a ghost resist/something to get rid of pault so if you feel like mandibuzz is a better mom than moltres I will leave the 2nd version at the end.
THREATLIST/PROBLEMS:
Hawlucha can be a problem only if it's a screen koko HO team but and you dont have aurora veil,now if arctozolt somehow dies before hawlucha can come out youre absolutely screwed (kinda not really) not moltres can stop this by making the right predicts like baiting youre opponent to click close combat and then switching into moltres so you wont take mad damage and pray you get a burn.
: Opposing weather can def be a problem if you can't keep ninetales alive or get predicted and ninetales dies,without ninetales the match is going to be MUCH difficult than it originally was. So Remeber when playing this team keep ninetales alive unless you NEED to sack it to win.
